Feleoness Vengence of Areashine @ MojinR: That's a good song! When I saw who it was by,... I had to check it out! I liked "Mr. Brightside" (even though it was over-played,) "When You Were Young," "Somebody Told Me," and my fav: "All These Things That I've Done." I'm going to have to listen to more! I like all of those too! I didn't realize I was a fan of The Killer until I glanced at playlist of my mp3 player. And it's very cold! Geez this cold wave needs to pass.

@MojinR: I've only heard their songs on the radio. From what I hear, I like them but I actually haven't gotten their CD yet.
@Feleoness: Great video, my interview wasn't quite like that though. *laughs* So you're a teacher for hire then?

Yeah, I get to be the party pooper that insists on getting the work done that their teacher left, but if they work with me, we usually have some free time. I mostly work within the same schools so they've gotten to know me and and I know alot of them. Most of 'em love "Mrs. V" *peace sign* except a few who wanted to butt heads with me. They found out I'm even more hard-headed than them! I've had more years to build up my hard candy coated shell! cool
And boy do I agree about this cold! They said the last time it was this cold here, it was Dec of '06. And it's only going to get colder this weekend. We're talking hard freeze. Now yall up North are probably laughing at me, 'cuz I know you're better prepared for this kind of weather from dealing with it more often, but your temps are even colder than you're used to dealing with, right? This Winter is proving to be quite dangerous. I don't even want to think about dealing with any busted pipes out in that cold! And we better not lose electricity or we lose our heat. What do we do then? Boy, I wish I had a generator.
Hey, there's an idea. Is there such thing as a battery powered electric blanket?

My Grandma always talks about the weather when she emails me. But us talking about the weather isn't a sign that we're getting old, right? I mean this is news worthy weather, right? *whispers* Somebody tell me I'm not that old...
I'm going to dowload some of those songs. What other bands have you found?

Yes it is! We had several inches of snow before Christmas here (Keizer/Salem, OR) and that is so rare. On top of that it lasted a week in many spots. I've seen the snow several inches here before, but I've never seen it last more than two days.

It got so cold that my truck's fuel lines froze... that sucked. I missed a day of work because of that.
I hate calling off. It makes me feel like I'm a useless worker. sad

Plus who can afford to miss a day right now?
We also had a very mild summer for us this last year. It just didn't get as hot as it usually does.
I know this isn't just me and getting older because we boffer in the park every other weekend and we didn't go through the water like we usually do. I've supplied it (the water) for 5 summers now. Also, we only had to quit because of the heat one day.

Just because we talk about the weather doesn't mean that we're getting old. We're just talking about something that everyone can talk about!
I know in MO, they have -40F weather there. I think it's been 5 years since it's been this cold in MI, but I could be wrong.

Well, the Governor of our state decided to grant us a 4 day weekend. Not an election year granted... but because the last storm that swept through on December 26th BLACKED OUT THE WHOLE ISLAND. So, in precaution to what happen last time, they've closed all the schools and told state workers that only "necessary personnel" should come in. Well, I'm fine with that. It's a 4 day weekend for me, I don't have to teach, my husband is in town until Tuesday so we can have a little something something, and I can finish packing up my christmas stuff. I hate the storm but I'm glad for the time off.

That's pretty awesome, not the storm of course, but just to have a extra couple of days off is nice.

Vengence of Areashine That's pretty awesome, not the storm of course, but just to have a extra couple of days off is nice. Yeah it's been nice staying home... but the storm wasn't as big as the National Weather Center had anticipated. The storm changed directions at the last minute but it was too late to open schools or call people back to work plus there was some very damaging winds on parts of the island. But you know you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.. well, people who missed work or didn't know what to do with the children at home complained that the Governor shouldn't have called the emergency. Well, these are the same people who complained the last time the storm came through and the schools weren't closed and the power went out and they said "why didn't you close the school for the safety of the children". You know my opinion is this ~ it is better to err on safety for the children because from last experience our school was damaged and we had a situation where the electrical wires were sparking from the rain and set the roof on fire. It was scary and the kids had to be evacuated through the flooded school in the storm. It was a nightmare and parents were all over Administration for the trouble. So damned if you do and damned if you don't. And to hell with those parents who can't spend even a day with their own child resting from the storm.
