"Damnit," Penny put her fist into the sand and picked herself up. Remember, this is a game. A game... What counts is when you get onto the field of battle and lives are on the line. She put her hand out to Gen who had landed on her own a** at some point and helped her teammate onto her feet.

Porter was on the sidelines using some incision glue to keep Jacen's half healing wounds together.

"Remind me not to never get on Freya's bad side," Penny said and handed her team some water bottles, "That is one tough lady. You guys did great out there."

Their team didn't look entirely convinced with what she was saying but she did her best to remind them it was only a game. The sore part was probably losing with the Brotherhood was in their presence. She sat down beside Jacen, giving him one one of the water bottles, "Besides, we win when it counts. Haven't lost a battle yet with you guys."

Freya seemed exhausted and walked over to their little crowd across the nets. Penny stood up and offered them some gatorade and a seat, "Nice match, ladies."

"You as well," Freya said and accepted the offer, "Now, I do believe, though, that you owe me a slave. Your choice."

Penny groaned a bit and looked at their team. Being the leader of the X-Men squad she didn't have to think long before answering, "I'll do it."

"No," Porter answered feeling the same sense of responsibility, "I will. And don't bother arguing with me, Evelyn, it's non negotiable. I did the least for the team out there and you all should enjoy your vacation."

Freya smiled but it vanished quickly when she saw the look on Regina's face. She walked up to Porter and looked at him very carefully, avoiding eye contact of course. After a while, she sighed.

"Considering you have a girlfriend who is new to all this love thing, I think I'll go soft on you pretty boy," she said. "From today until the sunset of the day after tomorrow, you'll be my slave. After that, you'll be free to run back into her arms and do all those dirty things you have in mind for her."

"Freya will you STOP saying that kind of thing in front of people?!" yelled Wanda from the other side of the court. The spirits vanished immediately after the game was won so she was alone on her side.

"Don't mind her. She's a bit stressed about the upcoming match. Not that I blame her if we go after Pietro," Freya told them as if she was whispering.

"I heard that!"

"Don't look so gloomy. I mean, yes it's bad to lose but your only mistake was to take this game too seriously. I was having fun even though we were losing at the beginning."

Bad winners would say such things to rub it in but for Freya, winning or losing in a game wasn't that important. She told them those things sincerely and it was hard to believe otherwise.

OOC - Stupid Gaia, seemed like every time I logged in the Guilds were down! Typical...

IC - The spite in Evelyn's tone wasn't diluted in any way, and it was clear that the girl had little to no respect for Kim. That was understandable, a handful of students hated every teacher, and Kim was no exception. She's had a rocky few years at the Institute before she straightened up and learnt to accept punishment with the crime. Still, she was a girl after all, and didn't take kindly to harsh remarks, even those said out of suprise.

"What, I'm not allowed to come down to the beach and watch the volleyball?" she replied, almost naively. Penny almost instictively ignored the reply. "My, what a world it is when someone can't walk happily along the beach and observe misplaced teenage bravado without being questioned for it..."

Whether the rift between the two young women was caused by something Kim had done or said in their time together was a mystery to her, but personally, he guess was that Penny just didn't agree with her manner and subject of teaching. In class she seemed unwilling to cooperate, when in most other classes, reports said she was doing just fine. Maybe it was something about Kim herself that she found distaste in... Who knew?

The match was over in due time, and the brotherhood team had emerged victorious. Words of slavery were exchanged, and Porter stepped forward to fill in a role that seemed to have been predetermined before the game began. Playing volleyball for slavery rights? Yeesh... Why don't they just play Spin the Bottle like normal people?

Most of the students in the losing team looked downcast and guilty. Not for losing, but for allowing Porter to be taken as a slave. Kim didn't like the scene any more than the rest of them, but what could she do to intervene? Nothing. If they made a bet and lost, their downfall. And had the brotherhood lost, you can guarantee the bet would have been as solid as ever.

