Once again, Kimberely studied the match with intesity. Of course, she didn't appear to be studying it intensely, in fact, to the passer-by, it merely looked as though she were watching a boring movie because she simply had nothing better to do. She had not moved the whole time, sitting there and watching. Most of the time it appeared to be a normal, competitive game of volleyball, but it was leaning more and more towards the bizarre now.
Firstly, after a few notably seclusive whispers between teammates, it became apparent that the fair-play value of the match was headed downhill. After the net arched upwards to intercept a serve, obviously manipulated by an outside force, it became open-season for power misuse. One of the members called forth a thick smog of black mist which enveloped the opposing team.
Sighing a little and shaking her head, Kim's face exuded a look of disappointment. Here she was, watching a match between some of the most talented young people to grace the planet, and... no, it had sunk below the level of "match" now. For people to bring out such cheap tactics at such an early part of the game was a significant symptom that the volleyball game was no longer a match-up of skilled competitors, but a shameless opportunity for egotistical young hot-headed people to get as many one-ups on the other teams as possible. If it were allowed to escalate to quickly, the match would likely turn into something a little less than sporting.
Standing up slowly and patting the sand from her sarong, she slung her spaghetti-string handbag over her shoulder and fished around in them to find a small pair of shades. The sun had been so warm, she'd intended to put them on earlier, but her interest in the game had moved the thought from her mind. Slipping them on, she walked quietly towards the players, easily in sight. She figured she could coax them into calming down slightly if they knew a teacher was watching them. Then again, many of her male students seeked to gain her favour by trying to impress her, but that was a slim chance here.
She walked until she was about 30 feet away from the court, standing at the side between both sides. Then she folded her arms and stood at ease, barefoot in the sand, observing through her dark lenses with an expression that denoted no solid emotion whatsoever. Many of the players were too engrossed in the game to notice her, but a few glanced in her direction and seemed unsure of what to do or say about it. Kim got the faint whiff of whatever that black cloud was and wrinkled her nose a tad until it passed. she could also feel Jacen's ever-present aura of negativity, it was unusually potent at the moment. Pleasant.
Finally, after several glances were cast in her direction, she simpyl said, "Don't mind me." Knowing very well that certain people WOULD mind.

OOC: Mmmkay, sick of waiting, so I'll pick players who I'm fairly sure won't mind playing. Basically cuz I think it'll give a fun dynamic, but if you dont wanna be part of it, just let me know and I'll go get edit-happy ^_^
IC: Pietro nodded at Corky, wondering if she could extend her powers to sand for a moment considering most glass is made of molten sand. Of course, he wouldn't have to if that Sasha girl was anywhere to be found, but she'd apparently gone off to walk the beach with her cousin or something. It figured the one time that annoying girl might become useful, she was nowhere to be found.
"Hmm... ok, Victoria and Corky, you'll be here, as will..." Pietro began. He disappeared, and immediately reappeared with a confused looking Pyro. "John here. Now John, I know we've had our differences in the past, but if the Brotherhood loses here, we have to become slaves to the X-Men. I'll let you do the math as to how a certain master of all things magnetism will react to that news (and believe it or not, that Xavier b*****d brags such s**t to him all the time). I've called you all together because I have a plan... though for the MOMENT, we won't need to do too much. We only need to beat these first crop of X-losers, and then we'll have to face Wanda. So here's how we're gonna do it..."
Pietro whispered to each member their "jobs". ((OOC: Look for a PM guys wink ))
He then smiled and grabbed his own personalized volleyball. "Silver Streak" was written on the side along with a chibi-fied picture of his face. "Alright!" he shouted to the opposing team ((I'm not sure who so feel free to speak up)), "Let's start this s**t!"
He tossed the ball up in the air and served it without any warning to either team.

