"Of course!" The Recorder snapped his fingers. He stomped over to where Mala was speaking with the ring. "Excuse me, I never properly introduced myself. I am the Recorder, and I'm from another world."

Mala looked over at the man who approached. "I'm Mala, ex-priestess and currently a graduate from the Magical Acadamy from that large city not too far off. Unfortunately, the name escapes me.."

Mala snickered at Van's comment. "Jeez, Van. It's a prestegious school - very expensive and I had a very difficult time getting in at first. I have a right to be proud. Afterwards, she looked up at the Recorder once more. "Really? Do tell." she said, eager to hear it.

The Recorder sighed, realizing that he was dealing with primitives. "Basically, the technique I intend to use involves... Well, it's difficult to explain. All you need to know is the end result. If all goes well, your problem will be solved, and I'll likely have a power source to leave this world and return to my own."

The Librarian joined the Recorder. "Oh, Recorder, why don't you just bore them with all the big words, and then leave them to puzzle it out on their own? Who knows, we might knock them ahead a few thousand years in their technology."

The Recorder sighed. "Librarian, that would be horrendously irresponsible. They haven't even figured out the printing press. Do you really want to influence them to advance so quickly without them having figured out basic things like literacy or hygiene?" He then turned to Mala. "Do you even have a word for technology, yet? Or am I speaking nonsense to you? That happens sometimes."

Mala looked at Recorder and nodded in agreement with Librarian. She folded her arms. "I can understand damn well what you're saying. We have plenty of written books, you just have to look in the wealthier towns. As for hygiene, I've got soap with me and I bathe as often as I can. So there's no reason for you to be calling me filthy. Third, I just left a sodding goblin settlement. I was surrounded by all sorts of bloody machinery!" she said in a snappish tone, not appreciating his lording herself over her.