Kim watched Porter walk begrudgingly towards his new "Master" and tried her best to smile at him in appreciation. He didn't have to sacrifice his holiday when others had offered, but he had, and that was, in a strange brought-this-on-yourself way, noble.

OOC: Before you go any further Psylight, Freya and Wanda are not part of the brotherhood but from a neutral third faction. And they all played with the risk of slavery over their heads. wink

Pietro smiled as Victoria returned Kurt's spike with surprising skill. The ball dropped on their side of the court, and Pietro didn't even have to cheat to get that point to count. 15-12, Brotherhood favor.

He floated there, waiting for Pyro to form a fireball. The second he did, the other side would have much more to worry about than simply returning teh ball...

I know. Any mutant not from tne Institute immediately gets branded as part of the Brotherhood, because in her case, she doesn't know any better. And yeah, I know they all played with slavery over their heads, She was just focusing on Porter's loss, rather than anyone else's. ^_^

OOC: Perfect then. Just making sure. And since I'm on a occ *dodges bullets from doing something forbidden* I just want to tell everyone I won't be able to post tomorrow. Family party. So unless you can't wait for me Sunday to start the finals, I'm leaving Jedi and Jack with the care of my characters if needed. XD

Regina shrugged at the comment then blushed with an embarrassed look. "Heyyyy.... He's not... er... uh...." she stammered, unsure of what to say to that. Her first kiss from him was more than she had really expected. Heated and heavy, no other physical action but it wowed her in more ways than one.

She coughed to gather her thoughts and nodded. "I know you'll do nothing to him that would uh... be bad. You said so yourself so it doesn't worry me. Good game."

Gen sighed, she was hoping they could win. "Yeah. Good game..." she muttered, looking at the sand. She felt bruised and battered from the brutality of using powers during the game. She looked over to the match that Teagan was part of and went to watch her to see how they faired. ~we sould play a fun game... without powers later.~ she thought.

After Rogue served the ball back to the other side, Blair watched it in the air with intense concentration.
Focusing, as the ball moved close to one of the opposing team, he used telekinesis to speed it up and send it to the right a bit; hoping it would bypass the person and hit the ground or at least bash someone in the head just for kicks.

"You guys?," Jacen quipped, "I do believe the one time we did fight side by side, we kinda did lose, eh?" Quickly, he took a sip of his bottle before getting slapped rather hard on his uninjured shoulder. Unfortunately, Porter was chosen as the 'slave' so quickly, that there wasn't enough time to patch up his shoulder properly.

He looked at it, the thin layer of dermabond just barely covering the wound. Leave it, he thought as he got hit with a wave of rather...odd emotions. There were alot of heavy consciences because of the outcome. Jacen rather expected to get hurt again out there, and he did readily accept Freya's apology. The more he started to feel, instinctively, he started to funnel it through himself.

Straining for a moment, Jacen slowly stood to his feet as he used his abilities to directly strengthen him, though only temporarily. With a grunt, he shifted his weight to his right leg, and looked at everyone on the court before helping Penance to her feet.

"Good game," Jacen said loudly to everyone, "Seriously. Everyone of us played our asses off." With that, he turned around and started to walk away. When he was about only three steps from where he stood, he almost instantly fell pale. Another ten steps, and around a bush later, there was a loud cough followed by a rather chunky splash. Either from blood loss throughout the day, or the time in the ocean, or the fact his wounds may be infected.

"Sure you'll be able to make the walk to the house?," he heard the blonde say as he headed up the hill.

"Ha! Lady, try trudging through a blizzard with broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder, abrasions, and lacerations....then we can talk, cool?," Jacen said rather rudely as he went along on his way. His first, and only stop was to his room. He needed rest.

"s**t," Penny grumbled again knowing that Jacen's injuries were catching back up with him. Their fun so far for the week hadn't come without a price it seemed, "I'll be back guys."

