"I can do gentle. I'm good at gentle."

A slight grin.

"but I don't plan on questioning her until she's in better shape. even I know it takes time to recover from an attack like that."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 23, 2009 5:25 pm

"You're only good at gentle when it comes to me and the kids dear. Do try to remember your PR." Patting his chest lightly with a giggle from where she was perched in his lap. She couldn't help. "Now you stop antagonizing and you don't drink anymore."

A look to his giggly flushed mother and giving a nod. "Fair enough." They didn't like him drinking just to drink anyway. But he let still steely eyes turn to his father. "You do know that as the best friend, Ii'm obligated to be there to make her feel better if you do upset her. So unless you want me to get behind on my work then yes, do plan cautiously."

"I always plan cautiously."

A slight grin at his oldest.

"Best friend still? come now it's plainly obvious to anyone that knows you that you are more then 'friendly' toward her. She hasn't caught on yet?"

"Yes..." Crap, he was suckered into this now, wasn't he? His father was going to kick his a** straight into next week if Kit started having bad reveries because of this. "Not much more to tell. Destyny dropped him there and I helped him untangle himself, punched him in the face, and finished the race. Then I came home and Mom took care of the arrow and my arm."

"That child is quite difficult, sometimes." But Zahara adored her youngest daughter nonetheless. Lyssie was everything Zahara had wanted Faate to be. She loved all her children but Faate had latched onto Sevilin which left Zahara out until Lyssie had come along. Now she could see more of herself in her daughter every single day... Maybe that's why Cerrilia was so pissed off. "I assume you already talked to Zykariel about what happened?"

"It wasn't meant for little eyes. It was meant for my dad who wanted to see everything." Shaking his own head in return. His mother had been the first naked woman he'd seen and he'd stared a little too long for comfort. He just hadn't known they looked like that... "Mine has to have really high slits because of her daggers," he defended without much enthusiasm. But the promise of a secret had him leaning in and then looking at his friend like he'd discovered gold. The vault was full of all kinds of fun things, they all knew that. "How'd you manage that one?"

“That’s anticlimactic.” Obvioulsy he had picked that statement up from someone else as it was said awkwardly but he thought it was appropriate for the moment. “It’s okay to not say you’re sorry when you hit someone because they hit you first, right?” Grinning though at his brother, “Mama can fix anything.”

“We had a brief discussion about how horrifying the whole experience was. I merely told him it could be worse and he was happy to never talk of it again, or even hear it talked about when he’s in the room.” Sevilin was going to keep his own opinion on the matter to himself, Zahara knew what he would think anyway and they both didn’t want him thinking like that. “I’m still wondering why Lyssie would even consider such an assignment.”

“I don’t care the reason. I’d rather not think about it anymore. Besides we have better things to think on.” It was probably cute how Dhairiss was almost sitting on Kelligrin and Kel was as giddy as a three year old in a cookie factory. “Oh you know…I’ve been practicing things. I can get into lots of places now.”

“Not always.” Being objectionable just to be so before a shake of her head. Oh here went the men again on this issue with girls. Which was cute but at the same time not when one or both got irritated.

Malikhai gave his father a flat look. “Yes, best friend.” It didn’t please him that apparently he was obvious about such things. Then again his father was more intuitive into his own children than most people in general. “And if I must say something, she merely cares not to catch on. Plenty of women in the world.” That was his usual thought for it. He’d eventually get over her and she wasn’t the only woman in the world.

"I know you better than that."

But he'd let it slide, not a big deal...before a flicker of his ears and a slight smirking, he'd have to fix that little oversight. never thought his son would take that path.

"But I'll be careful when talking to her, I promise you both. No strong arming, no yelling, just a little question and answer session."

((Because Steph told me to and for the sake of not falling into a span of quiet, and bring on more plotness - Time Switch, say a week. Kaelin's better and what not, mischef continues as always.))

Laying in a hammock suspended between two trees in the solarium…she was trying to keep composed and not transmit over bond waves. When she had come out of reverie this morning, earlier than usual that is, she found herself not burning up or letting out a giggle with her waking yawn. She merely felt slightly heated and the giggles could be stifled. At first, she had been quite thankful that whatever Zahara was doing was working…until she felt something else. She knew exactly what she physically felt…but wasn’t sure exactly how she wanted to emotionally feel about it or mentally process it either. They had always talked about it…but they also always talked about the facts. It had taken her a year to recover from Dhairiss…and now…she hardly wanted to even think about this. Piper knew she had two options, she just wasn’t sure which one she wanted to take yet…which meant she better start making piece with keeping secrets right now. By all elven Gods...what was she going to do about this?

He had stuck by home mostly for the past week more or less tending to work that he did for his father, his own little training exercises and such pleasures and minding Kaelin. Technically he supposed he'd been forbid to go near Vesendar for the time being, just in case he let his emotions get the better of him and do something rash as his father was insistant that he had handled it. Though it did please him to hear that apparently Kaelin's father had had quite the accident of sorts which for the moment left him quite crippled and unable to walk and in terrible pain. He'd like to think that was divine retribution of sorts.

