The short version? I stumbled into the role. Almost literally. And I trust her as my bodyguard because she's so determined to kill me herself, that she'd die before letting someone else do it.
And lucky for me, she's good, but not QUITE good enough to beat me.
Yet.
Yeah. Yet. I'm keepin' an eye on her progess, that's for damn sure.
But the way I figure it, before Saki came along, the Foot HAD to be some good. They cranked out Splinter, after all. In a roundabout fashion. I figure I could make 'em go back to the honorable route. If I do it right.

Ahh, I didn't bail on 'em. I just got tired of having the same old argument with Leo. 'Sides. If I'm gonna lead these guys, I have to do it my own way. This is as good a place as any to find it.

I saw that last night with the chick and her tattoos, the walking corpse, and some gun-toting bozo trying to hold the place up for money that he just had to go and ask for.
