Unfortunately for Iden... Roan had been of the same mind. She barely even registered anyone else COULD be in the place before she stomped in, sullen and smoking, and headed straight behind the bar for Halo's personal sake stash. It was that kind of night*

Ho s**t...

Just from the way she took to the bar made him very much instinctively back away with his prize and seat himself as FAR from her as he could without actually leaving the building. So much for a quiet drink.

It wasn't until he was halfway through the drink that he mustered up the will to say anything at all.

Bad night?

After he asked, his focus returned to his bottle, as if he wasn't really expecting or wanting an answer.

Just the usual. Work, bloody work, and not enough time off. You?

*She turned slowly, a bottle of sake to her lips. Stood there, one hand on her hip, dressed in effectively bikers leathers and looking human, she could effectively have driven many men to follow her on looks alone. The air of danger that surrounded her was mild enough to alluring, her true nature hidden save for the leering serpents on her neck*

Getting the time off. Rather be here than the Turtle...seems every time I head to my own damn bar someone has to try and blow it up, with me still inside. But such is life.

To contrast Roan, he seemed perfectly laid back, now that he was in a reasonably comfortable chair with his drink of choice. Like a smiling youth, enjoying the weekend off from school. He was in jeans and a tshirt, with his new (yet already shot to pieces) duster draped over his figure.

He shrugged, then tipped his bottle.

Cheers, then.

Such is the nature of the world I dragged you into. Peace is something we know little of. But, you know all about that. You WERE a mercenary before I claimed you, right?

*She grinned lightly and stretched, sipping more of her drink as she wandered over to join Iden. Sitting down, she fixed him with a rather intense stare*

And now, lets have a small recap shall we? Last time I checked, you still hated my guts for doing what I did to you, and then more still for the whole Kuni busines.s We still in the same boat?
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 3:00 pm

As if the recent stint in the TR didn't prove that, YES, I was and still am a mercenary. I gotta keep the bar afloat somehow.

He shrugged. He had been a merc. Perhaps the laziest, most good natured one out there, but he had done what he was paid to do. And more often than not, done it well. It slightly irritated her to question that, and moreso to fix the gaze of doom on him. The distinct sensation of something crawling up his spine reemerged, just as always.

Small recap? Oh, you mean the most traumatic few months of my life, bar none? The grudge that took the place of even the deepest seated hate I've ever felt? It'll take a ******** more than just this short time for that to go away, if ever. All debts WILL be repayed...in time. There's no hurry, now is there? Besides. I owe you for both good AND bad.

It was an interesting roller coaster of verbalized emotion he went through. At first, it almost sounded like he was hurt. Then angry to the point of violence...from there to content, to introspective. Even for him, such shifts were odd, or they would have been before the events in question.

*The woman nodded, and grinned as he replied*

Iden, Im 560 something this year. And I STILL hate the man who killed me, enough to try and kill him every time I see him. Im not EXPECTING ti to just go away, especially this early on. What I AM expecting is what you just gave me...

Nothing will take away what I did to you. Nothing I can do can ever repay you for the trauma. Or fo ryour losses. You SAY the good an dth bad, but the good is merely the slightest step on a long ladder of 'sorry' I will always feel I need to climb with each of you.

I didnt mean to question that you WERE a mercenary, or that you still ar.e I merely meant that you understand the nature of conflict. As a mercenary, it was for money. As a DeSeer... it is simply life. It is what we do, what we ARE. Im done hurting you. But Im nowhere done teaching you and guiding you.
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 3:31 pm

Sorry? You're bloody SORRY? Yeah. Well don't be. As I said, all debts will be paid in turn. You killed me, I'll kill you. Simple, no? It'll take ages, no doubt. And I probably sound like the cockiest ******** out there for putting it so bluntly and so confidently. But ya know what? You can make it ALL up to me by making the fight one to remember when it comes. And by not letting yourself get dragged under, like you did oh so recently. God...if you die on me, I will FIND a way to drag you back. I don't give a damn WHAT it takes. I pay up when the time comes, always.

From the sound of it, he'd had that rant pent up for some time now. As soon as it was out there, on the table, he leaned back in his seat, the casual, carefree manner slowly sliding back into place as he took another swig of his drink.

Now that THAT is out of the way...any new nuggets of wisdom to guide by?

...

