Lex Luthor is dangerously genre savvy and far smarter than Superman, and never makes the mistake of fighting him when thereisn't a chance he'd come out on top, and those other entities are God-level eldritch abominations that hadn his own a** to him until the rest of the Justice League shows up or he finds a way to destroy whatever showed up without getting destroyed.

Out of curiosity, why the hell didn't Luthor make a suit of Kryptonite... and then a gun that shoots Kryptonite beams... or... didn't he do something like that? Or power some android with a Kryptonite core... or something?

He didn't make a suit because it also gives you cancer. Cancer sucks, or so I hear. And he did make all of those things. One even had a name.
