"Yes, she probably will. But wouldn't you rather miss playing outside than school come Monday?" She returned to her soup, sipping in silence and making sure he was eating all of his. It was important he ingest as much medicine as possible. "Yes, I can. But let's wait till you get better so we don't have to wash him twice, okay? Besides, don't you want him to keep you company this weekend?"

"Licking wounds takes place after the party. Besides, it's as much for me as it is for all of you. And there's some new chicks in town that want to meet me." Flashing them both his Inthara grin that had melted many a female resolve (and her clothes) in a few seconds. "So yes, come and enjoy yourselves. Kaelin you need to get out more, sweetheart."

She glanced at him at the endearment and shook her head. "I get out just enough, thank you." Her hands moved to Malikhai's shoulders and she gently slid down off the horse, landing next to the other elf. "I suppose a dance or two won't hurt and a drink is always nice as well." Alcohol seemed to take the sting out of a punch or slap later. "If Malikhai wants to come, I will too."

He made a face. "I know but I'm fixing that problem. And making my cloak soundless, too. I've been practicing moving without making the swishing sound." Falling into easy step beside the surface elf and then frowning. "That's abnormally creepy. Hasn't anyone figured out what's wrong with her yet?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 08, 2009 10:50 pm

"I 'spose so." Setting down his spoon, he picked up his bowl and sipped the remainder of broth from the bowl. "We're not talking. We had a fight. He said I should stay home today. I told him he was wrong." Obviously the manifestation of children knowing what they should do but doing the opposite. Rawr often served as the voice of reason for the Inthara children as he traded hands. "You think she's gonna make me eat more soup?"

"Where do you meet all these people?" Then again, Zykariel did live here now...which was kind of weird. They were about the same age and Khai was still living in his parents place after all. He just...never really had the need to move and his parents weren't pushing him out the door. Not to mention he worked for his father more or less which made it all convienent. Plopping his arms around Kaelin's shoulders he gave her a grin, "Of course I'll come to said party. What kind of manager would I be if I didn't?"

"How do you make a cloak soundless with no swooshing? That's what they do." Pondering that question in his own head a moment before shaking it and going back to that goofy expression he wore. "Hey don't call my mom creepy. It's apparently a girl Andalian thing. That's all dad says. You going to watch your brother too?"

She watched him finish his soup then reached over and took his bowl, washing it up and her own as well. "Ah, well then I'll wash him as soon as lunch is finished." Because Rawr wouldn't be satisfied until he was clean and could safely not infect Kit anymore. She understood, it was her logic once at work, too. "Yes, I do. Moms do that, you know. Come on, let's go get you settled in bed. Want me to read you a book?"

"You really don't want to know so don't ask that question." Giving his friend a nudge and then stepping back as Kaelin joined them on the ground. "Good. Then I'll see you guys after and I'll save you a few drinks. You're going to need them."

That just didn't sound like it was going to be a party she'd really want to be going to but she knew the way Malikhai was and knew he'd keep her safe. Regardless. "A wise one?" It was more of a joke than anything else and she wrapped an arm around his waist in response. "Come on, let's go get a seat."

"You wear it carefully and learn how it moves then learn to move with it. Very simple, actually. Quite useful for sneaking." Giving his friend a grin and then shrugging. "But it's been going on a long time and even my mom knows that's not normal. It'd be like if her instincts hung around for a year without break. Something's going on with that. And I really don't want to think about how many times your parents have done things in the last how many months either so don't go there." Giving a nod to his question. "Family thing, I guess. Besides, it's the only time we get to see him unless he comes home for dinner."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 08, 2009 11:17 pm

"Yes, that's right. you are to see if you can convince him your me. and there are things between me and your brother you don't know."

crossing her arms lightly.

"Keep ignoring my class and failing your tests, and it'll only get worse. I've no time for your games. You want to drop this course, that's one thing. but if your not going to, you'll be here on time and do as I say."

smirking.

"Be happy the administration wouldn't allow me to give you the original two names I wanted."

"But what if she makes something really really good for dinner because Zykariel visits?" Food menus always changed when there was word that Zykariel was going to be around for dinner. He dropped by for short visits usually but staying for dinner of the night seemed like an occassion. But not fighting it he got out of the chair and headed upstairs with his sister. "Yes. About pirates."

"Probably don't." Shaking his head. It was funny how changed and yet unchanged both of them were and yet still so close. "That kind of party hm? Well then, go out there and don't lose too badly. I'll pretend to be severly disappointed." Chuckling as her kept his arm around Kaelin and they wandered off from Zykariel to the stands, or more pointely the good seats that he was privy to by being a manager and a D'vinn as well. "Either a wise one, or a very unfun one." Letting her sit down before he took a seat next to her.

"Seems like a lot more work than needed just to walk around. "I'd avoid your mother if that happened." The two boys weren't ignorant to what any of it meant really, they just didn't like to discuss it too much. "Aw come on, don't talk about that...I already heard more than I needed to today from them themselves." Making a face before a shake of his head, turning to other subjects. "I think Malikhai sees him more than you all do. I can't imagine that with Khai though. It would be weird to not have him around."

