"What? Oh yeah, sure." Mike had kinda spaced out waiting for Flannery to get ready, and her kiss made him jump a bit. Not that she had taken a super long time, it was just normal for him to have his head in he clouds, thinkin' about whatever. "I'm ready." he said, pushing himself off the wall with his shoulders. He didn't bother having Napalm checked in. He only had a few scratches; nothing a good rest in the ball wouldn't fix.
The Pokemon Center crowd died down a bit, but there still was a bit of 'excuse me's' to be said as they made their way out the door. There was never a time in Mike's life when he saw one completely empty, so it wasn't a big deal. Right as he walked through the doors, he saw Kilik mosey on over, paying half attention. He doesn't take a break does he? Mike thought, figuring his reason for heading to the center was to heal. Wordlessly the boy held up a fist, smiling when Kilik returned the pound.
Mike and Flannery walked past a large group of people, the boy only noticing M.A. when he passed the kid with the stupid Charizard wings. "Man, and I thought I loved Fire Pokemon." he said to Flannery with a bit of a laugh. "Hi M.A." he called out, waving when she looked over to him.
------
"Oh, so it's alright to throw me down to the pavement, but when someone gets you out of the line of fire, it's okay to just walk off without thanks?" Sasha asked as Keegan practically tore her arm off trying to get away. "Secousse." she rubbed her wrist. What Kasiya saw in that sourpuss was beyond her. I mean, he wasn't ugly, but sheesh. He wasn't going to win any awards for his personality. The pink haired girl looked around, suddenly feeling very alone. Kirsa hadn't called her back, and she wasn't about to go bother Kasiya, the only other person she knew, who was talking to Prince Charming over there.
Sasha crossed her arms, not impressed with his lack of manners at all. While looking around for more enjoyable company, she spied a familiar face in the crowd. It was that girl from earlier, M.A. was it? She was with a nice big crowd of people too, oddly enough including Kilik's Elekid. No Kilik in sight, though. When she thought about it, she probably wouldn't want to see him anyway, at least not for a little while. He looked pretty miffed after losing that battle.
It wasn't until Sasha had already skipped over to the group that she noticed the boy with the giant wings sticking out of his back. Her hand immediately slapped her mouth shut to keep herself from laughing right to his face, the pressure almost made her head explode. She quickly about faced to avoid anyone seeing her expression, that wouldn't make for a very good first meeting. Remembering her etiquette training back home, Sasha took a deep breath, letting it slowly exit out through her nose. She was told that was the most conspicuous and reserved way to calm yourself. Now, while that last statement isn't what you'd normally expect from Sasha, she had her moments of class when the time called for it.
Alright, let's try this again. she thought as she turned around, hoping no one had noticed her before. "Hey there M.A."