Courtney crinkled her nose and studied the area. She could do it. Sand did make glass, and there were beer bottles, glass cups, and windows in the area. It wouldnt be too hard, it would just piss her off for a while. Corky hated using her powers, and this wouldn't be the exception. However, she was pretty sure that combined with other people's on her team, they could be pretty unstopable.
So she followed what Pietro said, making a medium thickness glass sheet on the side of the opposing team. You could only see it if you had really good eyes, because of the position of the sun. She did this all by mind, and was slightly disgusted on how it all worked. All the glass in the area condensed into one sheet, along with sand to give it durability. Corky's powers weren't that hard to control which was why she was so go at it considering she had only knowingly had it for a few months. The only section she had trouble in was absorbtion.
And idea struck her. "Question." She raised her hand, as if in school. "I'm under the assumption people aren't allowed to get hurt?" What she was thinking was devious. And, people would get hurt, maybe infected, but from what she pulled together, this was a hardcore mutant vs. mutant thing. Like Darwin.

"Well," Pietro said as he casually returned the ball. He wasn't paying attention to the other team in the slightest. He could wait for the ball to get within three inches of the ground and still get to it without even straining himself, so for now there wasn't any reason to worry about the other team. "We can't MAIM them, dear Corky... but then again I'm sure accidents do happen..."

"Oh, I see. Accidents. Nice choice of words." She grinned. No one would get maimed, it was nothing a healing freak couldn't handle. She wasn't that terrible. This was a very rare side of Courtney coming out. She never got competitive, but something today made her want to win. It was like she had to prove herself to the X-Men and Brotherhood that she wasn't as vapid and shallow as they thought. That she could be downright dangerous if she wanted to.

Regina glanced over at the new person standing as if she had some authority. "Excuse me..., I hope this doesn't sound rude, but who are you?"
Gen glanced over. The woman reminded her of Porter on a day when he actually decided to act like a teacher. But it was vacation and none of the teachers were there so who was she? She squeaked and accidently froze the net when she saw the ball coming at her. Hiting it hard in her surprised state, the ball soared through the net and hit the other side since they seemed to be distracted by the person as well..
"Oops... Sorry... New net?" Gen said with a sheepish grin.
"Does that mean point for our side or just our ball?" Porter asked, waiting patiently.

"I'll be good and say keep the ball," Freya told them with a smile.
After a while, the score was 0 to 6 for X-2. Freya and Wanda asked for a break and both sat on the court next to another, taking their breath. It was clear that they were in disavantage. Even with Wanda's hex powers, they couldn't keep this up forever. The Scarlet witch was fulming but the blond was still grinning. A little meeting started. They were talking low enough to understand each other only.
"The cheap of gas trick came out earlier than expected. But I should have known since they didn't like that little net trick," said Freya.
"We need a break, Freya. You can't expect us to get 30 points without a rest. And they have releavers but we're alone," replied Wanda between her teeth.
"I think it's time to go full power and play with the rules. All you will do now, is block the powers of one of them just like you do so well or mess up with their powers. But no cheap tricks. I want this to be a fair win."
With a sigh, Wanda nodded. Both of them stood up and took their position. It was X-2 turn to serve and Gen, once more, iced the ball. Freya yelled to Wanda to get out of the way and just when the ball was about to hit the ground, a sand geiser came under the ball, throwing it high above the sky and the spirit of the wind waited there, in the sky and using her wind powers, she threw back the ball so fast and so hard that it hit the middle of the X-2 court, causing a sand blast.
The sand geiser was, in fact, the spirit of the earth: she was an elf with eyes of color of young spring leaves, long auburn hair decorated with a crown made of leaves, wearing green and brown elf clothes and long brown boots. She was holding a bow in her right hand and had a quiver full of arrows on her back. From afar, a wolf's howl could be heard very faintly when she appeared.
Such spirits were usually as tall as humans. Freya smiled and asked Windy to go down.
"Windy, not so harsh next time please? It's just a game," she told the spirit with a smile before turning to the other one. "Thank you Sylph. That was a close one. The ball please."
As the ball was threw in their directions, four other spirits appeared by the side of the court: a fire female that looked like a genie with fire hair, an ice one that vaguely looked like one of the Shiva's from the final fantasy series, a water one with long sea green hair, blue skin, short robe and with scales here and there on her skin and finally one with a faint halo of light around her. The only colors that could describe were white and gold.
"Now we will have some fun too, scheming and all," told Freya to the other team, completely ignoring Kim's presence.

