Arriving in Mist, Eluamous kept a sharp eye behind him for signs of pursuit; the Angra Mainyu seemed to be appearing near him way too easily ever since he'd killed Karite... Glancing in his reflection against the river he noticed black rings starting to form under his eyes... The tainted gem was already affecting him after only a day; Karite probably was in pursuit of the gem still... Since he'd been affected by it for so much longer, was it possible that a connection existed between the Ensign and the item?
If so, then keeping the gem was dangerous to maintain in his possession; he would have to get rid of it. Of course turning into a raven and using the flock to bypass dangerous blows was interesting in its own right.... Snapping out of it, Eluamous decided that the gem really was taking a hold of him, it was already affecting his body externally; it wasn't a safe object to keep in his possession not because he lacked control; but because the gem knew that he was not worthy to wield it.
'It knows its own...', Eluamous would be the first to admit that he leaned towards Chaos as opposed to law. Not that he was a bad guy by any sense; he certainly had done his fair share of good; just not in ways that the laws would appreciate sometimes. Striking several seals to test the theory, he found that the gem indeed reacted most violently against chaos; although it seemed indifferent between good and evil; an object of neutrality and law... something beyond his ability to use safely, that much was certain...
Eluamous made his way towards a pawn shop in order to see what the trinket could fetch. It was of no use to him if he could not use the artifact.

Waking, Rakurai smirked eyes ablaze with life. He'd been graced by a devil the day before whom had saw it necessary to give the youth a new set of skills. Something that he'd not ever felt in his life, though something within him understood it slightly. His eyes focused on a writing utensil located to his right on a desk. The object dimmed for a moment as if it was disappearing, though shot back to its normal state shortly afterward. Blinking, he leapt from bed; not wanting to deal with the old man questioning him just yet this morning.

Slowly he made his way out into the light of day. The forehead protector now tied to his arm shone brightly as he strode out into the light. Today he sported a new attire. A red sash hung loosely about him while his white hair hung about his head.

"Might as well show off the new get up in town. Maybe I'll meet a girl? Haha" said Rakurai quietly to himself as he strode quietly among the trees towards the innermost sections of the city.

Entering the city, Eluamous sighted a boy in a red sash, and suddenly an idea came to him as he watched the loosely hung sash ripple... like a body would float in the water...

'...Oh NO.... you are NOT going to do what I think you are going to do!!!' 'Why hello there, it's been some time since you talked to me!' 'Don't you Hello There me! We are not faking our own death to throw off pursuit!' 'Do you know Crius's power level?' '....No, and don't tell me; I'll guess.... a hundred and thirty thousand?' 'Cold' 'One twenty five?' 'Colder' 'One fifty?' 'Still cold....' 'Two forty?' 'Time's up... Over Two Hundred and Ninety Thousand... that's double your power level; and don't think the Super Spartan will make up for it; even if you can match his chakra pool, he has way too many techniques at his disposal... and puppets' 'Which explains why he wanted to trade for mine.' 'Yup... Now then, we're going to try to throw the Angra Mainyu off your tail so you can build up your strength. Unless you want to be no better than that psychopath and start eating hearts to steal powers from other clans' 'I don't even want to know how you thought of that.' 'Good, then we're agreed.' 'I'm going to find a way to get into the real world and stab you one day, I swear...' 'Good to know, now shut up so I can write your next move'

Approaching the boy, Eluamous quickly spoke to him; "Do you want to earn a trinket of quite a fair bit of value?", keeping the tainted gem of ravens hidden for the time being until Rakurai responded.

: Rakurai Raiga :

User Image
A light cool breeze caught the branches above; tossing the leaves to and fro. Chirping sounds from both birds and crickets alike echoed amongst the green underbrush. The scuttling noises of a squirrel chasing its mate caught Rakurai's attention which had previously been upon the day prior. There was an uneasiness inside of him which urged angrily for battle, though he knew not as to why this came about. Before that day, yes he longed to prove himself amongst his peers, but never this blood lust. This violence served no purpose and yet it stayed as if it were a festering blister ready to explode, though no end to the resulting explosion in sight.

