"On some things, yes. on other things, no."
nodding to his youngest.
"Yes, no climbing trees for her. and she'll need to spend a lot of time on bedrest, and we have to make her eat full meals and snacks. other then that, nothing for you to worry about."

"Wow...sounds horribly boring." Shurgging before giving a grin as he flip flopped his moods. "Oh well, I'll just have to keep you company." Nodding to his father's words and giving a smirk, "In other words the stuff you usually try to get her to do, just with less running around."
Piper ruffled her son's hair, "This is where all the optimisim went." She was indeed going to miss the tree part, but she supposed it was one of those many things she was going to have to give up.

Zahara was quiet for a long while, glancing over at the love of her life and then back to the silent Underdark as she allowed things to sink in and process. "Yes, I will." It still brought tears to her eyes when she thought about her infant son and the feeling of having her heart ripped out of her body was as fresh sometimes as if it was still happening. Wiping beneath her eyes, she sighed. "I just can't spare her the pain, can I? No matter how much I might want to."
Sidestepping Yinn whom she still wasn't fully sure about, she followed after him and then glanced up to see the little sculpture sitting on a high shelf. She covered her mouth in awe and stood on her tiptoes to gently scoop the butterfly off the shelf, cupping it in the palms of her hands. The clay felt warm and she remembered painting each and every part of it, molding the clay until it had formed into the shape in her hands. "I did this. And he kept it all these years."

He raised his hand to soothing run it through her hair once more then let it drop down to where it was resting around her before. He knew it still got to her, and it got to him too...he was just fortunate to be able to disconnect with what hurt him. "Afraid not Sweetheart. Some things can't be avoided, but at the same time...they shouldn't be either. People can take things away from them for later in life."
He was still perplexed by her awe in the simple object being kept for such a long time. To him it was like any other decorative item that was in the house, this one just had a tad more personal touch to it. "Yeah, one of the things he doesn't horse around with just in case he might break it."

She leaned back against him, grateful for his support and strong arms to encircle her and make the world go away for a little while. They both knew that their son had made his impression and his presence was still felt in ways neither of them could have ever imagined. "It certainly seems like a miracle considering most surface elves barely manage to have one baby much less two or three." Her gaze traveled over the serfs who were busy working. "I'm sorry I disrupted your system. I was just upset and angry."
She'd once painted a landscape of Andal. Fresh from reverie, her paintbrush had moved over the canvas and she'd produced some of her best work ever. She'd decided on a whim to give it to her parents as a thank you gift for letting her take the trip with Malikhai and his family and had happily surprised them with it. It had never been hung, never been taken care of. Instead of them pleased with her work, they'd made certain she wouldn't be painting anymore. She'd found the painting a few months later, slashed at the bottom of their closet. "Tell him thank you. It means a lot to me to see it in such good shape. It's like an old friend." She set the butterfly back on the shelf and then frowned. "Where's his Tree Rat?"

"Yes, terribly boring for her. but you can provide her with plenty of entertainment I'm sure. and we'll have to find a way to make it so we can carry her around in her bed. that way she can go to the tournament, and watch, and still remain on bedrest per Zahara's instructions."
No, he hadn't been kidding.
"Maybe your little talent can help with that."

"It's those damn Bridge Elves. They're all off and all over the place." Making fun of an old tradional thought that he didn't know how it was used anymore, but in his day Bridge Elves were crazy and what not among other things. "Thank you, I would so hate writing in my report 'and things didn't get done becase my wife decided to play bully with the serfs'. Makes us all look bad."
"I will, or you can tell him yourself. I'm sure he'll pop around sooner or later." Smirking some then, "Well, Tree Rat had an unfortunate accident and ended up dying when he took a fall. Shelf got bumped when they were on a lower one. It was save the butterfly or save the tree rat."
He got the pondering look a moment, scratching at his hair. "I don't think walking through walls has anything to do with carrying beds..." However the look on his face clearly said he was trying to connect the two.
"No Malik, we're not honestly doing that. Serino would be more than happy to play constant transportation and the whole 'you can't ride him because horses are a bumpy ride' is moot because you know he doesn't produce that feeling. If I have to worry about you making productions in public I'm not leaving the bedroom at all.