*she stared at Iden. Only teh slight flickering of her eyes and tail indicated the tougt going on behind the suddenly closed off face, then she sighed, and abruptly pushed the chair back from the table*

You're young, and you understand little. What you ask and what you desire... two different things and neither as easily accomplished as one would hope. You are stubborn and grounded in what you were in life. These are benefits to you.
Though I owe each of you a huge debt of sorry... I do NOT regret a single action taken with any of you. Not one moment. Condemn me all you will, demand that I give you your repatriation... but know that hollow gestures leave only a hollow feeling in the little guiding light any of us has left.

*she let the bottle she had held drop to the floor and shatter*

Everything whole can be broken. We who are damned... for us, life is dirt cheap. Meaning though? That will ost you your very soul. Enjoy your drink Iden.

*Her footsteos were ctontrolled, measures, as was her body language and stride as she left the building. But it didnt take away form the bitter taste in her mouth*
PostPosted: Tue Oct 16, 2007 3:53 pm

Easy? Nothing's ever easy. But nothing's ever impossible...and I've got all the time in the world...

His short lived frown didn't last, and he shrugged. Yes, he had heard and started to contemplate what she had said. But hell...he was sitting in a bar, having a drink. Now was not the time for such serious conversation. He almost regretted his words to Roan..they had slipped out much without him wanting to say ANY of it. But too late, he'd said it. So he breathed a deep sigh, and tipped his bottle to her withdrawing figure.

Aye, I'll enjoy it. Cheers, mate. Try not to let the world drag you down too much. Least you're lucky to have wings to fly on.

The tone made it sound like he was talking in a very much literal sense, but the words themselves came out as if he had fully intended alternate meaning. Who could say? It might even just be the alcohol talking, what little of it he'd already had. So he idly sat back and drained the bottle, before letting it fall to shatter beside Roan's own.

Heh...cheers.

Her bright sapphire eyes narrowed faintly as she glanced around the bar before slowly moving towards the counter. Her footfalls echoed quite loudly, despite her small size, due to how empty it was in the building. Her tail swayed slowly almost nervously behind her as her ears twitched slightly then laid back against her head. It seemed to be pretty dead and empty in there... but it didn't always mean such. Sighing quietly, she slipped behind the bar and started to hunt for something without liquor.

While she looked, she idly toyed with the violet strings that tied up the velvet corset around her slender, but curvy frame. Knealing down, she opened up a small mini fridge and rumaged around in it until she found a coke can. Standing up, she used her free hand to sling her black and purple (Purple highlights) hair over her shoulder. Still having not seen nor heard anyone and rather liking it, she leaned up on the counter top and started to open the can.

*An almighty crash rumbled across the earth outside the tavern. Dirt erupted from the grounds leaving a circular crater with Sophus knelt in the midst of it.
Arising from his knelt stance he looked up at the darkened sky at the barely visible flapping of his dragons wings and thought to himself.*

I shant be long...

* As he marched closer towards the taverns doors wild images flashed before him. Mixed memories rushed through his mind, accompanied by a lightening cracking sound.
A surge of pain blew up inside his skull causing him to stagger into the tavern, holding his cranium in his gauntlet covered hands he screamed wildly, knocking over a stool as he did so.*

Upon hearing the crashing noise, she jerked up straighter as her ears pinned down against her head. Her tail grew stiff as she looked towards the doors, but before she could decide one what to do or that, the man had started into the room. Watching him as he started to stagger around the room, she would of thought he was drunk had it not been for the screaming. Slowly moving from around the counter, she moved towards him in a cautious manner. After all, she didn't know who he was or what was wrong or he'd try to attack her in confusion. "A-are y-you o-okay," she stuttered out in a soft voice, coming up behind him and reaching out to touch his shoulder. Her tail was nervously twitching behind her once again, but her ears stayed back against her head in a rather nervous or even scared manner.

*When her hand had made contact with him the 'electrical' pain nullified out of his body and the flickering images slowly diminished.
Trying to grasp a sturdy grip now Sophus replied to the voice, his now sensitive eyelids clammed shut from the harsh lighting.

Ack.....huh.....O.J.....

*an image of sophus from a few years ago drining in this very tavern with jammer flashed before him*

no.. no.. forget that. Something strong. to ease the pain.

*Suddenly his weight gave way as he blindly tripped over her tail and plummeted to the floor *

Nodding to his request, she dropped her hand from him and turned away just as he managed to trip over her. Flushing red in embarrassment for having caused the accident, she kneeled down at his side and offered a hand to help him back onto his feet while murmuring a faint apology to him. "How about we get you on a couch first," she murmured faintly, mostly to herself then to him as she waited for him to take her hand. She could only hope he'd take her hand, being as small as she was, she knew she couldn't lift or barely drag the man to a couch.