The powers that manifested within his body upon meeting the Orochi Master before were becoming more intune as he graduallly came to understand it more. It was like a baby learning to walk, except in a mental state that reached out past ones body. Rakurai felt the environment around the path at which he strode just as if it was an extension of his own body. Each time he reached for an object with his mind it would dimm if not disappear. It was problematic within his mind as to why the object wouldn't stay invisible for long and what exact uses he'd find for it in future confrontations.

There was more to these uneasy feelings as well. At times he felt as if he were going to lurch out and strike at an unknown object with a nonexistent katana. He felt a longing for this nonexistent weapon which he could see within his mind upon closing the black eyes below his furrowed brow. Six foot in length; much too long for it to be concidered a Katana. Weight seemed fairly light within his mind, but that could be due to it being nonexistent.

"What in the hell is going on with me?" said Rakurai, pausing to place his palm against a rather large oak tree. Beads of sweat rolled about his brow; fist tightening upon the sash at his waist. His eyes caught sight of a rather slender female not too far up the path which brought attention to the fact that Rakurai looked rather ridiculous at the moment. "Pull yourself together...."

Villagers became more frequent as he entered a more prominent section within Mist. The folk he'd grown up around nodded to him as he passed, some even pausing to say a hello here and there. It just so happened that a newcomer was visiting the village and doing quite a good job sticking out. Rakurai tilted his head slightly, staring down the newcomer. He seemed to be having some inner dialogue in the middle of the stone pathway that led down to the merchant stalls.

The newcomer even made an advance at Rakurai, which most likely wasn't the best move given his current state of mind. Rakurai, however, was able to control himself long enough to hear what the man had to say.

Blinking, he tightened his hand upon his side, "What do you mean earn? Do you make it a point to walk up to every villager within foreign lands to make odd requests?" This newcomer hadn't introduced himself, nor had he made much sense out of his question. Cautiously, he took a step back in doing so allowing enough room between the two just in case the man were to become his opponent.

'And the prize for always picking the suspicious citizen goes to...' 'Oh can it, or I'll make you lose an eye' 'I can just regenerate it, empty threat!' 'Not if I refuse to write you in regenerating one' 'Right right... so what do we do about Mr. Suspicious Peasant?' 'Just talk with him, he's suspcicious but he won't attack unless he's provoked... so keep your physique to yourself and don't look intimidating.' 'It's too hidden if you ask me... This cloak you chose me wearing hides everything; and serious, what warrior with any sense wears his hair this long; it just gets in the way.' 'Right... I'll find you a new picture if you be quite for ten minutes.' '........' 'Well?' '......' 'Playing the silent treatment, eh? Well I guess I'd best finish up writing before your ten minutes are up'

Raakurai was suspicious, although Eluamous had to give him credit, mysterious ninja asking if someone wanted to earn a trinket probably wasn't the best way to go... "Don't worry, I'm not out to hurt ya...", Eluamous quickly explained, "There's people looking for me, and I need to fake my death.... so if anyone goes around asking if you've seen a Spartan, would you be able to lie and tell them I fell into the river and my body was swept away by the current? For maintaining the tale, you get this... it's a gemstone aligned with the power of a Raven, at least from what I've discovered."
It really wasn't a bad plan; so long as Eluamous laid low he could train on his own away from the threat of the Angra Mainyu's forces. If they thought him dead it would cut off pursuit for some degree of time; and if he could find a way to get a training partner in addition to solo training; then he would be all the better... But first things first, he had to throw the Angra Mainyu off his trail.

: Rakurai Raiga :

User Image Blinking, Rakurai stared at the man a moment. What the man said was on the edge of lunacy, yet easy enough to comprehend. The need to fake ones death in order to escape was highly cowardly in Rakurai's eyes, but if it resulted in his own gain; why not?

Shrugging, the youth tilted his head again while staring at the man, "If that is all you request then of course." In reality the odds of someone asking Rakurai about this man were most likely slim to none. Therefore lying most likely wouldn't be needed. Regardless, Rakurai held out his hand to receive the item; his eyes darting to the side as to not focus on the item when given to him. It would look quite suspicious if someone figured out he had the ability to make things disappear.

[[ it's Eluamous (the character) arguing with his writer (me).

