Well in tune with her children, Zahara had been watching him nibble at his sandwich more than eat it and he'd not been nearly as enthusiastic about the cookie she'd tucked into his lunch pail either. Lifting a hand, she rested it against his cheek lightly, noting the telltale look of illness in his eyes. She had two more classes after lunch and an afternoon disciplinary session with some of the miscreants as well, but she had time to take him home. It was still hard to believe that she'd had another child after hers had been stolen. Oopses tended to work that way though. Kithaan was most like his father in temperament without the sudden burst of emotion her other children seemed to favor. Fourteen years had changed many things.

It had been a slow transition but Zykariel had eventually taken over most of her job. She wasn't upset with her son because it had helped him to grown up and settle down instead of being such a rebellious child but not having anything to occupy herself left her feeling bored and unsatisfied. An unfortunate accident had left the school with a position and she'd been approached. It hadn't taken long before she was teaching a handful of classes and later even expanding the curriculum and adding a more advanced class as well. "Very good, Kit. Why don't I take you home and you can just take it easy, hm? I just have to make sure your sister is in school..."

Said sister was indeed in school but she wasn't learning. Instead, she was sitting in an empty classroom while her latest flame tried to convince her to let him go just a little bit further...

Zahara stood up and disposed of the trash, then held out a hand to her son. Her daughter's usual table was empty which meant all the popular kids were skipping class and rallying somewhere. She sighed, picking up her bag and taking her son's hand. "Let's go find your sister."

Lyssthyren was just coming out of the classroom all perfectly put back together when she caught sight of her mother coming down the hall. "s**t." Shoving the boy back in the room, she pulled the door shut and grabbed a book from her bag, moving down the hall as if she was the good girl going to class.

"Lyssie." She ground her teeth as her daughter kept on walking. "Lyssthyren."

The teenager's head whipped around in surprise, her curled hair floating like a cloud. "Oh, hi Mom. Didn't see you. Can't talk, have to go to class. Love ya."

"I'm taking your brother home because he's not feeling well, but I'll be back. Go to class, young lady. You have a test today. And don't leave that boy you were with stuffed in the closet too long. He might suffocate."

Destyny was still his girl. He had many women but he only had one that he referred to as his. She'd been with him in the good times and bad and helped him bring home more than enough trophies and awards over the years. Fourteen years ago he'd still been a rookie. A very good rookie, but one nonetheless. Now, he was in his prime. He'd finished school and moved out of his parent's house, the winnings setting him quite nicely on the outskirts of Vesendar. He ran his own stable now, breeding race horses and had taken over most of his mother's stock as well as added a few specialties of his own. Drink was free, women were plenty, and he couldn't be beat on or off the racetrack. Life was good. He'd never forgotten the lessons from his youth and only that single mistake that had cost so much had stopped him from becoming way too cocky to handle.

Faate was studying, still living at home and usually sequestering herself away inside the library to practice and learn runes. She was not the social butterfly like her sister and much preferred quiet contemplation. Faate was closer to her father than Lyssie was conversation-wise but Faate hated the way her younger sister seemed to smile and get whatever she wanted. Even her father was not immune to Lyssie's tricks and he knew they were tricks! Just that morning Lyssie had gotten him to agree to go to the race even though she'd failed a test and had school the next day. Surprisingly, she'd grown much closer to her older brother as they'd both grown older and that was the only reason she was going to the race tonight.

Life had resumed as normal for Kaelin. She'd come back from Andal with many memories she'd locked away along with the paint set that had been taken from her. She'd found it before they could destroy it and hidden it away again, only painting when she could take a long walk into the woods in total seclusion. Malikhai had swiftly become her best friend and he knew more about her than anyone else, even the bad. Rubbing salve over a sore spot on her shoulder, she fixed her clothes and quietly slipped out of the house to wait for him.

Not as rambunctious as his older brother but not nearly as quiet as his younger, Kelligrin was a mass of contradictions. He prided himself on remaining a mystery and dove into learning to master every weapon he possibly could. That was where his interest was: weaponry. He preferred to fight armorless and with his fists but was fairly skilled with swords, an expert in throwing blades, and quickly learning archery. Dhairiss had become his pal since both boys were fairly easy going. The killer Inthara smile got him pretty much anything he wanted and he sampled life's fruits with cautionary ease. He trusted few and befriended even less. Dhairiss was the one exception and his family. He'd do anything in the world for them.

Kit blinked at his mother, still not quite sure how she managed to know when he wasn't feeling well, even when he didn't complain about it. "Will you bring me my homework when you come home later?" Taking her hand as she got up and following her out to run into his sister. "Lyssie, don't be bad." Tugging on his mother's hand. "What if no one is home?"