"We'll see how you're feeling and decide from there, Kit. Don't worry about it. Mama won't leave you out of something like that and you know it. And even if she does, Dad will do something instead." She walked him upstairs and got him all settled into bed then sat down next to him and picked up the book their mother had grabbed for him from the library. A book about pirates indeed. "Once a long long time ago..."
--
"Your brother and I," Lyssie muttered under her breath then glanced down at the paper again. Somehow she had a feeling that the other two names she'd like even less. "They shouldn't have allowed to give you the names they did," she shot right back then listened as the entirety of the class tittered and began to talk. Lyssie was not going to bow down to this b***h, regardless of what she thought or did. Taking her seat, she folded her hands and quirked a brow. "Just what is the object?" If she couldn't convince Zykariel, maybe she could bribe him to give it to her anyway. After all, it wasn't like she could do her test right now.

"Too much fun would spoil the stoic, in control look you're always going for." Giving him a sweet smile and then turning her attention back to the races--that hadn't begun yet. "Do you ever get tired of being his manager?"

"Ugh, I hate it when parents do that. Like we really want to know." Dhairiss was exactly right but Zykariel hadn't been around all that much when he was growing up. It wasn't really a fault thing either, just that there hadn't been much time between racing and everything else he did. Or he hadn't made the time... "Yeah but I don't think you ever have to worry about that."

"Yeah, but I have trouble holding onto that look anyway. You know me." Chuckling lightly and giving her a smile before a little bit of a considering look. "No, I don't think so. It has it's own exciting things I think. Then again I've always liked business ventures that have a bit of risk factor to them. I don't think that there's any bigger risk that Zykariel."

He gave a snickering laugh, "You mean the fact that the likelihood of Malikhai leaving home is slim?" Shrugging lightly, after all he didn't show any signs of setting up his own place yet, even on the property. "Oh well, he'll have to deal with me then." Giving a tug on Kelligrin's cloak, "Come on, I'll race ya!" Thusly starting off into a sprint.

She read to him until she watched his eyes slip closed and felt his body relax beside her as he slipped into reverie. Crazy little boy. Tucking him in the bed more fully, she set the book on the nightstand, picked Rawr up from his place on the chair and left the room. Rawr was carefully washed then left to dry and Faate made her way to the races in enough time to see them begin.

"I don't mind that look but I like the one you get when you're excited about something so much better." His whole face would just light up and his eyes took on a strange twinkling quality. It was really something to behold...she'd even painted that very look once. "There's always been a relationship that I don't really understand, but I'm glad you're his manager and not someone else who would push him too hard. You know just the right amount of force to use without trapping him."

"It'll never happen." Just like Faate probably wouldn't leave his home ever. Some kids just stuck around. But the thrill of competition, even with his best friend, was too sweet to deny. "Oh no you don't!" Taking off right after him and staying neck and neck. They were both in great shape and had raced like this many times before.

"Oh you mean that boyish one like I just discovered the greatest thing in the world?" Squeezing her closer to his side for a moment in a sort of half hug where they sat. This girl...it had to be her that was the one that got to him, and yet the only one he seemingly couldn't have or didn't want him in the way he'd rather have her. Some days it sucked. "Well, me and him go back to infants so yeah, I don't think anyone gets our particular relationship. Manager position included. Like it or not, he's spend all his money on the fun things life has to offer if I didn't direct him." Chuckling lightly before seemingly settling some in his seat, "Never trap, that's the first rule. Anything you trap, fails you." Looking over to her, "You sure you want to go to the party tonight?"

Which meant they were racing across the underdark, neither of them winning and more or less running for the thrill of running and making it on time to the stadium. And with the way they could seemingly carry one without stop running, they made it there in good time. Which included climbing over the walls and plopping into the top seats in the risers. "I love it when this place has something going on. There's so much stuff."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 09, 2009 8:56 pm

Resting her head against his shoulder, she laughed. "Yes, that one." She listened to him for a moment, turning her gaze back to the stadium where things were starting to move in various directions. Jockeys were walking onto the field, horses were being led by trainers and the judges were scanning the track one last time. "Yes, Malikhai. You need to go as his manager and I'd like to come with you. You're such a good dancer."

It wasn't about winning just like it wasn't about seeing who could kill the other one in the Underdark. They had a very bizarre code about their games that most wouldn't understand. "I know. All these people and all this stuff." Then grinning as an announcer came on to notify them all the first legs of the races would be starting.

Faate settled into her own seat on the other side of the stadium, watching by herself. It was easier that way and she didn't have to worry about anyone bothering her. She pushed her long braid over her shoulder, let her arms rest easily on the knees of her skirt and leaned forward to see a bit more of the race. Hopefully, it would be an exciting one.

That got a surprised blink from him and a chuckle as he looked to her. "I'm a good dancer? I suppose. Though I don't like to be the spotlight. Suppose all that fancy swordsmanship training paid off though, I am at least flexible." Chuckling again before propping a boot up on the low wall before him. "If all else fails, we can always go sit outside like we always do."

