Sighing, Hrisskar watched Sotako walk away. He really wanted to see some of the other worlds. Hell, he was at an age where he was supposed to have 'seen it all', only to find that there were ...teenagers, running around in completely different worlds.

'Ah well..', he thought, 'I guess it can't be helped.'

He entered the stairwell, and started to head to his room, passing through corridors. First concrete and stark, for the new parts of the headquarters, to richly furnished oak paneled walls as he passed through the older, original area. Walking past the Commander's office, he noticed Sotako waiting. Giving him a curt nod, he continued towards his room.

Entering his room, he looked around. His eyes rested on his two daggers on the cabinet. As he remembered the names he had given to the daggers... their names... his eyes glazed, and try as he might to keep the memories of that terrible day locked away into his mind, it became too much, and like a broken child, he sat on his bed and fell onto his side, curling up and sobbing.

He was still in that pose as he woke the next morning, the re-lived emotional anguish, however old it might be, still fresh upon his mind.

((Tried to give my posts a bit more depth. Let me know how it is, and any criticism would be welcomed. I hope you are getting curious to Hrisskar's backstory...))

Azora seemed to have been ignored by tech so she decided to ignore him as well, giving him her version of the cold shoulder. She smiled and walked right up to Eva and said good morning into her face, and then she turned to the first mate and said good morning to him too. "What are you guys doing up here so early? And.... is he okay?" she pointed to the first mate who looked like he was about to chuck, eeew, that wouldn't be pleasant.

((
Sorry that I overlooked you, but I still wait for eva to give me the ok for preparing the flight
))
Brian looked at Captain eva for a short time, but since she seemed frozen in some sort of inner monologue, and the gent in front of her looked even more stupid and suspicious then ever, he instinctively noted something.....

The blind girl looked at him...... and, as far as he knew, not in a way he could cathegorize.
Was she angry at him? had he done something wrong?
Brian was more then a little freaked out, but he deccided to act cool. after all, she was just very annoying. Seriously, working in a company that practically had guns for hire as one of their slogans when you were blind, that required cojones.
She then looked away, and Brian fumbled with his multi purpose watch, untill he could clearly see his face in the little mirror. Apart from being a little sweaty, he felt very relieved that there was nothing in his face. He tried to grin with the same relief and energy he was used to, but it seemed not to work.
Suspiciously, he eyed the girl, who now studied something a few centimeters left of the first mates eye, while the poor fella was looking very sick.
He sighed, and fiddled with his wristwatch, to check if any of the improvised electrical traps he had outlayed were giving him a silent alarm. He could see nothing. He closed the LSD-Display with the little camera, and sighed. What was wrong with that girl? did she have something against him?
He sighed, and pondered his choices.
On the one hand, he could take on the mannerisms of his comrades of age, and could result to the old "Girls are stupid, throw rocks at them". He eyed the captain, who was still in some sort of inner monologue.
He deccided to give number two a try, and closed his eyes. Why was this allways so difficult? Why was he able to talk to people of about double his age without problems, but simple smalltalk with a girl his age was so bad. Why didn't they make walkthroughs for girls......
He inhaled deeply, to calm himself down, and put a hand on Azoras shoulder. If she did not like it, she could move or say something.
"I think, " he whispered, " that the captain is trapped in some inner monologue, and somewhere, there are cameras rolling. Or, she has had a mental breakdown, and needs a kickstart. You know how to kickstart a superiour officer?"
He could slam himself in the face. that was so stupid! Not the last bit relevant..... and so completly unfunny it was just plain ugly. What had he been thinking.....
He kept his grin up, just in case she was faking this whole being blind thing, , and deccided to wait for the response like a man. His attention slipped for a minute, and he noticed that he had acted like a pro horsewhisperer. He was somewhat clean, well-groomed and goodsmelling, he had not approached from behind, but rather from the side, his touch was soft, and his voice was soothing, with a hint of sarcasm. he was just rolling......
He got back on track, and focused on the present, with the girl on his side, and the awkward social situation he was in......
He deccided to just wait. What worse could happen then she being mean to him?

Azora twitched, was he touching her? WAS he touching her? Yes.... he was. And he was like, what 15? She was like 18....... but still, ew! And he was talking to her..... wafter he ignored her, why did guy have to be so immature?! Her hands reached for something that she had felt yesterday. It was something mushy on a plate, yes, she had been feeling around yesterday. It stank and the sailors called it slop, like for bait for something. She took it and held it in her hand. She turned to him and smiled. "And what do you think your doing?" and she slammed the mush into his face, it dripped off his chin and onto his cloths. She could here librarian laugh somewhere.

