Tim's eyebrows raised hearing the man's voice, though it sounded off and the coughing proved he may not have been speaking for a while. Tim knew that feeling. He looked around, adjusting his glasses before seating himself on a chair. "No, you're not pathetic, Daren. You're not a coward either. It's more avoidance than cowardice." Tim glanced around. "And I'm not completely healthy. I take three sorts of vitamins. Malnutrition from Andrew that hasn't come back yet. and the therapist has me on anti-depressants, anti-anxiety pills, a pill to give me energy in the morning and one to prevent mood swings." he gave a soft chuckle. "I think that last one was just because I kept on flopping over or trying to throw her couch." He looked at his shoes. "I tried calling your work the first week after therapy, they said you'd transferred somewhere else and they didn't know where. I'm sorry I couldn't come visit."

Daren nodded, "they help. iw as on them for a while...but eventually you won't need them anymore." hearing that Tim had tried to call him hurt. "sorry, i promised to send you my new address but they frown on outside contact here," he tried to tease, "not that i knew an address to give you either. so, why did the great Caesar bring you hear? trying to convince me to move back in with you?" he turned his head slightly so he could look at Tim, "how is Andy treating you?"

Tim wasn't sure whether no longer needing the medication was a good or bad thing. He might fall apart without it, and that frightened him. "If Caesar kidnapped you... yea, you wouldn't know what to give." He glanced up, giving a small smile, about to look back down but slowly his face turned into one of confusion. "I didn't tell you I was moving in with Andy."

Daren lifted an eyebrow, how much did Tim know? "caesar told me," he said simply, shrugging. "guess he thought i'd think Andy unable to protect you and jump to come back or something." Caesar was furious. he hadn't been this angry in a long time and several of his men now were unconscious on the floor of his office. his knuckles were also slightly bruised, but it had been worth it. he'd never given the order for Daren to be harmed, and now he owed the cop a debt for his treatment. he walked into Daren's room and glanced at Tim before moving to the bed and gabbing Daren's shoulder. he turned the man into the light so he could see his face and swore softly, "i didn't order this." he said, letting go and stepping back, "i order you to be left alone." he shook his head, "they will pay for this!"

Tim thought a moment. He didn't recall Andy buying any new suits either. Maybe he'd just gone by to visit, Andy did own more suits than Tim and Caesar was pretty friendly with everyone. Unless he worked for Caesar. The red-head held this thought for a moment, adding in Daren's words with them. "I dunno he's pretty tiny and he's pretty narrow. I don't think he'd be able to protect me as so much as be a mild roadblock for anyone trying to get in my way." Did he work for Caesar? It seemed a bit far fetched. He'd have to ask when he saw him again, Andy. But the business man walked in, Tim looking curious and somewhat concerned but stayed silent, tilting his body to see what was going on, the light showing what Tim couldn't see. "D-Did someone hit you?!"

Daren jerked away from Caesar and glanced at Tim, but the cat was out of the bag now. he adjusted himself, sitting up with his back to the wall, "it's not a big deal, and for the record, i hit them back just as hard." he shrugged, ignoring the pain it caused in his ribs. "it's not like i was some hapless victim..." his eyes fell on Tim's face and he smiled a little, "don't. don't feel bad, don't give me that look. i deserve this, we both know i do." Caesar shook his head, "all the same-" he did Daren a once over before heading to the door, "i shall get my personal doctor to look you over. i'd say stay here but-" he grinned a little and shut the door behind him. Daren grimaced, "i didn't want to make a big deal out of this."

Tim stood there, looking at the man, more worried now than before. Hearing that Daren thought he deserved this his look broke down even more. Daren didn't deserve any of this. The abuse, the harassment, none of it. He moved forward after the mafia lord left, gently reaching out and touching the wound on his face. "Then we won't. I'm just... this is awful. I'm sorry they did this to you. Had I known... but you're okay, right? Um, food. You should probably eat. You can't heal if you don't have proper nutrients in your body."

Daren held still at Tim touched him, letting his friend look him over. "Yeah, i'm ok. they haven't done anything more than beat on me a little." he carefully placed his hand over Tim's, "they haven't raped me, or even hinted at going in that direction, so you don't have to worry, ok?" he was sure that Tim would think of it eventually and he didn't want him to. "not really hungry, all i've been doing is sitting here all day. doesn't really use up much energy, so don't need to eat as much." he sighed and moved his hand from Tim's to run his face, "i'm getting sick of this, though. any chance you can convince him to let me go?" he gave Tim a half smile, "though, i doubt that would work. he's stubborn, won't take anything but my agreeing to stay..." he looked into Tim's eyes, "but you are happy, right? i mean, you've been ok without me and you look like you are doing a lot better, so i was right. you don't need me in your life, you can do just fine, even if i am not here."