"All the stuff? What are you half pickpocket too? Oh you know what, you should drop by my place next time you have some free time. I found this awesome dagger and I though you'd want to take a look at it. Don't ask where I got it though." Giggling to that notion before a point. "Hey look, it's your sister!" pointing indeed across the stadium to the oldest Inthara girl before whistling loudly. "FAATE! HIYA FAATE!" And plopping into his seat next to his friend again.

"Would I lie to you? No, I would not." Not about that anyway. Other things, things that would hurt and upset him, yes, she'd lie in a heartbeat to spare him the pain. Even if it meant taking on more herself. "When it gets too wild and crazy for mellow elves like us." Her attention turned back to the grounds where Zykariel was just walking out. "Here we go! Good luck, Zykariel!" Yelled between cupped hands after which she encircled Malikhai's arm to keep herself from getting too excited.

Faate sunk quite low in her seat as her name was called and attention was drawn to her. She hated it when he did that... Giving a slight wave back, she crossed her arms and focused her attention firmly on the grounds.

"I've been practicing and I even managed to steal from my mom without her knowing." Giving a grin to that. "I'll give it back, don't worry. And I'll do that. If it's right for throwing, you know I want to see it." Though what his friend did next wasn't so great. "Do you have a crush on my sister?" Kelligrin demanded, yanking Dhairiss back into his seat. "Because if you don't, sit down and stop that. You know she gets mad when you do that."

Zykariel did indeed step out into the stadium amidst the chaotic cheers that went up everytime he appeared. He was loved, he couldn't help it. He was a damn good racer and they all knew it, too. His opponents received respectful nods as they all mounted up. He'd learned long ago to respect not only the other horses but his fellow racers. They were all in it together even if they were competing.

The race was over as soon as it had begun with Zykariel sailing in in third place. Enough to make them all think he'd really given it a good try but also enough to teach a certain rookie a lesson. He was cocky and pushed his horse in too fast which wouldn't win the race in the long one. He'd been planning on taking fourth but it was better the kid learn now instead of later. Giving a wave to the chorus of mixed reception, he patted Destyny and clapped the winner on the back, offering his congratulations.

"The object is different for each participant. You'll have to find a way to inquire about it without giving yourselves away. which is of course part of the test. but I will giv eonly the hin that the item is of a personal nature between the two people. I had the first names personally deliver them to the second for this test alone."

smirking lightly at the stubborn girl.

"Go ahead, Inthara...Test me. You mother may be a teacher at this school, but my class is mine. and don't think I can't, or won't, make your time with me miserable if I feel the need to do so to get it through your scattered brain that work and dedication to what you are doing are more important then your sex life, or socail butterfly wings."

“Not much at least.” Nodding lightly as she followed up on their usual activities. That’s the way it usually went. They’d get tipsy the rest of the place got rowdy and they would go sit outside in the semi-quiet and wait till things started to slake off. He didn’t cheer for his friend, he never did. Fawning was for his variable harem, cheering for his more casual friends. Malikhai usually just looked down at him with a smile and a particular grin, a light nod and Zykariel knew that was all there need be said.

Despite the plan being to lost a few horses back, it was still a good race. Zykariel made sure they knew he was competition but perhaps he was off his game that day. It proved him both beatable and worthy to keep winning over. Of course the lie of that was just that, a lie but at least it made for some interesting races to come. Pulling Kaelin up, he had to take a moment to pay off bets and stuff as well as receive their own placement earnings before they headed back down to Zykariel. “Still having to put the cocky ones in their places, hm?”

He gave a little cringe at the force used to pull him down but then grinned at his friend all the same. “If she came to sit with us, she wouldn’t have to worry about anyone bothering her. And no, I don’t have a crush on her pretty as she may be. She just never seems to enjoy herself in public. “ Shrugging innocently enough as if he really didn’t know any better and knowing him, he probably didn’t.

He led Destyny back to her stall and glanced up as his manager and best friend showed back up like normal. "He's a good kid but he's got a lot to learn if he's going to go anywhere in this business. He loves the horses and the sport which is the most important thing when you're just starting off. Those in it for the glory never stay long." He took to brushing her down and then slipped a piece of paper to Malikhai. "Here's the address of the party. It's not at my house this time."

"We'll be there."

"She doesn't like to feel crowded." Glancing across the stadium at his sister, he watched the subtle movements that told him that she really was having fun. "She enjoys herself in her own way. She doesn't just like to draw attention to herself and cheering or grinning like a fool does just that." But he couldn't quite escape the feeling that something might be wrong.

Lyssie's eyes took on the sheen of defiance. She wasn't about to let this woman win. "Do whatever you want but don't neglect the rest of the class while you do so. Personal vendettas only get you so far." And she had plenty of proof that it was happening. Packing up her books, she threw her bag over her shoulder and stalked out of the class. She'd get that damn object from Zykariel, regardless of what she had to do for it.