By nature, Saebum was often stubbornly rebellious, and so he didn't exactly appreciate being told to "chill out," even if it might have been warranted from his excessive irritation; he knew he got over-protective of his only baby sister sometimes, but that was an established constituent of his being. Seriously though, what the hell were up with these people? Here was an instigator (whose taunt Sae found rather questionable and lacking maturity), and here was a punk who was... Saebum couldn't find a word to describe the winged fellow. "Over-the-top" might work. If Crenu's taunt recalled the playground, this kid recalled the nursery. Or his mum's womb.
All Sae could was raise a brow and seriously doubt the nature of the people M.A. seemed to surround herself with. That Mitsu and Robin chick from the dinner last night were fine, probably -- well, they were girls, and so that may have influenced Sae's reasoning -- but all these GUYS were troublesome. He particularly didn't like the taste of that Kilik fellow from yesterday, although he acknowledged that this prejudice was mostly irrational. But goddamn, he'd dislike someone for no conscious reason if he wanted to!
M.A. was either left blissfully unaware of any tension in the atmosphere, or chose not to delve too deeply upon it. Either way, she seemed puzzled by Crenu's jest, wondering how any of the four could be a "mommy figure" (not realizing that she, as a female, was the most likely candidate). Upon hearing about Mazarins' wings' functions, however, she thought she might like to try them on herself just like Crenu did (though she did wonder if that was sarcasm or not). Though Mazarin seemed pretty defensive of the things... Maybe not, then. Nevertheless, during his little rant, M.A. couldn't help but giggle.
"Oh! Hello, Kilik," she smiled genially, a little astonished by his sudden appearance as well as the Elekid's clambering up to her shoulder. "Hello, little one," she added, tilting over just a teensy bit due to the weight. He wasn't so little after all; had he grown since yesterday night? She never really was the sturdiest thing, but never mind that. "Is your name Cable, now? Very fitting," she said, lifting a hand to pat his head, feeling a warm bit of static touch her fingers. Before Saebum could as much push out a forced "hello" to the brat kid (Kilik), however, he disappeared and three other kids popped up. He knew that his sister was a magnet for trouble, but he didn't know she attracted people, too! Not to mention, that Kilik guy just dumped one of his Pokemon on his sister, Sae frowned, marking off another point on the guy.
"Oh hey! ... Mike, right?" M.A. greeted, a bit uncertain for the first few moments. She remembered him distinctively after he came a bit closer, however (there was that Wingull fiasco, after all), and so waved back, bidding him closer. What an influx of people! Well, they were in front of the Pokemon center.
"Hello," Saebum said, subconsciously less edgy towards this new guy for the red-head on his arm. Not a threat, the big brother radar beeped. More importantly, however... "Ah! And you must be Flannery; I doubt you remember, but I was one of the pins in your haystacks of challengers," he chuckled, mood lifting. You didn't meet a Gym Leader every day, especially by chance like this. They were like celebrities (plagiarized, lulz). Saebum himself had tasted a little fame in his coordinating career, but he didn't take it anywhere and instead had an early, quiet retirement. Nevertheless, look at his sister's networking system already; she'd only left for a month or less now, hasn't it been?
"And hello!" the brunete added in response to Sasha's appearance, minutely overwhelmed by the flow of people. The pretty bubblegum pink-haired girl... This was Sasha. Meanwhile, Saebum had to admit to his subconscious that this girl was pretty damn hot, but as he was in the throes of his honeymoon, it was obvious that he keep his head on and keep his eyes on her face. It wasn't too difficult, since Rein was the only girl on his mind. So he gave a polite hello.
"Well, we were heading to that seminar now," M.A. said, still smiling that cheery thing of hers. "Are you all coming to?" she asked, directing the question at the three who had just arrived. They could all leave together, or something, if that was the case.

Officer Jenny watched the Duskull float out of its obscurity, realizing its intent too late to stop it. "Wait!" she cried, but to no avail; the Duskull was, as Aidan put it, no longer wild.
"I hate to be pessimistic, but it's very likely that that Duskull was the mayor's son's... The ghosts do tend to be rather rare, after all, and John had a thousand headaches in breeding one," Jenny sighed, having expressed her thoughts too late, it seemed. "But it seems to be quite fond of you, and likely sees you as the only trainer it wants," the officer continued, sitting herself down on the couch beside Aidan. Ah, what a dilemma. The only positive note she could think of was that at least the mayor's son didn't know about the egg hatching yet. What to do?
"Maybe call that Duskull out. I don't think it'd be fair to force it upon another person against its will... Let's see what it wants," she decided at last, setting her hat upon her lap.

Alice watched the Duskull float over and grab a cookie, she smiled as it happily gobbled it up. As it floated towards Aidan, a chill went down her spine. He couldn't possibly be trying to... As she turned over to Aidan she saw the ghost tap on the empty Pokeball. She did her best to react, she jerked and began to shout "..." she sat there with her mouth open as nothing came out. Oh damn my slow reactions!
The Duskull was already residing in the pokeball. As she looked over at everybody's shocked faces, she knew this wasn't a favorable capture. Though, she did her best to be optimistic, "Oh wow! It looks like you caught yourself a Duskull!" She gave a laugh, "I've always wanted a ghost pokemon of my own, but they've never been willing to jump into one of my pokeballs!" She gave another laugh.
Dammit Alice, that was really lame!

