He'd also never really learned to climb a ladder properly without causing someone an injury...a long story. But now that he could walk up walls that wouldn't be a problem anymore. Still...perhaps he should still learn it merely on the grounds that it ay hold the basis for solving even greater mysteries...after all, it WAS a potential unknown quantity. He should probably pick it up just to be safe. After it was in the little things that one often found the answers to the much bigger things. He believed that the apt phrase was, so one earth, so in heaven. His clan of course would have probably blew a few gaskets at this phrase and begun jumping up and down hysterically crying "Heretic!" or something that effect, but then, he found that they had that reaction to quite a lot of things, so it was best to just to ignore their opinions for the most part. when dealing with them it was mainly safe to just keep mentioning how very AMAZING they all were and just how very weak and foolish everyone else was. That tended to work resplendently.

He wondered something, now that he thought about it...would he be able to get back in the clans good graces THAT easily? If he was to manage to become strong enough and put on airs similar to those he just described...would he be able to get back into the inner circle of the family's politics just like that...? That was just...hilarious. All this time he'd been doing things like trying to work out and "plan" and various other strategies, but now that he really considered it, so long as he was strong, it didn't really matter. His clan was so far up their own little views of reality that all he had to was pander to their sense of pride and they'd be putty in his hand. That was actually almost...pathetically easy, actually. Had it always been this easy...he was training his endurance or his intellect...because he could have SWORN that either he had just gotten a little smarter, or that answer had been staring him int he face for the all these years tapping it's metaphorical foot rather impatiently.

He supposed that was pretty obvious in hindsight, but to be fair most things were. Still... this "revelation" didn't exactly raise his opinio of his ever so brilliant family. He wondered if his earlier theory of family being people you were stuck with not being to off. After all, even if he was way over on the other side of the nations, he was still unable to deny that he was, unfortunately, related to an entire clan of gullible power driven religious nut jobs with god complexes. ...When he just flat out stated it like that, it really wasn't seeming such a brilliant strategy to ally himself with them for any long term... maybe he should seriously start looking into that whole "double" agent thing. Then again, if he was already a double agent, did that make him a triple agent.... interesting. Then if he were to say, join an entirely different faction, like, for example, himself, would that make him a quadruple agent? Hm...that actually sounded like it might be rather funny to pull off... at the very least HE would get the joke. was this what Kyojin-senpai felt like all the time? Laughing at a joke no one else got? No wonder he always smiled.

Did it really count if you were actually working for yourself? Hmm, maybe he should choose a different employer. After all he was technically working for himself no matter which path he took at this point, so he supposed in that sense he wasn't really working for anyone else at all, and there fore wouldn't really even qualify for the "double agent" title. So yes, he;d actually need to find a third power altogether if he technically wanted the coveted role of "quadruple agent. A crime syndicate maybe? They tended to be a bit more open minded when it came to methods and contract terms. But then again there was also the lack of influence when compared to the villages themselves. Perhaps he should try one of the other villages merely for the purpose for his exercise. Oh! Or, another faction within the village that could then pull a coup de tat much like the one his own clan were pulling now. That way he could be an agent against Kiri without actually being AGAINST Kiri. Yes, so, for this hypothetical exercise, he supposed he WOULD, in fact, under said circumstances, but a quadruple agent. Hm... complicated...yes, but it did amuse him. He should look into that if Kiri ended up bugging him progressively.

Though, the outlook was actually positive. He didn't really tend to be bothered by much beyond directly threatening his life, and Kiri was actually providing him with a fair few opportunities, considering the summoner that it had a around, the vast library that was now, as a ninja, at his disposal and of course there was always the fact that they were teaching him and the rather incredible view of the ocean...even if it tended to be rather blurry what with all the mist. But as far as he was concerned, that was just a very sensible reason for them to have named their village after it, so no harm done. Besides, he could hear much further than he could see once he was out on the water, so it was a moot point anyway. No had mist been particularly loud, that would have been an entirely different story. as it was actually rather quiet, there wasn't much of an issue. Hmm...now that he mentioned it, he should probably also add the hidden mist technique to the list of pro's wile he was thinking on it. WAS he thinking on it? Hmm...very well, pro's for staying with Kiri...he'd have to think about that...

There was the food, he DID like the food. They had gotten rather good at fixing fish in this village, down to the point where it had become an art form. And of course the fact that he already knew where most of the good places to eat were. There was the fact that they were mostly predominately water affinity, and he himself was a water affinity. There was the Hoshigaki who's personalities tended to greatly entertain him. Oh, and he couldn't forget that there was a great deal of water all around for him to pratice his jutsu with once he started elemental training, atop the fact that he just generally felt comfortable around water. There was this grove here that was generally quiet whenever he wanted that. There was the fact that he'd met that strage girl here and that he might someday find here here again... hmm...the list went on something like that for a while...

What had been the pro's for his clan again...?

So then, if, in point of fact, he DID decide to stay with his clan the bonus was...

...Oh he was sure he could think of something. ..........Anytime now, really. It was going to come to him. He was absolutely- alright, so he was going to go ahead and admit that he was leaning towards not siding with the clan that would think nothing of murdering him if he showed signs of trying to break free from them. But then was Kiri so different? After all Kyojin-senpai had left them behind to follow his own path and was currently being hunted for it as a missing ninja...of course he HAD killed someone before he left so he supposed that they did at least have a bit of a motive to bring him in for murder...but even so. In the end almost any wasn't free to choose his destiny unless he wanted to be labeled a criminal...or, he supposed, a Kage. But he didn't really feel like putting himself in the spotlight like that. Besides the only way that he would end up as a kage was if he managed to become strong enough, which he actually suspected likely, but more pressingly B, if he DID side with his clan and usurped the position as clan head and the new Otokage... which all in all didn't really seem worth the fuss. He was fairly certain he'd rather be a criminal...

