Wow, I'm actually not surprised Kei got so much backlash. I mean, seriously, who was he trying to kid? Mary Sue. I think the last straw, after reading over the OOC, was the fact that he DEFENDED Bella Swan. Given, it's a pretty name, but that aside, the girl who's ever named Bella, with a last name being Swan, she will be publicly crucified. D=
I'm actually glad I based Bela's name off, by all intents and purposes, Bela Talbot. I'm so sad she died, she was my favorite female character after they screwed up Ruby. >_>
But yeah, Twilight is riddled with lots of psychological problems Stephenie Meyer has. Most prominent is the Author Avatar, whose moral values will go no darker than egg white, and that her ideal man is actually the dead prophet of her religion in vampire form. Way to show how you have the hots for the long dead patriarch of your beliefs, eh? Dx

I know! How can someone even think that Bela Swan is a good character? She's everything that's wrong with a character.
I think he took the Mary Sue guidepoint literal. Like when he said that Bela never said or screamed that she was perfect. No, she never said it outloud, but the whole character is a giant flashing warning sign of Mary Sue...
....
I wonder if I had spelled it like that in the Mary Sue guildline, if he would have went and said "Bela Swan is a human, not a Sign O-o"

[Edit] He just couldn't understand that Mary Sues rarely do admit that they're perfect. They're either unaware of it ("dense") or they find it annoying ("I just want to be normal! D'="). Actually, a character who admits they're perfect isn't a Mary Sue, since they admit that they're vain. 9w9 (Though then that's when cliche comes in.)
I think he just couldn't understand that most people aren't completely self-aware. No one can understand every little quirk of their personality, because they don't have the distance to see the big picture. D<

Um, also... not to mention when Bella's actually turned into a vampire. The woman completely disconnects. I know, I regret reading it, don't rub it in my face. But yeah, it's so very obvious, too. I mean, anyone who even touches the first three books knows that Bella absolutely hates herself, or, to a much lesser extent, dislikes how she really is. Being too ordinary and crap. But, by the time she's a VAMPIRE? Whoa, she's vain as <********>! D<
One would wonder about this, but, eh, I don't feel like delving deeper than that. Just pointing that huge personality change by the last book. =P
I think I'll actually go see the last movie to see all the disappointed faces at the end of the movie, it'll be hilarious. They're gonna be like, "Whut. D<" xD
@MarySue -- I think the only acceptable Mary Sue here is Alanis, and it's because she's a maniac. Which makes for a very fun deconstruction of a Mary Sue character. :>

My AP Biology teacher read the books because her preteen step-daughter was, and she would dedicate some time every so often to rant about it. I mean, her husband cheated on her with a student and was arrested on the first day of class that year, and as far as I can tell, she never had any ill feelings toward him. But BOY did Bella piss her off. 9w9
I'm still surprised they're filming the last book. I mean, first off they split it into movies, and one book barely has enough to fill one movie, let alone two, so you know they're going to do EVERYTHING. I've read the birth scene... That's enough to promote abstinence amongst teens for a good while. o____o
I love the messages that series promotes. 9w9 You're a nobody unless you can make a good looking man who will love you forever (and literally, forever), marry him, and have his child. All within the first two decades of your life.
And! And! Bella's extreme popularity comes from the author's own popularity in college. >w> She's such a vain person, my god.

Wait, they're making two movies out of the last book? o-o
It was fine with Harry Potter, since basicly every details is important in the last one, but... Twillight? Really? o-o
I bet it's because they'll be extended scenes of Bela/Edward looking into each other eyes and being all "DON'T LEAVE ME D8< EVER."

Yeah, I think the Twilight producers are secretly jealous of the Harry Potter guys and are going 'WELL IF YOU CAN DO TWO MOVIES SO CAN WE. D<'
And it probably has to do with the last book consisting of two parts (different points of view) and it would probably confuse all of the stupid thirteen year olds who can't be bothered to read a book to get a story to have the perspective shift halfway.
They spend it on an island, too. Gratuitous sparkling? 9w9
But yeah. Harry Potter is necessary, since there's no way they can do a satisfactory adaptation in two hours. I think the Twilight guys just did it for shits and giggles. And because it means more money.