Crenu smirked as he backed up closer to Saebum, hands in his pockets as he watched the rather eccentric kid reaction. Jut what the hell was that anyway? Crenu wasn't one to taunt people ouside of battle, and even then it wasn't exactly a common occurance. He whiped his face with his hand, wanting to have grabbed the kids tongue and threatend to pull it out. But he had egged him on for one reason or another, so he decided against it. Instead his attention was on the appearance of that Kilik character from the night prior and, yup, he still rubbed him the wrong way for almost no reason at all. But his Elekid was certainly interesting to see, a rare pokemon indeed. Crenu glanced over at Sae who was clearly troubled for obvious reasons. But it wasn't unreasonable, giving the amount of attention that his little sister was getting from multiple males it was only natural for him to be protective. Crenu didn't really care, but he didn't want there to be confusion about his intentions regaurding M.A., at least not if there were still things that he could learn from her family. "My only interest is battling, those two are the ones you gotta watch out for." He said to Sae, pointing over to Charizard boy and the now retreating Kilik with his head. With that, he backed up a little further, hands still in his pockets as he continued to scope the area. Before long however there were another two, no three people coming closer towards their little group. The heck was with all these people, M.A.'s family must have been well connected in this region. But all of them were adressing M.A., so maybe it was just her and her ever smiling personality that drew so many to her. Ever smiling, just like Kasiya. Maybe there was something in the water, but all jokes aside the prospect of an even larger group wasn't exactly attractive to the normaly broody Crenu. "Tch." He turned his head from the group, leaning up against the pokecenter wall and instead looked at the ground through closed eyelids, listening for their names and voices. Mike and Flannery were the only names he heard, which he assumed belonged to the young man and woman that had arrived together. Here he was trying to avoid direct contact with people he didn't know, and there for could not trust, but it seemed his efforts were in vain. Sae's words snapped him out of his less than ideal mood however, did he say Flannery was a gym leader? How very interesting indeed...

Riza surveyed the spot in which the battle had just taken place, quite taken aback by the size of the crater in the center of it. It must have been quite a Pokemon to cause such destruction, and she was silently thankful that neither of her pokemon had been anywhere near the radius of the blast. 'How could anything survive something like that?' she thought, looking over at Serenity. She followed her gaze in time to see two familiar people enter the pokecenter and she frowned, once again feeling that pang of jealousy. 'What gives?' she thought, angry at herself. 'Why do I care?'
"Do you suppose they were a part of that battle?" she asked, though she didn't expect an answer. She shrugged at the question, looking around at all the people who seemed to be heading back towards the city. "I don't know for sure... but I bet someone around here knows." Serenity didn't seem like the type to go and ask so Riza took it upon herself. "Hey, excuse me," she said, grabbing the arm of the first boy who walked past her. He was pretty cute, tall, and dark haired, and he didn't seem to mind being stopped by a pretty girl. "Do you happen to know where the seminar is being held?"
"Yeah, I'm just heading there myself," the boy answered. "Near the Slateport museum, you really can't miss it." He smiled at Riza and then at Serenity before continuing on his way.
"Well, there we go," Riza grinned, waving at the boy as he walked away. "Plus it's nice to have an excuse to talk to cute boys. Should we get going?" * * * * * Katie was glad that the route leading back to Jubilife was pretty direct and in the distance she could even see the big city coming into view. 'It's pretty awesome, being out here on my own,' she thought, smiling to herself. It was very empowering for her to be traveling like this though this kind of thing wasn't a problem for a confident girl like Katie. Not only that, but she had Genki with her and he was her best friend. What could be better?
Katie continued to walk, quietly singing to herself as she went along. She figured that after a quick stop at the pokecenter, it wouldn't be a bad idea to check out the store as well, and maybe pick up an extra potion or two. It couldn't hurt to have extra ones in case they were needed. Katie had been too lost in thought to watch where she was going and she somehow managed to trip herself on a small rock that was sitting in the middle of the path. Katie went sprawling to the ground, making enough noise to startle a flock of starly that had landed in the area. A few of the birds remained behind, but only one seemed brave enough to check out what had happened. Katie pulled herself to her feet and found herself looking into the eyes of said Starly. The girl grinned, already reaching for Genki's Pokeball. "A Starly," she told the Chimchar as he appeared in front of her. "And a strong one too, I bet. Get in there and use your scratch on it! We're going to catch us a new friend!"
The Chimchar let out a growl and dashed forward, preparing to swipe at the bird with his claws. Both Genki and Katie had underestimated the bird's speed and it zipped out of the way by means of a quick attack, chirping dauntingly at the pair as it did so. "And it's fast, too! We've got to have it!"

