Well look at it this way: If Malik thinks Piper is dead then he'll go after Kaden. Kaden is so nuts that he's going to hold that chain when Malik comes after him, if only to have Malik butcher up her body. And also, if Malik does do say slice Kaden in two, believing she's dead, then he will REALLY kill Piper as well. Flawed plan.

I don't like a plan where other characters can't invlove themselves.
Other then that, I'll keep my two cents to myself.
No one bothers to pay attention to it anyway.

Not to point fingers but there's been several plots where characters couldn't involve themselves thus far.

As a whole, we have a habit of creating out own personal storyline with as little entry to them as possible for other actors.
We control the settings and situations to such a degree, that other people cannot get actively involved.
That, or too much happens too quickly and people feel left out.
