Having built underground, flying enemies aren't really a problem, even if they do get in, they'll never get near any of the NPC's. Also, what's a disappearing roof? o wo
I've also lined the outside of the whole place with dungeon bricks, so it's clown-proof. And those lava pits help out a bunch during a goblin invasion, and to top it all off, they're shallow enough that they don't destroy loot drops either. ^^

Using Active/Inactive blocks, wires, and switches, you can make a whole roof appear and disappear whenever you want. ^^ The same setup also allows you to make ground-level doors that no enemy, including Goblins, can get through... but clowns could still be a problem, yes. o.O Also, http://awhorelesshorizon.tumblr.com/post/57114172699(Be sure to press the play button for the soundtrack)