"Thanks kid... just watch out who sees ya with that thing; there's a crazy guy from the Bikou clan who might want that gem... I sort of killed him and took it off his body. Either way, he's a pushover; and pretty gullible in terms og getting him to drink strange s**t; nothing you probably can't handle.!", Eluamous tossed the Tainted Gem of Ravens towards Rakurai, and as soon as the gemstone had left his hands, the Spartan struck a quick hand seal to initiate the Flying Thunder God technique; teleporting him to the last of his placed markers; the outskirts of The Cool... Although the place had been in disuse due to several events such as Drago's death; The Cool's library of techniques still remained intact... If he were to learn from anywhere; he might as well seclude himself in the mostly abandoned sanctuary where he could train in a relatively sturdy location and have some technique scrolls to look over in the meantime...

The boat ride was a silent one which gave her some time to drift into her own thoughts while letting the scent of the cool waters she sailed across sooth her. This was the kind of environment that she could get used to. There was some tension in the air but for the most part it was peaceful. Before she knew it, the boat had reached the port of the Hidden Mist Village and she exited. She sniffed the air, listened to whatever sounds there were and used her feet to feel for any vibrations trapped within the ground. Surprisingly, things were still and it caused an eerie feeling to envelope her. Nothing should be this still. No matter where you went, there was always some form of movement.

Shaking it off, she bid farewell to the boatman and continued on her way. The chill from the mist caused her skin to prickle with goose bumps and strangely enough rouse the want to bathe. Perhaps there was a bath house or even a hot spring nearby. While she was used to bathing in a hot spring would expose her to any passer by, to bathe in a bath house for once would be nice for a change. With her mind made up, she quickened her pace until she came upon a village. There were a few people roaming about, going about their usual routine and all of them were unique in their own way. Perhaps she would bathe in a hot spring after all.

She hadn’t smelled any hot springs on her way with the path she took, so she figured it would be best to walk around and wait until she found one.

Walking off the boat he rode in on, Ikkoku yawned and stretched as he set foot onto foreign land for the first time in his life. The Hidden Mist Village certainly lived up to its name. There was fog everywhere, which would impair his eyesight even more if he weren’t on his eye medication. The condensation in the air reminded him of the clouds surrounding his own village before it was demolished, bringing about a sense of welcoming familiarity. He certainly picked the perfect place to “study abroad”. Speaking of which, Ikkoku made sure to keep an eye on the pale-skinned girl he had followed onto the boat he had just exited. There was something about her that the Hidden Cloud ninja couldn’t quite put his finger on. In any case, while he was here, he might as well get to know her. Staying far enough away to not be suspicious but close enough for him to see through the mist, he began his exploration of the village.

As Akane wandered the town in search of her hot spring, to her relief she came to find a bath house. She would have smiled if she didn’t have the nagging feeling that she was being followed. A growl reverberated in her throat. Who dare follow her? What they intend on doing if they managed to get to her? Slowly she turned her head as if looking over her shoulder and she sniffed the air. A specific scent caught her attention as it had been nearby when she left the port to come to this place. It smelled of honey sickles during a hot summer day with an underlining musk added to the mix. So she knew that her follower was male if nothing else. She was going to have to keep her guard up. Without so much as a second glance, she turned and entered the bath house.

Once inside, she ventured to the front desk where a woman sat. After speaking of what she wanted, she found out that this place also had rooms for one to stay the night. While she had enough money for housing, she was sure she would need to get a job as she had the distinct feeling that she would more than likely be spending more than a few days at this place. Once she bathed she would take to looking as well as seek out any who could possibly teach her a few of the village’s techniques. No matter, first things first. It was time to bathe. She placed her funds on the table and shortly after was given a room number as well as two towels.

She made quick work of finding the shower room and even faster work of removing her clothes however she did not fold them up and place them to the side to stay dry. Instead she spread out her body suite so that they would get wet with water and soap and be clean while she showered. The second task to be done was to remove her blindfold. Eyes, blacker than the darkest parts of the cosmos stared blindly at the wall before her while slender fingers maneuvered through her hair undoing her long braid. Akane spent a total of twenty minutes showering before turning the shower head off. Quickly she ran her fingers through her hair, gathering it all together and she rang it out as best she could before putting it into a braid once again, then wrapping it around itself until it formed a bun. Moving over to a wooden bench she grabbed one of the towels she had been given and wrapped it around her naked form then she returned to gather her blindfold and body suite.