She was concerned and picked up the first aid kit. Xavier had required most of them to take some kind of first aid classes since they would be seeing battles. Jacen was already inside before she got there and she picked up her cell phone from the kitchen counter for a call in with McCoy. He gave her a few simple instructions on what to do. Was mostly common sense. Grabbing a bottle of peroixide to disinfect, bandages, and the glue stuff, along with some kind of pain pill, she walked up the back steps towards Jacen and Porter's room.

"Evie," He stammared jumping into bed half naked, "Privacy?"

"Shush, nothing I haven't seen before, and if you're really concerned you can see me in my underwear anytime you'd like...," She said and put the stuff in her hands on the nightstand and sat down. She handed him the pain killers, "Take these."

She poured some peroxide on his shoulder and used a towel to keep it from running everywhere. The peroxide started to bubble white while disinfecting the wound. She did this twice until the peroxide ran clear on the wound. She patted the wound dry and glued it together where the stitches pulled apart. After that a clean bandage was placed around it. She repeated the same on the leg wound which she felt guilty about the most. That was a direct shot from her shot blade.

Putting a hand on his forehead she felt he was still cool so there was no fever, "If a fever does arrise, I'm to put you on a one way trip back to McCoy's office."

"Great," He leaned back and drank some water to wash down the pain killers. She leaned against the back of his bed and ran her fingers through his sweat laced hair, "And what do you mean... nothing you haven't seen before."

She laughed a little, "It was a general statement but I did see your a** in that hospital gown. Nice one by the way.... not the gown. Anyway, you need your rest."

"Thanks," He mumbled and yawned leaning his head on her stomach.

"You want me to go?" She asked and moved a few strands of hair from his face.

"Doesn't matter," He almost instantly fell asleep. She leaned her head back and then looked out the window towards the games still going on and watched.

--------------

He could see worry still lining the back of Regina's eyes despit what she wanted to say. In fact as much as he tried while looking at her he couldn't help but feel some worry and some disappointment bouncing out of her mind. He squeezed her arm and kissed her on the cheek, "Don't worry, hon. It's only Freya. At least it isn't Pietro."

He stood up and brushed the sand off his shorts, "Kimberly Raines, good to see you."

He held out a hand to greet her and stepped behind the students and Regina, "We haven't worked together yet but Xavier has spoken of you. I'm Jonothan Porter."

Kim had a sideways glance towards Regina's direction and he thought he understood. He nodded towards Freya and motioned for Kim to follow him, "I'll be yours in a moment, Freya."

"There is no conflict between Regina and my's relationship if that was a thought on your mind. She's not a student of Xavier's anymore, and I'm sure once Evelyn starts rememering she's not either her hostility towards the teachers will die down. Powers or no powers, the kids are having fun out here. It's a welcome change after what they've been through the past few months."

PostPosted: Sat Jul 16, 2005 7:32 am

"One can only hope." Kim replied, appreciative of the friendly greeting. She averted her eyes to the young man and smiled towards him. She was happy for the most part, that things did not get out of hand as she had feared they might, and in any case, having surveyed the combatants, she didn't recognise a single one of them to be anyone who can block mental attacks, so dampening their spirits, so to speak, would have been a cakewalk.

She took his hand and shook it lightly, then leant into him and spoke quietly. "If you need a lawyer to get out of this at any time, call me. I'm very persuasive." and she stood back, still holding his hand and grinning. "Until then, it was a pleasure, kaki te ano."

The subconscious twitch in his gaze gave away the fact that he didn't have a clue what she just, but she chose not to indulge his curiosity. Anyone with half a brain would realise her half-diluted accent was from New Zealand, and the only two languages primarily spoken were English and Maori. She'd leave it up to his imagination what she just said. In reality, it was simply, "fare well."

With the action over, Kim was at odds as to what her new plan was. She didn't feel like lounging around now, even though lounging around and sunbathing was one of her favourite passtimes. Many a time, inhabitants of the mansion would catch her lazily draped across the couch like some discarded jacket, watching reruns of The Simpsons with a small bowl of popcorn. Kim considered following the others back to the institute to ensure all was well. She'd watched more than enough "Sports fans gone wild" episodes to know that adrenaline turned nasty when combined with a depressing loss.