Once it was actually her turn, it didn't take long for the nurse to take Kasiya's Pokemon, give them treatment, and then give them back again. She didn't say anything about Hiro's condition and it was both unsettling yet calming at the same time. She placed each sphere on her belt and looked around as Keegan came back into the room. She waved him over and the two headed out the door. Kasiya didn't really know where this so-called seminar thing was being held but it didn't bother her too much, as it wasn't the real reason she was here in the first place. She looked around at all the people and sighed a bit. As friendly and outgoing as she was, even she was growing tired of being around such a large crowd.
"Any idea where we have to go?" she asked, stopping as she caught sight of a rather familiar poof of read hair, and also some flame-decorated clothing. "Should we just follow Mike and Flannery?" It wasn't until she actually said it that she realized the two were hand in hand and that they'd seemed to resolve whatever troubles they'd been having yesterday. That's good, she thought, very happy for the both of them. Mike deserves to be happy, and so does Flannery. Subconsciously she gave Keegan's hand a bit of a squeeze and moved a bit closer to him, still a little chilled from the cool, evening air. She soon realized that she recognized a whole group of people, and she scratched her head a little. "Wow, M.A. sure is popular," she commented, obviously amazed at the tall brunette's ability to make friends, though her naivety was also as apparent as the blonde hair atop her head. She didn't recognize the guy in the Charizard wings, though she thought they were a little out of place, at the same time they looked kinda cool. I wonder where he got those? she thought, scratching her chin.
=-=-=-=-= Flannery only raised her eyebrow at the sight of the ridiculous wings and only laughed a little. "Come on, are you telling me you don't want something like that?" she asked, nudging Mike with her elbow. It was hard to tell if she was joking or not. She only nodded at Saebum, shrugging sheepishly. "Sorry man, but it's hard to remember every person you battle, y'know?" She looked around the rest of the group and smiled at M.A. "Yeah, we were just heading there as well," she nodded, looking back over her shoulder in time to see yet two more familiar people. "Well if it isn't the two latest recipients of my coveted Heat Badge," she laughed, waving at the two. "I guess with all of us together like this, we have us a party!"