She repeated the process of ringing them out as well before grabbing the second towel and walking through the sliding wooden doors that led into the springs. The heat of the steam dancing on the surface of the spring water caused her cheeks to flush. This was exactly what she needed. Meticulously, she spread her blindfold and body suite across a large rock so that the heat and steam could properly dry them out and with great care to prevent herself from slipping she entered the water only to soon after sit. She leaned back with closed eyes and allowed the hot water to soothe the aches and stiffness of her muscles all the while having her thoughts focus on her follower.

The same question continuously popped up. Why was he following her?

As Ikkoku continued to follow the girl whose beauty had convinced him to travel to the Hidden Mist Village, he began thinking back to something he had been pondering a few days earlier. Just as certain chakra elements weakened and strengthened each other, could souls also affect each other in a similar fashion? Seeing as chakra is essentially a form of energy that dwells within each human being, could it be that chakra reflects the essence of one’s soul? For instance, he specialized in wind and lightning-based chakra, which perfectly matched the main aspects of his personality (wind symbolizing his slight laziness and lack of interest in many things that didn’t directly relate to him and lightning reflecting his determination and stubbornness in maintaining his point of view to the few issues he truly cared about). If this were true, were some souls naturally stronger than others and did some souls strengthen other souls? Maybe this had to do with why he decided to follow this girl in front of him. Then again, he was probably over-analyzing the whole situation.

As he finished his miniature philosophical quandary, Ikkoku noticed that the girl was entering a building. As he got closer, he found the building to be a hot spring. Oh, jackpot! Things were looking better and better for him. Hot girls and hot water in the same place at the same time….it was like something out of a fantasy. The young shinobi was also pleased to learn that the hot spring also served as a hotel. After asking the woman behind the front desk for directions to the nearest shinobi academy nearby, Ikkoku decided to rent a room for the evening to rest up for what could be a long journey to said academy. Was that girl there for the same reason? Man, he had to stop thinking so much about her. She was a complete stranger. Still, she was quite a looker. Maybe, if he was still lucky tomorrow, he would get a chance to meet her before she left. After unpacking his one small bag, he undressed and stepped into the men’s bath, sighing contently as he let the hot spring’s water work its magic.

Her muscles tensed when that scent mixed with the earthy smell of the springs entered her nose once again. That boy was in the next spring over. Her brows furrowed as her temper was starting to flare. First he followed her to the village and now he followed her to the bath house. Just what the blazing hell did this guy want? If she didn’t have an ounce of self control she would have gone over there and threw every single shuriken and kunai she owned at him to turn him into a living pin cushion. Exhaling through her nose she calmed herself and exited the spring. Shortly after she replaced her now wet towel with the other she had been provided and wrapped it around herself.

Hopefully she would find some peace in her room. After she gathered her belongings, she left the springs and ventured down the long corridor until she came to the door that would lead her to her room. With ease she unlocked the door and ventured inside. Once instead she removed the towel, folded it and placed it in the corner of her room. The next thing she did was get dressed and tied her blindfold over her eyes once more. She roamed about her small room for a moment or two until she came to stand in the very center of the room and then she sat with her legs folded Indian style.

It is unclear how long Akane had sitting in the spot but apparently it was long enough to have made her doze off. She wasn’t asleep for too long until she felt the need to move around again. She did still have much of the village to explore and it was a good excuse to get out of there before she ended up hunting whoever her follower was down and trying to kill him. Not only would such actions get her promptly kicked out of this establishment, but she would probably have every single villager on her a**. That was too much drama that could arise over someone she deemed unworthy of her time. With little effort, she unfolded her legs and came to stand before exiting her room and venturing down the corridor.

Kill him child. The boy means nothing and would not be missed in the slightest. He’d be an easy kill. His own skills and strength do not exceed your own. Come now my twisted little marionette. End his pathetic life.

She didn’t even grace the demon with an answer, even though his words carried such allure. She refused to take such a risk and she had it in her mind that she would not be swayed. Soon enough she was outside of the main doors to the bath house and she wasted no time in continuing her wandering. While wondering she made sure to memorize how many steps it took her to get from one place to the next all the while listening to the various sounds of peoples voices and of any animals that might have possibly been roaming amongst the crowd. Then suddenly she felt it, although it was kind of hard to put an exact description to it. One thing was for sure though; such a feeling caused her whole being to tingle as if it were falling asleep.