"Zahara won't let you on Serino because she wants you on bedrest. thus, carrying you in your bed negates moving you being against doctors orders. unless you want to take up the your not laying down and serino can't carry you laying down argument with her. but I'll give you that. you convince her to let you come on serino, and I won't consider the bed thing."

"She is that..." Shaking her head and chuckling softly before glancing out over everything. "Then again, we're pretty crazy ourselves. Two evil elves who were never really evil but hated each other on sight and now look at us. Amazingly hard to believe how many grown kids we have and how long we've been married." Then making a face. "He'd probably chuckle because he'd know you would do exactly what you did."
"He might be embarrassed if I were to tell him, Khai. But if you don't think so, I'd be happy to." The story made perfect sense and she felt that funny twinge inside when she learned that he'd chosen to save the butterfly over his own creation. "Maybe I'll make him another one. It won't be as good as his was, but he loved Tree Rats when he was younger."

“Bed rest is also defined as sitting around doing nothing with no more excessive movement than what is needed to accomplish a simple task such as eating or what not. Believe me, I’ve asked her.” Settling a look on him, “And you know very well that I can use Serino like a bed, you’ve seen me do it.”
“Yeah, but we were rebels from the beginning of things in our own lives. Bridge Elves are just…Bridge Elves.” He was still convinced something was a little off in them, though they did adapt well and most figured themselves out and where they belonged before they drove themselves into madness. A grin to her though, “Probably would. Sorry Sweetheart but you’re very very easy to predict.”
“Nothing embarrasses him. He lives to embarrass others…and add in facts into sentences.” Giving her a smile as she was sentimental in her own way in regards to his brother. “Probably loves them because he acts like them. Tree rats are actually called squirrels…which are spastic rodents that live in trees and eat nuts and often acts nuts. I’d say Dhairiss fits that image pretty well.”

"One of a kind." Bridge Elves could remain in Andal. She had enough on her hands with Piper. "Only because you men have been around me for so many years. I bet I could predict what you'd do in certain situations, too." Sticking her tongue out at him much like Kit would when told something he didn't particularly like. "You probably couldn't tell me what I'm thinking about doing now."
"Adds in facts to sentences?" Quirking an eyebrow at that and then trying really hard not to laugh. She'd seen squirrels in Andal...all those years ago and she had to admit Dhairiss was a lot like them. But still, "That's not the nicest thing you could say about your brother, Malikhai." Holding back a giggle and shaking her head. "Unless of course he doesn't care what you say whenever..."

"But it's not as comfortable. and I'd prefer you were on the bed anyway. you just want to ruin all the fun I can have with the image of carrying you around on a bed."
Grinning lightly.
"you know, there where human emperess' and noblitity that loved to be carried around."

"You probably could." Rolling his eyes and she then proceeded to be childish with him, not that he was going to call her on it and cause more trouble for himself. There would be enough of that when they got back home. "Hmm, ravage me? That's what you usually like to do when you're cranky and I've made you feel better in some arbitrary way."
"Yeah, it's a quirk of his...among his other many many quirks." Grinning at her and giving her a playful little elbow as she was trying not to laugh at such things. "It's nicer than a lot of other things can be said. Besides, he'd probably agree with me."
"Hey, I find Serino quite comfortable and I'm sure that he would be offended that you were calling him uncomfortable. And you always prefer me on a bed..." Shaking her head lightly before tilting her head back to look at him. "Yes. Yes I want to ruin your fun. I don't care what humans do, I don't like to be carried around all the time."

She made another face at him and stuck her tongue out again. "I really am predictable, aren't I? That's just...not fun." Crossing her arms and giving him the pouting face but walking along meekly beside him anyway. "Are you almost done?"
"What kinds of facts?" She had a feeling there was a story behind this particular quirk and that same feeling told her she'd probably enjoy the story as well. Malikhai had a flare for telling them so they were amusing and interactive. "He really is one of a kind, isn't he? The only elf I know that enjoys butterflies."