Brian wiped the stuff from his face, and grinned. he hadn't been wrong. she was a b..... arbie. She was just like all the other girls he had seen. nothing personal, nothing even remotely like friendlyness, just pure attitude...
"Well, " he said, whiping off his dripping face with a corner of his bathrobe (he still hadn't changed), " I was trying to make some smalltalk, but I think I see now that my search for companionship, or at least a spirit with an IQ higher then room temperature, has largely been futile. By the way, very mature of you. I could ask myself why you keep such stuff with you all the time, but I guess you will result to violence then.
So my special little girl, Just for your information. I think it is very sweet of you to share your affection with me, but a person more serious could take some very deep offense in that. "
He took a few steps back, just out of her reach, and saluted the captain.
"Captain eva, if you should need me, I am going and man the skiff for immediate preperation of the attack on the navy. I see you are surrounding yourself with the best, so I guess my place is outwards. You can still reach me over the intercomm in your glasses. "
He bowed, and walked over to the entrance to the skiffs, with the Librarian following in close proximity. He sighed, and shot a firey glance at the librarian.
"Simply say nothing. You just like her because she has nice tits and cannot see how ugly you are. "

The Librarian grinned, and signaled Brian that it perhaps was not the best of all ideas to fight in an old green bathrobe..... Was rather painfull to see his guru in the field of computers fail so miserably outside. well, perhaps he could teach the guy sume trick or so. But that girl.... cold as ice.....

"And he thinks I need an attitude adjustment? Tch, right, and he touched me......" Azora looked sort of regretful for doing that, and she knew she seemed as if she had done it with no remorse for a movement there. Everyone who knew her well knew never, ever, EVER to touch her, anywhere..... accept the arms, she was okay with that...... and the librarian she didn't really mind him... or any other animals but seriously she hated it when people touched her, ever. She knew she could just have just told him, but she was afraid that it wouldn't get through to his minuscule patch of information of human beings in that huge head of his. "Excuse me while I go piss off...."

She walked up to the very front of the ship, and she leaned on the rail, feeling the rush of wind against her face. Sure she could wish she didn't do that, and wish she wasn't alive but that wasn't happening. She sighed slumped against that rail. Both her arms and hands were on the rails, on top of each other and she placed her forehead on them. A small bird nestled into her hair and she sighed again. Why couldn't anyone understand...

Brian leaned against the skiff, put his foot on the back of the Librarian, and pulled. The Librarian gave a hearty "UGH!", but grinned afterwards, and patted Brian against the knee. Then, the Librarian walked off to the other side of the deck where he had dismanteled his gun to a heap of barrels, which he began scrubbing furiously.
Brian checked if noone peeked in an easily spottable way, then opened his duffle bag and undressed to his black boxers. He believed in the flow of the chi, so in the first waves of sun that came into the flightdeck, next to the now extremly pimped up skiff. He grinned, and waited for the flow of thoughts to stop, while his muscles went through the traditional movements of the Tai-chi.
Left foot in front, right hand in the eight position, accepting the blow....
His thoughts wandered. Wandered in his own private area of his brain, where no one could penetrate his inner silence. They gyrated around this little black bulb, that was his un dderstanding of things.
Circle kick with the left foot, Halfstand, drop down to a 180 °, resume horse-stance.....
He had left the tai-chi, and begun his kata of the thousand waves.
The Thousand waves were one of the many katas the old guy had told him, on the few rare occasions after his parents death where he had been able to meet with him. He saw himself in the szechuan mountain, with his sifu.
"A warrior once was sent to a foreign country, to protect a friend of a mighty lord, who was a merchant and trader. Because of the money and the status of the Merchant, he payed more for concubines and beautiful servants then men of arms.
When the merchant did business with the locals, he fell further in his delusioons of grandeur, and begann aborting the path of the righteous, up to a point where he was hitting his concubines. The warrior just stood there and said nothing.
Then, the merchant fired all his soldiers, because he was overwhelmed with grandeur. He thought noone could harm him. He even tried to fire the warrior, who was no longer in his company, but still had to guard him. So, the warrior followed the merchant and his few remaining soldiers, living of the few roots and berries he could steal from nature.
So, one evening, as the warrior had been nearly asleep, he heard screams of laughter. He run up, and found that the merchant, in his delusion of grandeur, had seriously offended a local Warlord, who began slaughtering the travel group of the merchant.
Without a second thought, the warrior went into battle with the savages. Ten days and ten nights, they fought, untill he chopped of the head of the last warrior, and finally realised that he had killed thousand men. Seeing that the merchant was barely alive, the warrior, who had suffered greatly, carried the man back into the land of his lord, to get for him a proper treatment. ten more days, our warrior ran, without once hesitating for food or sleep for himself, while the merchant on his back dreamed.
Then, as he had reached his land, he was only able to get the merchant to the steps of his lords house, where he broke down.
As he regained consiousness, he was carried to the balcony, where his lord dined with the merchant.
The merchant was furious, and shook the warrior, because he had left his good up in the mountains, and began to hit the warrior with the hilt of the Lords sword. The warrior never spoke a word.
Then, due to hot weather, the hilt fell out of the merchants hands, and without a word, the warrior jumped after it, polished it off, and presented it to the merchant.
By this display of loyality values and courage, the Lord was so pleased that he stopped the merchant, and quit his bonds of friendship with the merchant. "
Brian finished the last of the painfully slow movements of his Kata, and stopped ofr a minute before he happily smiled. It had all found his place. The nebula of thoughts, actions, considerations and calculations had finally diminuished into a tiny little marble, which he completly understood.