"This is just what I wear. I'm not actually a cadet yet, not until next year." Kirsa frowned some, not really appreciating how he was acting as if he knew her - though he was pretty much completely right. Was she that easy to read...? Hm, perhaps she would ask Sasha. He rubbed at the back of his head, grin fading a little. "Ahh...I see. Sorry, I didn't know you were that young. Anyway, what are you doing way over here? Shouldn't you be...you know. Partying or getting ready for the seminar or something?"
"...I was on the phone. It's quiet over here." She didn't need to ask him what he was doing over here; he was a sailor, after all. The answer would probably be obvious. "I was about to go back that way for the announcement, yes. Why, should I not be out here?" He lowered his hand and shook his head, obvious traces of that smile left on his face. "No, no, you're fine. I was just about to head in to town, thought it was you I saw over here. Mind if I tag along?" He leaned over so that they were face to face. "C'mon, I won't cause trouble. It'll be fun."
Mm...Kirsa couldn't really see any harm in it. He didn't seem like he had any bad intentions - maybe a bit dumb, but not bad. Of course, even if he did, it's not like he would get far. Kirsa was not some helpless girl. "..I suppose it's fine. Am I allowed to know your name yet, or is the magic still in danger of being lost?" Or...however it was he had phrased it. She spoke as she walked, leading the way off the docks. "Ahhh, I suppose you can. My name's Ivann." "..Kirsa."
There was some idle chit chat as they walked toward the museum, which according to Ivann the conference would be held. It wasn't until they right in front that Kirsa remembered Sasha's parting words, coming to an abrupt stop and digging out her phone. "...We have to wait here for a few minutes. I promised I would call someone." A flip and a dial, and Sasha was being called.

"How would I know, Kassie? I didn't even know about this seminar thing until just a while ago. But yeah, I think following those two would be a good plan of action." He raised an eyebrow at the large group of people, but didn't say anything. As much as he loved Kasiya and being around her, he was very much aware of the fact that most of her friends didn't really like him (Mike and Flannery aside), and he didn't want to alienate her just because he felt ousted by the lot of 'em. It didn't really bother him, and why should it? He wasn't out to please anybody, save for the cute blonde on his arm. But even still, he felt bad for Kasiya, knowing that her cheerfulness had a tendency to attract a lot of friends, and he didn't want to make her choose between them and him.
So, even though it was against his very nature, he decided to behave and keep his mouth shut and all the possible-smart a** comments to himself for now, though he couldn't make any promises if he were provoked. He stood next to her, not saying anything, all the while hoping they would get a move on to this whatever it was they were all planning on going to. ===== "Now Starrie, give 'em your Swift attack," the small girl shouted. These ghosts were tricky and she wanted to be sure her attacks would hit. She knew this attack was one of deadly accuracy and she watched her Staryu jumped up, core twinkling, and shoot out a barrage of sparkling, golden stars that each headed unerringly for the Gastly.
Morty only shook his head when he saw the attack go off, and he closed his eyes. The Gastly stuck its tongue out at the small girl and her Staryu as the golden stars passed through it without causing any harm whatsoever. "Swift, though impossible to dodge, is a normal type move, and therefore is useless against a ghost type Pokemon like Gastly. Come on, Miharu, is that all you've got?" the gym leader asked, his voice and expression remaining calm and collected.
Miharu frowned in response to the failed attack, and pretended like Morty's comments didn't bother her. How could she have forgotten that Swift was a normal move? Ah well, small mistake, but it was still early and she had plenty of time to make up for it. "Bubblebeam, Starrie, go!" she commanded.

The starly appeared to have different ideas about being captured though, and after escaping the attempted scratch attack it used the momentum from the previous quick attack to arch around and strike the Chimchar from behind. Genki stumbled a bit but didn't fall, whirling around and firing a fierce ember attack on Katie's command.
The small burst of fire singed the bird's feathers a bit and he (as noted by the prominent forehead) let out an indignant shriek before it charged forward and rammed into Genki for a tackle. The little chimp let out an angry growl though he was hurting.
"Come on, Genki, you can take him!" Katie cheered. "Burn him again!" she shouted. The little chimp let out another burst of flames but it seemed stronger this time, and Katie realized that it was because of the Chimchar's blaze ability. However, it proved to be to much for the little bird and it flew off. "Damn!" Katie shouted, kicking the ground. "I didn't even get a chance to throw a ball at it."
Genki slumped a little and looked back at his trainer, quite sad that their quarry had escaped. Katie sighed and picked him up. "It's okay, Genki, it's not your fault. You were just too much for him to handle," she said, hugging him gently.

