The electronic gods are laughing at me I think...I cant work my shift key properly on the left side of my new laptop and it always comes up with funky (not the good funky) characters when ever I hit the apostrophe key. gonk

I understand, dear. My keyboard is haunted. 3nodding

That sounds really awesome, for sure. You know, I don't think we really have book fairs in Canada. At least, not past elementary school.

gaia_nitemareleft

Really? That's a shame. I think book fairs are excellent opportunity for non mainstream authors to get their books out there for people to discover them. Of course in the one we have, there's big coporate publishers that shout out their bestsellers but there's also a good amount of small or independent publishers.

On to another subject, gosh I hate switching from summer time to winter time. I wish we would just keep the one time since it's not really helping. I understand the point of it when people mostly worked out side but these days 24/7 culture it's just an unnecessary cost.

gaia_angelright

Well in Toronto, we have a thing called Word on the Street held in Queen's Park; it caters to the, um, seasoned author/publisher (would that be the right term?). It happens every September in other cities in Canada.

Do you mean like timing for shops and things? Shops closing earlier? Yeah, that's lame. We have that in Canada a little bit, but mostly just the seasonal businesses, like snack shops on beaches.

Ah, sorry, my translation didn't come through as I intended. sweatdrop We call wintertime when you switch from daylight saving time to standard time. When we turn the clocks back one hour. All systems are on hold that night because they have to switch things backwards and it just messes up your inner clock. Also the whole "save daylight" thing is pretty much useless in here since during the winter the sun is up only few hours so there's no point with the whole business since you wont see the daylight anyway. xp

Of course we do have some special summer open times for shops and so on but the main business are open the same way the whole year around these days. Before we had more strict legislation about shops open times during winter.

Daylight Savings Time.

We have that in Canada, must be soon. But not in Bhutan.

Ugh yeah I forgot that was coming right up this weekend for us. I agree it seems to have outlasted it's usefulness.

They're cool...but I dunno...I've grown so attached (ha! grown attached!) to the hair styles that are in the various items I've aquired that I don't think I'll be spending anything on a new do in salon durem.

They look really good on you guys! Kinda expensive for if you don't plan to keep them a while.

So I got to go in for a visual field test today...whatever that is. I've been waiting for new eye glasses for two months but the optical keeps telling me I have the wrong medical documentation to cover the cost of the glasses. They want my finacial statement from the gov't that I get at the end of the month...they wanted it three weeks ago when I went to go get my glasses...duh it comes at the END of the month (well, I pleasantly explained to them that it comes at the end of the month). I hope they won't screw me around and say "oh now we need the statement for NEXT month" scream . I hate the politics of such needs sometimes sweatdrop .

I have to do a visual field test every other year because people in my family history have glaucoma. It's pretty easy really. You cover one eye and stare at a spot in the middle of a screen. Then when lights are shown on various parts of the screen you press a button. It's to test if you've lost any of your peripheral vision or have any larger than normal blind spots.

Well I attempted to go to the planned appointment...and...IT WASN"T EVEN OPEN...I'm a bit pissed I wasted the time and money (it was in another town and I had to pay an extra fare to go...so that was a waste of the little bit of money I had on me today. scream )