Sevilin of course had come home for lunch and to check on things in the house before going back to work, eating something Zahara had left him usually or something Faate decided to cook up when she wasn't lost in studying. Leaving Nym what was left of his food, he was once again going over the reports he had in hand, adding in notes and the like. He liked to double and triple check his reports before handing them into Malik. More or less being regent of an area was more fun that he thought it would be honestly and it kept him occupied in his down time.

Granted, he never liked the afternoon quiet in the house. What with Zykariel jumping the nest soon as he was able, he had taken most of the noise with him. Lyssie liked to be out of the hosue, as did Kel and Faate and Kit were just quiet. It unnerved him a tad. Walking past his eldest daughter's room, he knocked on the door in passing. "You need a break Faate."

It never took him long to make his way to Vesendar, or more pointedly to where him and Kaelin met. She didn't like him coming to her house...and he knew the reason but felt like he couldn't do anything about it. She got defensive if he brought it up and refused to admit to anything. When they were younger and he was powerless it bothered him less, but now older and unable to stave off the feelings he had for her. Which was very very hard. But he came trotting up on Jerick, dashing smile in place and pulling the horse to a stop, hopping down. "Kaelin. All ready to see Zykariel make a big deal of himself?"

"Yes, yes I know."

patting his wife's hand before turning his eyes to his youngest again.

"How many times must we go through this. it's one thing to venture to the borders of the empire, I don't mind that. but you like to taunt people expecting your status to spare you. and it's going to bite you in the a** one of these days."

Before giving more attention to his wife.

"Then you go have fun, and me and your mother can enjoy some time together."

Cerrilia sat patiently. Zahara didn't know her, but she knew Zahara...and narrowed her eyes at Lyssthyren as she came to her class.

"How nice of you to join us."

Cerrilia needed this job. and this school was notorious for disposing of teachers that could not control their students.

"Since you want to disregard the scheduling, you can handle today's task with an added penalty."

turning to her other students. she knew most the males were, how did the Inthara boy put it once...'hot for teacher'? no mind paid to it anyhow. the females were more attentive, and a few she could tell would probably follow in her footsteps as far as male interaction.

"Today's test is to see how well you have mastered your illusions, not your charming. each of you has a pair of names in the envelope on your desk. Your targets each have been given an item that they have been instructed to give only to the second name. your job is to assume the identity of the second party, and convince them you are who you appear to be, without any other magic involved."

Handing a special envelope to the Inthara girl.

"Since I expected you to be fooling around more with your toys then your studies, I took the liberty of making sure you had a particularly difficult one. you fail this test, and I will be having a long conversation with your mother, and your father if need be."

and Lyssie's names? Zykariel and Cerrilia

"Of course I will. I'll even help you finish it up." Petting through his hair then leading him away from his unruly sister. "Faate's home, baby. She's always home." He was too big to pick up even though he was still small for his age. She hated leaving him home sick but she knew her daughter was always ready to help out. Kit seemed to bask in attention he received from the older girls, too. Mindful of her son's state, she chose to take Faete and galloped back home, disembarking and helping her son up the steps. "Why don't you go change into your jammies and I'll be up in a bit to tuck you in, okay? I'll even bring you a picture book from the library to look at." Because she had to go let her daughter know her brother was home.

She ran into Sevilin in the hallway, quite literally and blinked. "Hi." Recovering herself, she gave him a kiss and glanced up. "Kit's not feeling well. I'll let his teachers know...are you staying home?"

Seeing him, her face blossomed into a smile and she chuckled. "Aren't I always?" She still had very little love for horses and other animals but after being around them almost constantly, she'd come to some kind of truce with them. Except Yinn. He still nipped at her heels and tried to herd her on the rare occasions when she was at Twilight. Standing next to Jerick, she calmly waited to be lifted onto the horse.

In response, Lyssie flipped her hair and strolled slowly over to her desk, well aware of most male eyes on her long, bare legs. Bless her parents for being tall. Sliding into the small seat, she crossed them then took the envelope and shook out the contents with a shrug. This b***h wasn't going to ruffle her. Lyssie had ruled this school for years despite the fact she should have graduated and left a few years ago. She covered it by saying she was taking more advanced classes than the rest when the sad truth was, she didn't have the affinity for magic that her family seemed to. The names on the paper made her blink and she nearly grumbled under her breath. Acting like her brother she could pull off any day, she was a very talented actress. It was the looking like him that was difficult.

