"Dil!" Miyuki made a beeline for him.
She pretty much threw herself at him, which made it look like she was going to tackle Earendil to the ground.
"Miyuki!" Lin didn't think someone who could only crawl less than a week ago could suddenly run like that.

Earendil was surprised by how forcefully Miyuki launched herself at him, and he squawked and fell backwards, catching her in his arms. "Whaaa!"
He hit the floor with a thunk and chuckled. "Wow. That was ... powerful." He rolled over and got to his feet, holding Miyuki in his arms. "You know," he grinned at her, "if you want to go outside, you have to let your mommy dress you up."

Miyuki looked at him, before looking at her mother and pouting upon seeing the cloak.
Lin sighed as she went over and fasten the article of clothing onto the little girl, "I don't know why you don't like it, it's looser than pants."
Which Lin knew Miyuki still didn't like.

"Maybe you should try a jacket, or a coat, or whatever it is that Shiro had with on the trip," Earendil suggested, holding Miyuki still for Lin. "I know it's more constrictive, but maybe she'll like it better ... or if not, maybe she'll at least realize that a cloak isn't so bad."
Once Miyuki was ready, he set her down again and opened the door for her. Outside, the snow had already been shoveled away from the door (by Fletcher during the morning), but away from the door the snow was as deep as Miyuki was tall. Good news: she couldn't run away.

She hurried out, only to be met by snow, snow and more snow. It was strange being surrounded by the stuff.
"Eh? No?" Miyuki poked at the wall of snow beside her leaving a small indent.
She had never seen it that deep before, but then again up until that winter she had never seen snow before.
"Huh..." Lin looked at the cross section to look for ice under all that snow, but the snow hadn't been sitting there long enough she supposed for ice to form.

Earendil stared at the snow, and stared some more, and finally closed the door behind them. That ... was a lot of snow.
"Haldia would love to see this," he chuckled, reaching down and picking up a handful of the white stuff. It was cold, but it seemed to stick together very well.

Lin also picked up some snow and began packing it into a ball, "Perfect packing snow.... Miyuki don't eat it."
She looked down to see her daughter had shoved (more or less) her face into a part of the snow wall trying to eat the snow.
While she didn't doubt that the snow was much, much cleaner than Gaia's snow, she still didn't want Miyuki to be eating it.

Earendil chuckled. "Didn't Amalirahc say something about it being ice cream yesterday?" he winked at Lin, setting out into the snow.
When he walked, he stayed on top of the snow, barely sinking enough to leave a footprint.
Kids were so cute, he thought. Amalirahc and thinking that snow was ice cream ... Miyuki trying to eat it ...

Lin stared at Earendil, for someone who had never been in a snowy climate, he certainly walked like he had been before. Of course, Lin was use to the fact that elves could walk on snow, the only one she had ever met who couldn't (as far as she knew) was Arthael.
It wasn't fair.
"He did say something about it being ice cream," Lin admitted as she pulled Miyuki away from the snow, "Though admittedly there are places that use snow and pour sweet syrup on it and eat it."

"Now that doesn't sound pleasant," Earendil frowned, looking down at Lin.
He paused. He had to look ... very far down at her now. He blinked and looked further down to see her standing in snow that came up past her knees. "What ..."
He looked down at his own feet and saw that he was on top of the snow. "Is this normal?" he asked, bewildered.

Lin was about to mention how the idea of maple syrup and snow sounded good to her when she noticed the look on his face. Apparently Earendil had not been expecting this.
She laughed.
"You're an elf, this is perfectly normal. Most are able to do that."

Earendil shook his head, amazed. "Wow. That's about all I can say."
He stomped down into the snow with both feet to see what it was like, and very quickly he decided that he liked being able to walk on the top of it.
"So," he grinned at Lin. "Going to show me a fort?"

Lin couldn't help but wonder if Earendil also knew that elves weighed a lot less than they should in reality. There was no way at their height they would way about the same if not less than an average sized human.
She chuckled, "The easiest way would be to make a snowball and roll it until it becomes large and then have several of those side by side and just fill in the cracks."

Earendil nodded and smiled. "Shall we, then?" he grinned. "Or do you want to just look around a bit? It's the first time I've been on a mountain other than the one I grew up on."
He looked around a bit. It looked kind of interesting up here: there was a large (as in taller than him) boulder near the edge of the plateau that was covered with snow, and the plateau itself was quite large. Perhaps the size of the courtyard back home. The plateau itself was clear of trees and such, but the entire mountainside, right up to the clearing and again up past it, was covered with large trees.

Lin giggled as she looked down at Miyuki, "Unless you want to carry Miyuki, it would best if we stayed here. So maybe make a snow fort instead?"
Unless he really wanted to carry her, which Lin could see that really.
