...THAT'S the battery? eek And this is a coated wire... it plugs in here? Is there a generator behind this wall?
*hurries over to the wall and starts poking at the electrical outlet* Hmmm, why TWO prongs, that's interesting.... *starts muttering to himself, fiddling with his goatee*

Be careful poking that outlet. You don't want to get electrocuted.

Betty Ross Be careful poking that outlet. You don't want to get electrocuted. What? *blink* Oh! Right. Yes. *backs up a little* That's usually quite painful. *pulls a small book and pencil out of his vest and starts scribbling furiously in it*

Betty Ross I'm a scientist but electronics isn't really my area of expertise. 3nodding *blink* Really? That's nice. I hear there are more and more women scientists working these days. Most of my professors think it's undignified, but then, they wouldn't read that treatise Madameoiselle Ada Lovelace published about Mr. Babbage's machines. Brilliant piece of work, though I'm not a terribly good mathematician myself.

Women scientists! What with the new factories more women are working outside the home; if they can provide labor, I don't see why they shouldn't provide brain power too. 3nodding I suppose it is a bit up to their fathers and husbands, of course.