It was decided then that Katie and Genki should sit down and have a bite to eat, since they'd skipped lunch and hadn't had anything since breakfast. The Chimchar was content to munch on a bowl of special Pokemon food just for fire-types while Katie had an apple and a granola bar. The food seemed to be just what the Chimchar needed and soon Genki was living up to his name and running and jumping and playing, looking as though he hadn't had a battle all day. Katie was glad to see that Genki was feeling better, though she was still down in the dumps after having let two different Pokemon get away.
Sensing his trainer's sadness Genki bounded over to her and climbed up into her lap. Katie giggled and hugged the chimp. "Thanks, Genki, but I'll be okay. I guess timing is everything when it comes to trying to make the capture." She closed her eyes and ruffled the little tuft of hair atop Genki's head, going back to the many lessons she'd had at the trainer's school. "It's simple," she murmured. 'We weaken the Pokemon and throw a Pokeball. I think maybe we're attacking too much. The Pokemon gets spooked and flees then. Hmm.....' While Katie was deep in thought, Genki kept his senses alert in case anything should creep up on him. There was a ruffling of feathers from behind him and a slight cooing noise, and as he turned to look he spotted another starly pecking at the ground where he'd eaten his lunch, obviously looking for crumbs. The Chimchar tugged on his trainer's sleeve and pointed over at the starly when she opened her eyes. "Oh, that's awesome," the girl smiled, setting Genki on the ground. "This time, we'll get it for sure."

Kilik handed over his Pokemon, leaning against the counter in the Pokemon Center. He'd hoped it wouldn't take too long for them to heal up. After all, it was only two Pokemon that really needed the check-up and all Elekid needed was a bit of rest. The boy paced back and forth, thinking to himself. He'd occasionally look out the window to see the group still standing there. That Saebum character didn't seem to be his biggest fan, and he wasn't even sure what he did. Was it something he said? Or didn't say? Oh well, it's not like he had to have everyone's approval. Then there was Crenu, whom he had met only at one previous time. "Maybe he's sour because I showed him up at Azelea Town when those Rockets hit?" Kilik sort of laughed this notion off. Surely nobody would hold a grudge for something as foolish as that, right?
Then there's Mike, Flannery, Keegan and Kasiya, the two couples of this whole shindig, he thought with a sigh, scratching the back of his head. Sure he thought they were both cute with their partners but damn if he didn't feel awkward around them. He hadn't spent much time with Keegan so maybe he wouldn't seem like such a bad guy. Next to them was Sasha. She's cute, but a little eccentric for me, he thought, looking up at the light. It was still on.
Finally, there was M.A. He could go on for a while about her in his head. She was cute, funny, but a little naive. He wanted to get to know her more, that was for sure, but he first had to overcome the obstacles of her brother and his general awkwardness around girls. Kilik scratched his nose. The bell still hadn't gone off. Kilik sighed heavily. He wanted to go, darn it!
Mazarin looked over his shoulder to see if anyone had started to follow him, but alas. He was still all by himself. "C'mon, you gu---" he froze upon seeing the girl with pink hair. Banette blinked and his trainer disappeared. If a human had developed teleportation, Mazarin just perfected it. In the blink of an eye, he was next to Sasha, practically trying to keep his tongue in his mouth. The Ghost-type Pokemon appeared beside his trainer in a whisp and had the same wide-eyed expression. He let out a long wolf whistle, tapping his foot on the ground excitedly. "Well, hellooooooo Nurse!"
Cable smiled at M.A's touch then looked around at all the people who were coming. Gee, it was that Mike fellow! Perhaps he had his Magby with him. Though he was feeling a bit sleepy, so perhaps a battle wasn't the best thing to do. The plug blinked at Mazarin's actions. How could a human be so...odd?

