They alter their bodies, with the blood and that eye-thingy I saw. I'm not sure how they were woken up from their half-coma's, I just know they were somehow. I think that's why they have no memories. And they would have to be part corallian from the dna. So I think.
And they weren't all female. Just so far only the girls are surviving for...some reason. O.o''

The Desperation disease is a requirement to being at the foundation. Rekka remember back at the foundation when you went into the room where the kids were staring at compacts? They hadn't been brought back to this world yet.
The fact that the foundation COULD cure desperation disease is a real miracle. Most people who get it live in a coma like state for the rest of there lives. There minds are in another place (the scub coral) and they are very happy to be there.
The kids they cured were used in experiments to make copies of eureka. That was the ultimate goal of the Novak Foundation. However, several other kids who weren't good LFO pilot type material were trained and ended up being Deweys Lolli brigade "the Aghea squad".
edit: the fact that they built Rain an LFO says that they expected to use her in the same way that Anemone and Kayako were used. However, since she left before they started the injections and plastic surgery. Rain is completely human. The connection she had to the scub (from her time spent in the desperation disease) caused her to have her snazzy trappar effecting powers.

Let's say some bumbling idiots kidnapped Rain thinking she was grade-A experiment material. The officials then chew them out, but somehow could not seem to get rid of Rain. Like... she knew too much but for some reason they didn't kill her, thinking they'd be able to use her for something. We'll say that in her time there, she somehow managed to get the disease and SHABAM!! She's an experiment. razz

Like that one lady from the episode with runaway-Renton, where they show the flashback..?
Maybe Rain was kidnapped, then got it when they traveled with her near the drive..?

Tolly said it in the game. Rain is special cause she's the only person to come back from desperation and still be a normal human. Sorry Kayako.. but your nutz. And so is anemone and probably liana so I count Rain as the only NORMAL survivor. (although it is all relative) blah blah blah