Malik was in his study, reading over the reports...his wife was of course in the solarium....but malik was already on alert. Piper was trying to hide something...the pathways between them constricted somewhat. and that made malik nervous and paranoid. but for now, he was going to arrange to see Kaelin's mother. her father had been crippled and put in constant pain.

Second, he still hadn't seen hide or hair of the grandparents, which annoyed him as well. but that he could deal with, only recently being informed of the death of a parent, he imagined it might take some recovery time. besides his annoyance was more with being kept out of the loop then anything else.

But for now, he was heading out toward the solarium after examining and writing off on the paperwork. His wife had some explaining to do.

Conflicted as she may be, all things seemed less scary and stressing than they were when she was relaxing out here. It was probably the sunshine...even if it wasn't real, it was just as good. She shouldn't worry right? Besides, there was no point to make a self-fulfiling prophecy out of this. Or if this was a problem, maybe nature would take care of things itself. The only things she possibly had to worry about were Malik and Zahara possibly spazzing out about the issue. Yes she was going to call this an issue because it was. Tucking her hands behind her head she closed her eyes, dropping a foot to the ground and giving herself a push and letting momentum take over from there.

Though she did raise an eyebrow and open an eye, turning her head to the figure of Malik wandering over. Hm, that could be good or it could be bad. "Something the matter?" After all, his reasons for coming out here were few.

Knowing that her father was suffering right now, Kaelin really didn't know how to feel. Malikhai had assured her that it was all taken care of and she'd agreed to that plan. But that plan hadn't included anything about making it impossible for her father to defend himself. Her mother would eat him alive. She knew she needed to go back home, if only to make sure her parents weren't killing each other. But first she had to get Khai to understand. And that just wasn't going to happen...

Lyssie had had a chat with both parents but had mostly tuned them out. Mom wanted her to try harder and Dad didn't understand why she was still in school. Was it possible to have parents that might actually get it? Did such elves even exist? She didn't care much for her teacher but she did concede that if the woman stopped being such a b***h to her, Lyssie would stop being a b***h in return. She brought it all on herself anyway. By making Lyssie feel like an idiot, she'd returned the favor by being late to class, not doing assignments and questioning the woman's authority every chance she got. Tit for tat, after all. And if you couldn't work in the cutthroat world of young adult elves, then you shouldn't.

"you are...what are you hiding? I know your hiding something."

Standing just beyond the solarium, and squinting just abit against the light. it still hurt his eyes that adjusted very quickly to the darker lighting of the underfoot. still could see the frown.

"Do I need to get Zahara?"
PostPosted: Wed Feb 25, 2009 9:14 pm

"I suppose you could call it that." Involved husband of hers found his bonds very useful to him and was probably picking up on a bit. It was nice to know he paid attention. Though she let him feel more of her amusement and less of her own apprehension, mostly her reacting to how he always skirted the edges of the place unless he truly felt the need to get closer. Sitting herself up she slipped her boots on and wandered over so that he didn't have to squint too much. "No, you don't need to get Zahara." Taking his hand and pressing the back of it against her cheek, "See, not a furnace. She's good at what she does. I just didn't want to tell you right away in case it was a fluke. You know, so you'd stay on your toes just in case I still was in the stalking mood."

"You know, if you keep worrying so much, you're going to make yourself sick." Her and her odd sense of devotion did yes make him pay a bit more of attention to her. He just didn't comment on that. Only on the facts of her health. Those others could go to hell for all he cared. But leaning against the doorframe and munching on an apple, he watched her a moment before wandering into the room and offering her an apple of her own. "You should do something for you. Otherwise next thing you know my brother is going to pop up to harass you and you know how he is." Which yes he had been fending off his brother who had wanted to make Kaelin feel better in his own way.

He grinned lightly, before getting a quizzically look. that wasn't like piper to hide something like that. she wouldn't hide it she'd be first to show him so she could feel better about things and he wouldn't be concerned about it anymore. So he walked into the solarium, and hissed lightly at his eyes, before focusing on her.

"That's not it, Piper. I know you better then that."

His look was very concerned now. what was she hiding? was it really that bad?

"Are you sure your not sick?"
PostPosted: Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:00 pm

Shaking her head at him lightly she lifted a hand to shade his eyes some. He didn't seem convinced nor happy at all. Which she could use to her advantage but at the same time she really didn't want to strart a fight with him just because it made things perhaps easier. "I promise you I'm not sick. A'mael, I've been flushed and giggly for months straight...of course things are going to feel a tad different now that I'm coming down off of that. We're both just not used to how that feels. I feel off balance again, you're just feeling that from me." Which that was all truth. Not the whole truth, but most of it.

She turned and gazed at him from her seat on the bed, taking the apple and running her newly polished nails over it's thick red skin. Apples reminded her of Andal. It was crazy how the smallest things brought her back to those memories of time spent on the beach, sifting through the painter's shop, and even below the water in Selkor. She watched him for a long moment and without saying anything began to cry.