All around her, her classmates were already beginning to practice and she was seeing changing hair color, skin color and mannerisms. With her luck, she'd be asked to go first.

"I don't taunt...I'm playfully teasing and testing the resolve of others. After all, if they let me bother them and I'm hardly trying what does that say about them?" Shrugging lightly, as logically he thought it was all a very sound thing. Shoving his hands in his pockets and kicking at the floor some, "Alright, I'll stop testing people." He liked to think he helped out in all of this empire business that he regarded much like his mother did, but his father did push him to mind it all the same as well. Dhairiss made another show of his distaste for his parents affections at the moment. "Didn't need to know. I'll be outside then." Thusly trouncing out the doors for him.

Oh look she had won indeed. Another misplaced giggle to things as she nuzzled at her husband again. "That boy, I swear sometimes he's more flighty than doves." Nipping at Malik's ear again, letting her hands play with his clothes a little. "Just once. I promise. Then you can get back to work." Hot and giggly constnatly really was indeed stressful and not all the time did her body appreciate this span of time but she indulged anyway.

He let his mother handle him, holding onto her since she couldn't really pick him up anymore. His father still could but it was fair to say his father could still pick up Zykariel if he wanted to. The bumpy ride home didn't bother him and he was nodding to his mother, heading upstairs to change his clothes.

Downstairs, having told his daughter to take a break from the training room that they now shared, he had looked back to papers in his hand and gave quite the surprise blink as his wife bumped into him. "Hi." Well that was unexpected. "I thought he didn't look so well this morning, but he just said he was fine." A considering look from him, "I was planning on heading back but if I need to stay here I can. Finish up my reports and what not, take them over later when you're home for the evening."

That was one of the things he enjoyed the most, they way she always seemed to brighten when he came around. In truth he did the same. Placing his hands at her waist he helped her up on the horse before mounting up behind her, settling his arms around her waist and taking reins again, though he let Jerick merely walk rather than trot along. They were early anyway. "Are you going to stay for his after party, if knowing him, he wins?"

Breaks... she hated breaks. Breaks meant lost time and lost time meant she wasn't getting any closer to her goal. She was going to be a Master if she had anything to say about it. But, she dutifully put down her books and study materials and left the room to get something from the kitchen. "See, I'm breaking." A wave to her mother along with a frown. "What are you doing here?"

"I didn't even notice. Or if I did I must have figured he wouldn't be bad enough to stay home until tomorrow. But you know how he gets when he's sick." Clingy in the most adorable way and he needed the personal one-on-one attention only a parent could bestow. "If you don't have to head back that would be best. I'd hate to dump on Faate." Giving a nod to her daughter. "Kithaan is sick. He's upstairs now, getting ready for bed."

He'd never laughed at her for her reluctance to touch or be around animals and it was mostly because of him that she'd even come to the point of making a truce with them. But he still made concessions, like now with Jerick at a walk instead of much faster trot or gallop. "It depends on how long the race runs. I've already made dinner so they should be content but there's a match tonight..." He would know what she meant by that. Vesendarians wanted to keep their defenses and ability to combat danger up so they held matches that were a lot like mini tournaments. Her parents drank some sort of high off of it and came home bloodthirsty and ready to spar with anything and anyone that got in their way.

A look over his shoulder to his daughter, his head following her as she walked around the two of them. "If I have to break, you have to break. That's the breaks." Turning his attention back to his wife. "Yeah, I'll stay home with him, she's binging on study anyway."

Kit came down the stairs, indeed dressed down into his bed clothes and came to stand next to his mother, leaning against her. Giving a look to his older sister. "I'll be quiet so you can study."

Which meant she was uneasy as it was for the day. "You could stay at my place tonight. You know, after I make sure Zykariel stumbles home." Which the offer was not a new thing at all. But not trying to dwell on things as such he changed the topic as well, "Speaking of such things tournament is coming up here soon. I'm going to enter again." Which he usually did...save he didn't claim tournament champion because every year he managed to get up that high in the ranks to indeed face his father he would conceed the win to the older tier'dal. Making their leisurly to the same stadium that hosted all sorts of events, this one being of the racing variety as he guided Jerick along.

Zahara crouched down beside her son, gently brushing her fingers through his hair and plopping a kiss on his forehead. "Daddy's going to stay home with you, isn't that neat, Kit?" He'd react much better to his father being with him than if he felt he was being dumped on his sister. "Don't let her overwork herself. I've got to get back to class." Rising once more, she plopped kisses on all three cheeks and headed back out the door to make her afternoon classes.