The further she walked, the stronger the feeling became. Apparently she was getting closer to the area whatever had just happened, had taken place. Now two scents graced her nose although one was very faint. The scent that remained however smelled of rain after a fierce storm with a bit of musk mixed in there. Another male it seemed. Had he been the one who had created such an occurrence? Perhaps he would be the one to speak to. She took two more steps closer but then left it at that as she still wanted to have enough distance to evade an attack if he proved to be one of the unsociable types.

“I seek enlightenment and to better my skills. Are you the one I am to come to in order to accomplish this?”

Her introduction was forward as usual. She decided to leave out her name and where she was from as in her opinion it would be a waste of her time and his if he was not the one who could assist her.

: Rakurai Raiga :

User Image The man before him clearly wished death upon himself more so then just a wish for his livelyhood being kept secret. Rakurai may only be a sixteen year old adolescent, but he clearly wasn't a boy. It was nearly eight months prior when he'd began shaving and had already graduated one of the more tough shinobi academies. Just those few accomplishments showed much of his manhood that had already began to blossom.

There, however, was not enough time to argue this with the irritatingly simple minded man. While Rakurai had been contemplating his anger, the man had given him warnings to bide by, but there was no need for that. Some Nin did not need to hide or sulk off in a dark corner. Indeed this had been his first encounter with a coward such as he. If this was any indication of the outside world that he'd yet to explore, then the boy should just as soon apply at the local ramen shop. Adventure wouldn't be found with slivering chicken shits such as he.

The Gem landed neatly within his palm, glistening from the rays that shot downward through the clouds. It was a curious artifact that may indeed find itself a use among Rakurai's many exploits. His eyes were transfixed upon the item, not knowing exactly how to activate it or what exactly it may do. The fear torn man before hadn't given any indication as to how it works. While processing this information within his brain the rays that were glimmering off of the gems surface shot forth an eerie glow into Rakura's eyes.

Eyes still shocked slightly, he'd blinked several times. It was odd what had just happened. Time had seemed to stop in his general area. The folk around them had paused mid-stride and even conversations paused as if in a picture painted on a canvas. Fairly confused, Rakurai's eyes blinked again as sunlight faultered for a moment to reveal that of a Raven landing upon a perch not too fargone from his current position.

The raven tilted its head to observe the youth, but upon opening its mouth the usual kawing sound didn't manifest. Instead a deep voiced old man spoke, "Rakurai. Whether by dumb luck or sheer fate you have been chosen to be my weilder. The man before you wasn't fit to be my match, yet you seem to be intelligent enough so I will grant you my power so long as you deserve it. The Gem you hold before you must be put into your chest cavity. Make a slice the length of the Gem and put its backside to your chest. The Gem will activate and you'll be granted knowledge of my kind. Ravens may be scavengers, but we have many more traits that you humans do not understand. Thats what the Gem is for. It translates our will into your thoughts. I will leave now.... Take care not to lose my possession for I will not do this for you again."

While the Raven took flight Rakurai slid a kunai enough to break two inches of skin within his chest cavity after pulling up his shirt. Blood began trickling down his chest and pain shot through his head, but Rakurai did as the elder raven had said. As the Elder Raven had foretold; the gem sucked itself within the hole and sealed the wound. This pain too was agonizing, but there wasn't much he could do aside from kneel in pain.

It was as if nothing had changed aside from his kneeling position when Rakurai came to. The daydream hadn't been a dream at all, but it felt as much, "What in the hell was that....?" Again his thoughts were interrupted, though this time it wasn't that of a winged companion.

Rakurai turned his head to the side, blood still dripping from the kunai which had injured him only moments before. It was a curious looking female with black appendages upon her eyes, hands and feet. Accompanied by these garments was a fairly enticing leather garb. He could only shift his balance and stare at her a moment in disbelief while wondering silently what attracted so many foreigners to him upon this day. A momentary lapse later, Rakurai cleared his throat and spoke, "I dare say that I am the greatest within this village. I myself am only a Genin, but I have been taught by my Gramps who was once a prominent figure. I can attempt what you ask, but don't expect it to be a masterful lesson." At this, Rakurai slid the kunai back into its holder after cleaning its blade on the tree to his immediate right, "My name is Rakurai Raiga. Yours is?"