On the other hand he wasn't really powerful enough to be a criminal just yet, and, in addition, he supposed that there wasn't really much point in becoming a criminal until the people that he was working for did something that conflicted with his particular priories. After all this was just a decision for pragmatism's sake. There was no point to get all personal about it. He took a moment to think. Hmm... that might have actually been why the Devil of Oto had done what he did. Start his own village, rather than merely stay true to one in particular or join a criminal organization. He might have even tried out a few criminal organizations first but just decided that starting his own village was a much better call. He supposed having figured out the secret to eternal youth, he'd probably figured that he'd just be able to run said village for all eternity, and eventually bring said village up into a place of unrivaled power as it's immortal overlord.... pretty cool idea, really, but again, becoming a Kage sounded like it would really distract him from the more entertaining things in life... and after all, it had gotten the devil of Oto killed.

And after going through all the trouble of becoming immortal, it was certainly quite a waste to just up and get himself killed. Still, he supposed that if he HADN'T, he would probably have still been in charge of Oto, and the Otobe would be nothing more then his loyal slaves, and indeed, there would much less a chance to defeat an immortal genius who'd had so many centuries to brush up on his game, and there'd be that much smaller a chance that he would have been able to get rid of his clan if they had someone like that backing them up...he'd never have been out from under their thumb that way. so he supposed that it was a very good thing that whoever had finally finished the snake off had done him a mighty service. He supposed, given the devil's own power, that whoever they were must have been a rather inordinately amazing individual in their own right... he sent them a silent thank you, for what it was worth.

He wondered just what other sort's of jutsu the devil had come up with that his clan was so eager to collect them. Given the man's record they probably defied the generally and socially accepted laws of nature and man, but just how exactly did they do that? One rumor was that he possessed the second Hokage of Kohnoha's power to raise and control the dead, but many in the modern age believed this to just be a cheap parlor trick that some experienced medical nin could preform...but...what if it wasn't? What if the founder of the hidden sound had actually managed to do as such? Raise back immortal warriors from beyond? Given his fascination in avoiding death investigating how the second Hokage had done as such was actually rather reasonable. And replicating the feat would probably be rather easy for one of the man's supposed intellect. He wondered if HE should look into it as well...after all, mastering such a technique would even allow him to keep around people who actively amused him or to whom he grew to have preference...hmm...he'd look into that.

The process of his training continued with a fiery effort now, the conviction burning within burning like the frigid sting of ice too cold for humans to properly feel it. It was a phenomenon now, a event within him that was taking on a life of it's own. He was so close now, so very close now. He was going to make it. He was going to complete this training and it was SO very close at hand. It was, in no uncertain terms, rather amazing to have progressed so far so quickly. This level of training was near the level of madness, yet he pressed on, fighting through the trial he'd granted to himself with all the will that he could muster up from within himself. This was the moment...it was almost there... the moment he'd been striving for... and he was going to love every minute of it....

God, definition: that to which their is no greater. That was what the Otobe strove for, the very goal and purpose of his clan. It was really no small wonder that they wanted the scrolls of the first Otokage. They wanted the same things that Byakuran himself did. They wanted the secret to immortality. Even if they were mostly delusional and self absorbed, his clan aimed for perfection in everything, and honored it when it was shown. And what was more the words of the Otobe being perfect were not as empty as they had been many times in history where one people tried to rise above others. The Otobe, though they claimed to already be god's, were never content with merely saying as such. Where as other times in history others had demanded them to prove their perfection, in the case of his clan it was the reverse. The Clan wanted to prove their perfection with every bone in their body. And they were more then willing to work, kill, and battle there way to that victory.

They were willing to usurp a village, kill whoever they needed to, and take any power that they could lay their hands on...and, of course, cast off any signs of weakness that they had to deal with. They wanted immortality because they wanted to live up to their own vision of themselves. Because, truly, if indeed they unlocked the secret of immortality, the people would be forced to acknowledge them as the gods they claimed to be. They would continued to horde and seek new power, new life, and new influence, until their status as God's was completely uncontested. They would continue to fight with the exact same sort've intensity that he was now until they proved to everyone that they WERE what they claimed to be...

But, that was exactly why they weren't what they claimed to be.

They were fighting a losing game. All they were was compensating for the fact that deep down even they doubted their gospel, even they didn't truly have the faith that they desired in their beliefs. No, it didn't matter that they had blind faith, it didn't matter that most of them were completely loyal to the clan...deep down so many of them felt human, they KNEW, on some fundamental level that they weren't as great as they believed the clan to be. That was why they fought to fulfill that role. The alternative was the few who grew complacent upon learning that they were above all the rest, instead choosing to try and rely on this innate greatness... they often died quickly. For the Clan didn't tolerate complacency, they didn't tolerate those among them who showed great signs of weakness. While it was true that they were all possessed of hubris, they didn't allow it to dull them. The memory of their defeat at the hands of their old village was still too close in their minds.

Byakuran himself didn't have any experience with the uprising, of course, he'd still be in the throws of madness at the time as his second self assaulted his young mind. what was the difference between the sounds of war and the sounds of a tea cup falling when to your senses they all sounded louder than a gale force hurricane? No, he wouldn't even know the home of his childhood if someone showed him a picture of his old room. It would be as alien to his eyes as any other place he'd never seen before. The first place he could truly recall very well was the Chamber in which he'd finally gained control of his second self, but that had been in the now distant otobe Compound far in the west, and even there, he'd only spent a few short years. The only real place he supposed he could call "home" ...was here, in Kiri itself.
