They make short distance jumps, limiting warp exposure of crew and troops/colonists. Their Empire is quite compact, so they can get away with that...

Not quite. Tau don't have the Navigator gene so they actually can't enter the Warp. Instead, what they do is force themselves into the Warp-Realspace divide, and then pop back out.

Balltfleet Gothic Fleetbook
Achieving transition to the Warp required more than technology, it required psychically attuned minds and the Tau race boasted no psykers. Without them to guide the transition no amount of power could breach the dimensional barriers. The best the Tau could do was make a partial transition, forcing themselves into the void that separated Warpspace and real space before they were hurled out again like a ball held under water then released. . . . The speeds achieved in the ascent back to real space were staggering and this coupled with the effect of the Warp on time and space ensured that the real distance covered by the dive was immense.

I think it would be really sweet to see some chaotical Tau. I know Ive said that before.

I still don't truly understand the space travel, but I get the idea. They have no psychic powers, so they are almost completely un-affected by warp travel.

As for the chaotic tau remark, I think they would die out as soon as they came in. Dark Eldar died out recently because no one played them. I think that varients of a race that share too many qualities, such as the eldar, will not make it, but the chaos space marines are very different from the normal space marines, with their demonic powers, their summoned demons, and all around evil nature. The eldar were simply an evil version of the eldar, but boasted no large differences. That is atleast the way that I see it. rolleyes

That is how the chaotic tau would be and they wouldn't last. sweatdrop

Well, I meant story/fluff-wise. I know that Chaotic Tau would raise too many eyebrows rather than pocketbooks. I would like to see some sept world legions though, as in differences like they do in Space Marine Chapters. Most of all I would like to see some separate models and technology for a Farsight Enclave.

Farsight Enclave is closest thing to Chaos Tau ever made, with their close-combat expertise and commander wielding mysterious Dawn Blade (Demon Weapon?).

Thing is there are no models besides Farsight himself that reflect his teachings and the aspects of his rogue faction.
I believe the Dawn Blade was described as a possible Necron artifact.

I think releasing "Chaos Tau" would be about as fruitful as releasing something like "Feral Ork" miniatures or something. There's hardly a big enough fanbase for it, and in the case of "Chaos Tau", there's not enough fluff behind it to warrant a Dustbuster.

Yeah, come to think of it, evil tau would look harmless, not to mention they would look stupid if they were mutated.

i just think everyone wants a dark side to Tau, like every other army falls to the warp and turns to chaos and so on.

But if u ask me i think they already have that touch. Especially with the etherials being a little mysterious.
But being brutally evil isnt Tau, and if they do go renegade the castes would split up and etherals wont leads the Tau castes . then the civil war between Tau will start again and those renegades will die coz there wont even be enough as most Tau have a strong fath to "the greater good"

That would be neat if they had a Farsight enclave model type. O_o

Hell yes it would, I would really like models and tactics to reflect his teachings!

Thing is he'd probably get killed off by the time of the next codex unless they make some interesting story to add to his current status...
Unless if they keep him alive with his blade artifact or he dies but another (or a few) take his place?
otherwise if he dies the enclave would probably be less of a threat or have any real value to have more models suit just his army...
