Well I tried going hunting once with some family, but I'm not much good with a rifle. I take too long trying to calculate trajectories. gonk And I did try to recreate Mendel's hybridization experiments when I was younger. So I can grow peas, at least. surprised

Er... 'spell'? sweatdrop *shakes his hand, a bit reluctantly* Ahaha... ...yes, alright. Nice, er, to meet you. My name is Vincent. Here, have a seat, it seems I must make you a drink. It's the green fairy, you'll love it! whee

*sets about mixing another glass of absinthe and sugar*
Spell. as in magic. You know hocus pocus and the sort.

*rests his hand on his forehead*

Don't tell me. Another science sort that is going to tell me magic doesn't exists.

Well, I suppose you have the right to believe in anything you wish, Monsieur, but in a rational world you must admit it has little real impact. sweatdrop There are no sorcerers working alongside architects or doctors or inventors. There's nothing really there to believe in.

-unless you've had a few of these, of course. ninja *hands him a chill glass* I'll believe in anything after enough of the green fairy. mrgreen *sips his own glass again*

*says a spell and a drink floats his way*
Jeez I come here and no one thinks what I do is real I want to go home where people appreciate magic users. I mean look at Dr. Strange. Everyone loves that guy. Or used to at least...

eek

*looks down at his drink*

*looks back up at the floating glass*

I didn't think this absinthe was THIS strong. gonk

You're not drunk its a spell and a pretty simple one at that. You should have been here yesterday when I was fighting this guy in here.

Oh, come one now, there's a rational explanation, you've obviously got STRINGS on the glass *waves his hands above the glass* or...

*waves a hand all around the glass, surprised to find nothing* .....MAGNETS. You've obviously got magnets down here somewhere! *starts checking the floor and peering at the glass's base*

..... gonk Que? Nothing? ...*takes a heavy drink of his absinthe* Tell me how you're doing this. mad

*shrugs his shoulders*

I just say the spell and things happen. I learned recently that magic runs in the family. In fact this spell book here was written by grandfather.

*gestures to the book he's been carrying with him*

*takes another gulp, grimaces for a moment, then sits down*

Alright. Suppose I believe that this is... well, "magic." *finger quotes* The universe is governed by natural laws, so it follows there must be natural laws of magic as well. Can I see the book? Does it explain these things? Are... are creatures or forces applied to operate these things? gonk

WAIT! You say it runs in families? That could be significant.. only I haven't studied biology since I was a boy. *takes another thoughtful swig, less baffled and more considering* It has to work somehow...

I don't think i should lend it out I'm not even supposed to have it right now I kinda stole it from the base. Plus I doubt you can read it. My grandpa must have put some sort of encryption enchantment on it I can read it sometimes but that comes and goes. I don't really think you can apply science to this.

It is not science, it is LOGIC! scream Logic applies to EVERYTHING, if you but have the pieces!

*hiccups* But there are no pieces here. :< Merde.

*starts muttering, and pulls out a small notebook and pencil, starting to scribble away*

Well if you figure anything out let me know I need to be able to read this thing.

Hmm? What? *looks up from a slightly warped sketch of Chris, which is placed next to plans for some device intended to make glasses float* Oh, that. I'm not any kind of code-breaker. sweatdrop It's beyond me, perhaps. *sips his absinthe* I shall just have to get science to meet magic headfirst! scream heart PROGRESS! *scribbles with renenwed fervor*

So you know a little about me. Tell me about yourself.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 06, 2009 11:15 pm

I? I? *draws himself up in his seat, serious faced and straight-backed* I am Vincent Henri Bernard! Son of Auguste Bernard, merchant extraordinaire! P'raps you've seen the bear logo in some of the shops around Paris, yes? It is a VERY SERIOUS BUSINESS that I soon am entering into! *very serious face*

*snrk*...pffhaHAHAHAHAAAA *doubles over giggling, unable to keep a straight face any longer* Oh, my father is so serious about his business. Ships have to sail on time, have to be s**c and span, everything pristine and in place and orderly and so perfect and you know what? You know what I say to that?

*makes a throwaway gesture with his hand* C'est dommage. The man has nothing but his clockwork businesses, no life. He is dull! Boring! And he wants the same for me! *makes an angrier hand gesture* He can hawk his goods all he likes, I will do something more. I will build. And maybe I take! surprised Sail the seas, find a crew, do.. something! Adventure and excitement. It's so boring, my life. *sighs, and sips his drink* ..but it will get better. Things will happen soon; I will make them. *scribbles again for a bit*

*Ethan just starse for a minute speechless*
You seem like an interesting fellow. A life of adventure ain't all it's cracked up to be. It's very exhausting. This weekend has been a nice little break for me.
