substituting one vice for another usually helps. At risk of sounding inappropriate, a big part of the smoking addiction is an oral fixation so if you can find something else to put in your mouth, it's easier to beat.
I can't believe I typed that entire sentence without giggling (but I will say I accidentally typed someone instead of something the first time xp )

I've got a one track mind and that track is always rolling through the redlight district.
Kidding aside, the best thing for quitting is mindset. Not that I set a whole lot of precedence on the whole mind over matter hallabaloo however, if you say to yourself "I'm going to quit, no matter what" and set reminders for yourself as to why quitting is so important, it makes those "I'm having such a bad day I just need a smoke" days seem less "bad"
I tell my bestie all the time, there will never be a "right" time to quit, if you wait for your life to calm down, you will never do it.

My boyfriend always says Tomorrow never comes. What's cute is that these wise words usually come out when he's trying to decide whether to take out the garbage now, or later. rofl He usually ends up just taking it out.

I'm easily influenced by people...especially those I'm intimate with...so my g/f smokes too, and whenever I'm around her, I just want to smoke. sweatdrop

Excuses!!
But really, I know the feeling. I used to always smoke more when I was at my besties house but we decided to quit when her son relapsed. She is working on quitting still so when I go over there, the temptation still lingers. And I won't lie, I think about it, but I always catch myself with a good stout "Why?" Why do I want to smoke? Oh yes, because monkey see monkey do. I know I will hate myself later for it, and my reason means more to me then caving so I move on and find something else to occupy my thoughts.

I think procrastination is in the DNA of every man... my ex was like that only somehow... later always won...
Not saying that I don't do my fair share of procrastinating but I can usually attribute mine to distraction. I can't help it, I have a goal in mind and all of a su.... oh look, shiney!