((OOC: Soryy..posted edited to relect what Hawk said below... sweatdrop ))
Victoria smiled and nodded. Pietro's plan sounded like a good idea, a great idea even, and if everything when at he planned, they would have a slave by sunset. She found this extremely hilarious.
An instant later, bean pole had ran to get John, returned started the game with a sharp, unannounced serve. Figuring that Pietro and Corky could handle the front line, she stood in far right corner, waiting and watching for an opportune moment. She took a "ready" stance and watched as Corky made a thin layer of glass form on the side of the court nearest the opponants. She couldn't exactly she what she was going to do with it over there, but figure it had something to do with the plan. Oh! The plan
Victoria smiled maliciously as she remember what Pietro had told her to do. Waiting until the ball was flying over to the opponant, she screamed as loud as humanly possible...except. Instead of letting the sound radiate across the beach, she gathered it into two equally sized "bubbles" and flung them at both corners of the opponats half of the net. At her will the bubbles "popped" and the screams erupted. Not loud enough to make their ear drums bleed, but enough to make them ring for a while.
((Is this better? If not...I can fix it ...again sweatdrop ))

Oniongirl ((Going with the current flow...))

Figuring that Pietro and Corky could handle the front line, she stood in far right corner, waiting and watching for an opportune moment. She took a "ready" stance and watched as Corky made a thin layer of glass form under the opponnts feet. Oh, so sneaky! Obviously, their opponants didn't see what had happened, because the next time one of them went to serve, he slipped and fell flat on his a**.
Victoria laughed as the ball fell with a dull "thunk" on the other side of the net. "One point for us right?" she said, still not entirely sure of how this game was played.
((Sorry..I'm in a rush right now...I'll edit it later if needed sweatdrop )) OOC: Ack! Nope... the glass is off to the side, it's there for something much more evil than making people slip... Though come to think of it that is a good idea... but it's not what Corky posted sadly sad

Jacen was growing rather bored of this literal power struggle between both teams. Though the show of the spirits was something awe-inspiring, it seemed like it was a little too egregious.
"The hell?!," Jacen said as the four spirits took Wanda and Freya's spots on the court and started to play.
"Everyone just hold the ******** on for a moment!!!," Jacen yelled at the opposing team while signalling for his team to round 'em up.
"Alright, listen. This isn't going to be pretty at all," he said while looking over everyone. "These spirits are equal, if not surpassing both of the girl's powers combined. I want everyone to stay sharp, keep focused, and if you're feeling tired, for God's sake, we've two extra people out here."
"I'm fine," Teagan said, with her Irish accent starting to get a bit heavier at the moment.
"Same here," Porter replied.
"Yea....shoulder hurts a bit, but I'm good," Gen said.
Jacen looked at Evelyn. She was kind of quiet at the moment. It appeared she was studying their new opponents. "Evelyn?"
"Oh...yea, I'm good. No worries, hon," she said as she reached over and rested her hand on his shoulder for a second.
"Alright. Like I said, stay sharp and focused. And remember. We need to win by two points," Jacen said, invoking thoughts of Tom Landry and Mike Ditka, "Let's try to shut them down as quickly as we can."

rawkingpop How rude. Just coming up to someone you don't know and demanding to know who they are. Courtney did her best to shrug it off, seeing as half the people she had met recently had the same reaction. No "Hi, how do you do?" or "I don't believe I've had the pleasure, my name is blahdiddyblahblah.". It was completely barbaric. Corky realized she came from upper-class America, but she didn't think people acted so crude.
"My name is Courtney, thanks. Yourself?" She said this politely, trying to show Regina that no, she didn't take offense. "Is there a problem?"
|| I'm assuming she meant Corky...though I'm free to edit. : ) OOC: Actually, I think she's referring to Psylight...