Katie eyed the grey bird as Genki crept silently towards it, her heart pounding against her ribcage. She noted that this starly was a male as well, but that kind of thing didn't matter to her when it came to Pokemon. She chose Pokemon that she thought were cute, strong, and would make a good partner, hence the reason she chose Genki. The Turtwig and Piplup that had also been available were also quite cute, but the Piplup had been lazy and lethargic, hardly paying her any attention. The Turtwig hadn't been much better, as it had only sat on the table and stared at her like she had a second head growing out of her shoulders. Katie smirked at the memory. She remembered laughing at the trainers that got stuck with those two lazy Pokemon as partners. The Chimchar had been happy and very energetic, looking around all excitedly when she'd came into the lab. The little chimp had even gone so far as to jump up into the girl's arms and that had been the deal maker right there. Katie never regretted her choice of Pokemon, and she watched with pride as her partner Pokemon let off a fierce, sneak attack ember on the unsuspecting bird.
The Starly let out a screech and flapped its wings rapidly, some feathers smoldering as it glared at the Chimchar and human. How dare they sneak up on it like that! With a growl the small grey bird zipped forward, using quick attack to slam into the offending chimp. Genki was knocked back a bit, but otherwise he appeared to be eager to continue.
"Go for a scratch," Katie commanded, this time withdrawing a pokeball and holding it at the ready. 'We're not going to miss this time,' she thought, watching as Genki delivered a fierce scratch to the Pokemon's chest. "Here we go!" Katie shouted, throwing the sphere at the little bird.

For a moment it looked like it would work, but the starly saw the ball heading towards it and it let out a cry, using yet another quick attack to get out of the way, and it fled the battle altogether. "Aww not again!" Katie wailed, falling to her knees. "I can't believe this!"
Genki sighed and looked over his shoulder at his trainer, feeling very sad and somehow guilty that he hadn't done all he could. The Chimchar wandered over to the pokeball that was resting on the ground nearby and picked it up, and brought it over to Katie. "Thanks, pal," Katie said weakly, picking up the sphere and putting it into one of the little pokeball pockets on her dress, next to the spot where Genki's ball rested. "Maybe we're just not meant to have a Starly on our team," the girl sighed, standing up and gathering her things. She adjusted her messenger bag carefully, her spirits definitely low now that she'd missed three Pokemon in a row.
"Some top graduate," she mumbled, kicking a small rock as she walked. "Can't even catch a stupid starly. I'd be the laughingstock of my whole class if they knew how badly I was doing now." Genki sighed and scampered up onto his trainer's shoulder, leaning around and nuzzling her cheek a little. Katie patted him on the head and banished all the negative thoughts from her mind. So what if she'd messed up those first few times? She'd get more Pokemon, even if it took a month or longer. 'Yeah that's it, we can't give up,' Katie thought with a smile.

The one thing Miharu always liked about Starrie was that it was quick to respond to her commands, and was very loyal at that. The Starshape Pokemon launched itself into the air, core gem twinkling brightly again as a strong jet of small bubbles was fired forward. The Staryu's aim was excellent and the attack hit the ghost head on, but Miharu could easily tell that Morty's Gastly were well trained, and that it would take more than a Bubblebeam to knock it out.
Morty remained silent as the attack hit, though the smallest hint of a smile could momentarily be seen on his face before it disappeared. "Good hit," he said, nodding slowly. "But we're not through yet. Gastly, use your Night Shade!" The ghost's eyes glowed with an eerie hue as the same type of dark energy as before seemed to spill from the Pokemon's very body and streak across the floor towards the water type.
This attack Starrie couldn't dodge and it shivered as it felt the dark energy overwhelm it. Starrie, however, was also not so easily taken down and it jumped back, once again taking up position in front of Miharu. The small girl thought for a moment, but then smiled. "Okay Starrie, now let's show them the power of your Surf attack!" Once again, the core gem of the Staryu began to flicker as it seemingly summoned water from nowhere. It quickly rose up as a large wall before crashing down again on Starrie's command.
For the first time during that battle there was a flicker of worry on Morty's face, and he could only watch helplessly as the wall of water crashed down on his Pokemon.