ten minutes later, he had finished changing. He had started with a set of wollen underwear, with integrated heating pads. Above that, an isolated overall with severall handy pockets, and various integrated electric gadgets, including a massage function.
He grinned, as he looked down on the black overall, that was about two sizes too big for him, and looked at the watch, that was integrated in the wrist area. Come on, they couldn't......
He had to chuckle as the suit started to change its overall consistency, untill it fitted him like a glove.
"I may not ruin away, I may not run away......."
He simply could not resist it, and felt a bit better afterwards. He found out that the suit had a builtin temperature regulator, and that it was extremly durable, and felt very new. He went for the safe bet, and added on top of that a multi purpose west, which had a backpocked in which he stored his laptop, and a place to hook the two little compressed airtanks up to. in case of a real emergency, they would give him air for an hour, but then, he should have been finished with the job anyway.
He grinned, as he unpacked his mobile workstation, and started to finetune the system.
Half an hour later, he had finally rigged up a big battery pack to the suit, and had worked out an emergency way to jack it into the skiff, and the remaining skiff. he was extremly pleased as he worked out that he could record the several functions of each item in the cockpit of the skiff, in case he needed it most. It was a huge bonus to work with both hands free, and still be able to see things on the HUD inside his helmet. He grinned, and put on boots and his utility batbelt, and then carefully stood up. OK, maybe it was a bad idea to work out so much with doritoes, and so little with weights, but he would have to sit 90 perfent of the time anyway, so he could use some additional training. He put on the helmet, switched the overhead display to 10 % visability, and checked for the harpuna in his bracelett. 500 meters of nylon rope. Thank goodness it was not on his mousehand. he grinned, and sat down next to the librarian, whose only preperation for the upcoming battle consisted of drinking large ammounts of mountain dew, watching very adult material in his laptop, and eating cheetoes. The librarian gave him one long look, up and down his suit, wiggled his hand, and grinned bridely, as he offered him a mountain dew, and patted next to where he sat. Brian sat down, and accepted gladly.
"You know, " he said, and put his head on the side in a pointless effort to work out in his head why the male and the female rooted around like that and did not break any bones, " I think it really is easier with just guys. I mean, you know me, I did not want to harass her. I just wanted to make samlltalk. "
He sighed.
"By the way, dude, wanna earn 200 bucks?"

The librarian listened with half an ear. what Brian described was not only very immoral, but also very fun. But it was stuff that a monkey would do Throwing stuff was not that hard. It was just a matter of a good hand and a good eye. He grinned, and took the money. It would have been a crime not to have accepted.

"Courage, courage courage...." Azora said to herself, and she rocked back and forth in the corner of the galley. There was no one there except her.... and the bird from before. She jiggled her leg, somehow finding amusement in that and did it some more. She sighed and went to make some coffee.

The black liquid swished around in the cup and she drained half of it in one go, cringing at the taste. "Bleh...." She sighed, her guilt was catching up with her and she sighed. "Time to go apologize..... no too soon not enough courage....." she sighed again and went to rocking back and forth in the corner of the room.