"That's good. Beatings are managable." before he could ask, Daren quickly killed the thoughts of him having been violated sexually, relief flooding Timothy. "Thank god." He looked at the food on the nightstand, shaking his head. "Daren you've gotten thinner. you had muscles." and gently felt his shoulders. "You can't exercise and not eat. You'll become skinny like me." Could he get Daren out? "No, I don't think I can. They told me the same thing, have you agree to stay and they'll let you out. But, you wanted to leave right? I'm not really one to stop people from doing what they want, so long as it makes you happy. but, the news is completely gone. There's no hide or hair of you on television. So, you know, no one will hate you." But was Tim happy? "Andy's been really helpful, and he's a great roommate to have. We've been debating getting a pet bird for the apartment, and I discussed it with Jason and he was quick to warn me on diseases birds have. And he's been loving and we've gone out on dates, and he's a cuddler. Work's been great as well, well, normal I guess, but certainly not bad." But was he happy? "I just, I really miss you, Daren. It's lonely without you around."

Daren had been looking down at his bed until Tim said he had been lonely. slowly his eyes rose and he looked into Tim's, seeing the truth there. he smiled, a tiny smile, but nodded a little, "yeah, lonely, i get that." he sighed and let his head fall back against the wall, "if i agree, that doesn't mean you have to move back in with me. we can hang out or whatever, but if you are doing ok at Andy's you shouldn't uproot yourself, you know?" he glanced around the room and looked down at the kitten that had crawled into his lap, as if physical contact was going to keep him from disappearing again. "i guess i might as well agree, i need to get out of here or i'll go crazy. and i can take a desk job, keep my head low, that sort of thing. what do you think, Tim? should i let my stubborn pride go for once, is a few weeks enough or should i go for months?" he was teasing, wanting to make Tim smile again

Tim perked hearing that Daren might agree, nodding quickly and smiling. "Y-You should come now! A few weeks is enough! Please come back, Daren." He wanted to hug the man tightly and beg him to stay, but held himself back. "Do you mean it? Are you going to come back? I promise I won't move in with you if you don't want it."

Daren sighed and rubbed the back of his head, "fine, we've a deal." he glanced to the door, "you can come in now, you got what you wanted. move in with me or not, i'll stay." Caesar came in, smiling widely, a man with a doctor's bag following after. "i'm glad to hear you've seen reason." Daren rolled his eye, "not seeing reason, just sick of seeing the same four walls." the doctor came up to Daren, "shirt off, boyo." Daren hesitated, looking at Tim, before moving to the edge of the bed and taking off his shirt, revealing that his torso was a canvas of yellows and blues and dark purples of healing bruises. he winced at lifting his shirt up over his head, but after that he settled back and let the doctor poke and prod at him.

He couldn't help but beam, smiling brightly at Daren and about to take that wanted hug until he invited the outsiders in. The red-head did crawl onto the bed and sit beside his friend, watching the doctor carefully, understanding what he was searching for after being in the hospital so many times. The skin was truly grotesque, Tim's own fingers lightly touching a few bruises on Daren's side before resting his forehead on the man's shoulder apologetically. He really wished he could have prevented this.

Daren glanced over when Tim rested his head on his shoulder, but he didn't say anything. he let the doctor touch and feel, wincing here and there, and watching as Caesar steadily got more and more angry. "Right," the Doctor sat back, "you've three dislocated ribs and two broken, the rest is bruises i can't do much about. we have to set the ribs, though, and it's going to hurt." Daren lifted an eyebrow, "i promise not to scream." the doctor nodded, "then lay on the bed and relax, i'll do it right now." Daren nodded and gently pulled away from Tim, laying down to let the doctor do his work. it hurt, it hurt like hell and he could feel the blood drain from his face as one by one, his ribs were forced back into place. he kept his word, not a single sound leaving his lips. finally, it was over, and he took deep, calming breaths to keep from passing out while the world around him swirled with pain. "you weren't lying," he muttered, closing his eyes to make everything stop spinning. The doctor smiled, "nor were you, i'm impressed. you did well."

"Th-That's a lot!" Tim exclaimed, moving as Daren and the doctor both agreed to fix them. The noises were enough to make the man cringe, not bothering to watch but sitting on the bed still. His head was simply turned the other way. "D-Does he need pain medication? Are you feeling any side effects? Daren how are you feeling does anything hurt?"