She wrestled with the idea in her head. She'd come out here with the intention of lounging, could she just throw that plan out the window out of concern for a simple lost game? She was already in her bikini...

Sighing and arching her head back, she begrudgingly sifted her toes through the sand as she walked in the direction of the others. She was tanned enough anyway. Couldn't losing her light-olive complexion with blonde hair, she'd look like those Ganguro girls you see all the time in Tokyo. As she walked she wondered of the state of Jacen, who for various reasons seemed more painful than disappointed. He hobbled along with Penny. Though she make a big deal out of these things, he certainly looked banged up after a game of voleyball. She decided to see if he was fit to move.

"Sure you'll be able to make the walk to the house?"

His answer was needlessly self-absorbed and extremely unjustified. So much so that she actually stopped walking and cocked her head to the side, if as much to say "What did I do to deserve that?" When she did start walking again, she shook her head lightly, and stayed indignantly quiet. She'd thought about spreading a little happiness throughout the others, but that idea crashed and burned upon remarks like that. Let them stew in their own foul juices.

When she got inside after a short hike, she kicked off her shoes and walked dismissively into the kitchen, opening the fridge and grabbing a soda. As she meandered towards the lounge, she cracked the can open and stopped ********!" she exclaimed with disgust, holding up her hand and admiring her broken middle fingernail. Sighing yet again, she continued towards the couch, slid like an amoeba over the back and came to rest in a position that made her slim, beautiful body look like someone had spilled meat tenderiser on her and left her limp and lifeless. Fishing the remote from deep within the cushions, she aimed and clicked it on the TV, in more of a foul mood than she was before.

"Ungrateful little so-and-so's... What did I do to deserve such treatment?"

Flicking through channels, it was obvious she wasn't watching anything, just thinking herself in a frenzy. "All I did was stand there and watch and suddenly it's open season on poor little Kim, great..."

She sighed with a mouthful of cushion. "Maybe I'm just too old to fit into their little groups anymore. I guess I'm really a teacher now."

Corky grinned. She loved it when people won for her. "Good going Ritalin, my dad wouldn't be to happy if I maxed out my Master' just because we lost a silly game." Not that she was one to throw a hissy-fit just because of a beach volley ball game. That was way beneath her, she had more self-control. But, she would get upset and have to do some major shopping to remind herself how fab she was.

What 'the plan' was about, Courtney had just a few ideas. It obviously had to do John, the fireman, and that glass wall she made. Corky was actually quite proud of her wall, it was perfect. You could barely see it and she was fairly certain it was smooth like silk. Even if she hated her powers, she'd be damned if she was a flop at them.

Porter frowned feeling bad for the way Kim was welcomed by some of the team. Although, he understood the hostility, he wasn't treated very well when he first took over the Green team as their counselor and teacher. It took him months to gain their trust and even Evelyn had a hard time trusting his word. At least now, with some of them he was allowed to fit in as much as their 'chaperone' could fit in.

How were things going to work when they got back to the Institute? A good majority of the X-Men team were still his students. The leaders of the team were no longer his responsibility. I guess this was going to be a grand Xavier experiment. See if his students really could run a team. Porter's job was still the same, make sure the kids are protected and they learn to protect themselves.

He walked onto the back patio of the beach house and poured Freya and Wanda a drink just to be nice... and having a sinking feeling that a drink request would be coming sometime soon amongst other things. He wasn't sure he felt about the entire thing. It was a bit awkward to him having to do the bidding of another undoubtably attractive girl. Not that he thought anything would happen bad. It was just a strange situtation all around for him. It literally had been years since he had any female around him for more than an hour at best.

Piotr gets up from his bed and looks to see the X-men and his fellow friends playing volleyball. "Hmm I'm not exactly good, might as well watch." He got on some beach clothes and headed downstairs. He went to the fridge and got a soda and headed outside. "Hey everyone." He sat down and watched them play.
