Thus far, only thing known is that marines and orks will be in it. Other than that, NOTHING is known.

Well I think we can assume there were at least be Eldar and Chaos in it, without them we have a broken game.

I'd hope that they have all the races they have in the expansions, plus one or two.

Ooh, implementing nine races into the core game? Ten if you want the bugs in as well. That is going to set the release apart by at least two years.
No, it is not a simply matter of copy-pasting the current data into a new engine.

No, it is not a simply matter of copy-pasting the current data into a new engine. Well aware, but I'd feel horribly gipped if I had to buy -another- three expansions to get all the races again.

I could live with the 7 before Soulstorm.

If the game is using the Company of Heroes engine then I'm mightily pleased with just Orks versus Marines. The classic line up for fights in GW fluffdom. Sure Chaos and Eldar are also "core" races, but that argument has more or less faded away.
I just hope that the new engine supports something I've only seen with the Imperial Guard and Sisters of Battle, that troops don't all look alike and are individuals. Not unlike the cloned orks, marines and eldar.

Maybe they'll fix the aircraft mechanics while they're at it.

I'd rather have them remove the aircraft altogether. or make them off-map assets as with CoH, where you designate a target, set the approach line and watch the plane roar over, strafing the bastards. A Marauder Destroyer is pretty much like a P47 Thunderbolt, so it would work perfectly.

Thats what I hope for. But if the game is just going to be Orks and Space Marines then it definately has to be way immersive and damn good if it were to sell well.

I think that once again one of the main selling points will be the eye candy. When DoW was released it was all eye candy. It looked (still does!) good, it was 40k brought to life and that was one of the main selling points.
It also had a good campaign that wasn't that far fetched and the armies were pretty well represented and balanced.

The point that he's making is that we'd rather play a good game than one that just has a bunch of races in it. Personally, I don't care what races are in it so long as they make it a good game, and for the love of god, bring back campaigns, none of this bullshit that they've done with Dark Crusade and Soulstorm.

What! The campaign is better than that linear s**t! They do need to improve on mechanic though.

Maybe a middle ground? I prefer the linear approach as it really brings out the story. The campaign on the other hand feels more like a massive skirmish session than actual single player, as only the boss maps provide story progression. However, the campaign gives a feeling of choice.