"It's okay, squirt. I'd have more fun hanging out with you than studying anyway." Reaching out and ruffling his hair. "Why don't I make you some soup. Or did you already eat?" Thus glancing at her father. "I can stay with him for a while if you need to go do something."

"I'll think about it." It was always the same answer and then she'd end up going home anyway. She gave a nod to his topic switch and took a breath. "Is your father entering as well?" Because as long as the elder D'vinn was in it, Malikhai would never take the title. For some reason, unknown even to herself, she wanted him to win.

He smiled at the news, knowing that with a parent home it gave him a little more leeway to cling. His sister could only tolerate clinging for so long and she liked her fingers free so she could do that doddle thing she always did with them. But his sister did get a smile as apparently she wasn't going to be as annoyed this time. Which made him happier because now he had two sources. For the moment however, he latched to his father's side as his mother left again, turning big ruby eyes up to his sister. "I ate, but I'm still hungry." Like any good Inthara man, who seemed to forever be a bottomless pit...granted, Faate was quite the pit herself because of her runing.

Resting a hand on his son's head he smiled lightly as Faate was going to be in a good mood about this. She rarely faked her moods. "You need to start closing up shop anyway if you expect to make your brother's race." Nodding lightly to her. "I just need to finish my reports. You know, something always amiss."

Rarely did she take him up on the offer, but it was important that it at least be out there. "Well you know, he has right to the title every year. I assume he'll be showing up again, one to watch me and then two to defend his title." He didn't feel bad, or any shame in conceeding to his father every year. Tournament was about competition for him not the glory of being called champion, though he knew it upset quite a few people every year that he forfeit. "You'll come watch, won't you? I've heard the competition is really tough this year."

(actually, it was she has to be Cerrilia, and get the thing from Zykariel ;p)

Cerrilia smirked lightly, watching her students already starting to practice and get to things while Lyssie stared at her paper.

"What's the matter, too difficult for you?"

yes she was going to prod that one. While she did go to teh races and occasionally spend some time with Zykariel...bed or not....they both knew that he kept a healthy distance and still didn't trust her further then he could throw her. and the feeling was mutual. she was always prepared for any day to have the older Inthara's or Malik D'vinn to come knocking on her door.

Malik chuckled lightly.

"It's never just once anymore and you know it. and besides, it can wait until you are staed for at least another day, Chev'."

Though yes, he was going to write to Kieran and Fianna and ask about this...it's not something he thought was normal. and things had been disturbingly quiet from Kieran and Fianna lately anyway.

"That's not my fault. And I can control myself." Or at least some days she tried to, but it seemed that the more she tried to resist things the worse everything got. "I promise this time, just once and I'll leave you alone for the rest of the day." Sighing lightly. "We may enjoy it but I don't like cutting into the day's things that need to be done any more than you do." A little shrug, "Who knows maybe this time you'll make the flushed look and inappropriate giggling go away."

"There's nothing on my schedule for the day right now except to wait for reports to come in."

Grins and turns on her, picking her up and carrying her bridal style.

"So we have as much time as you want. and I've been trying to six months...I'm starting to wonder if giving you that solarium hasn't fizzled something in that head of yours."

Chuckling lightly while carrying her upstairs.

"Which Khai turned his in, Sevilin never turns his in until after dinner, and anyone else follows suit." Keeping her arms laced around his neck however as he got to carrying. "You haven't been trying, you've merely been enjoying...well the first three months you were. Admit it, you like it when I stalk you down. If anything it amuses you." Tilting her head innocently at him as they got to their room and she kicked the door closed, getting down out of his hold and pushing him toward the bed, "You blame wonderful gifts, I blame my age. I'm right and you are wrong. Now shut up and enjoy." Thusly shoving him to fall back on the bed with a giggle and quickly enough following him.

Yes, much enjoyment being had. and many times over, before malik was at his desk naked. clothes not his friends at the moment, penning a quick letter about knowing somethign was wrong over there and demanding to know what as well as any reasons why the 'sex craving' andalian female elf thing would last for going on a seven month period. soon as that was sent off, though, back to be with him to be with his wife.

Laying in the bed, she watched him as he was writing. "You're not supposed to make me break my promises of 'just once' A'mael." Picking at him as she was enjoying that sated feeling, where the giggling wasn't frequent and her body didn't feel as hot. "You shouldn't worry so much, I'm sure it will pass. Besides, what harm can come of it save a few sore throats and scratched skin." Kissing him as he came back to bed, followed by a giggle. A little shrug, "If not,, I'm close to asking Zahara to whip something up that will drop everything so this stops."
