Mmm, hate.

I say let the tournament finish up. Even if it is going steadily downhill, having people wade and go through the s**t they have gone through to get to the point they are currently at within tournament standings only to have it close down is a kick in the head to say the least, or so I think. I wouldn't want to, for sake of example have to run through people like Ertai/Tacitus/Gelmax/Viper/Vahn/Otherpeoplewithtoughcharacters in an attempt to win this thing only to have it close down on the home-stretch, share of gold or not.

Buh'yeah, my two cents. But I'm not competing anymore so I don't think my two cents actually count for s**t. xd

And I don't think anyone here really believes that the 'best' are advancing through the rounds, considering the vast majority of wins come from either time out or technical DQ.

As much as I don't want to embrace it, because I don't want the winner's "moment of glory" to be bittersweet, QFT.

My whole idea about the skilled people beating the god characters, and my whole idea behind this tournament altogether...just didn't need to be an idea in the first place.

But we can instate some tougher rulez. Stricter time limits, max. posts per match and total time allowed (so we don't get 13-page fights that never end), resubmission of profiles for those still here that get saved and then a dampening on power lvlz? Or it can just keep going as is. Or we can distribute the Gold after these next rounds conclude. I dunno. Whatever everybody wants.

Edit: But I'm all for keeping it going, with or without changes. I owe it to the people who still want to fight.

My opinion's been given. Keep going, ignore the negativisms, maybe become a little more strict on rulings but don't impose a "page limit" [though, if a match looks to be winding on forever without injury, than a warning would be in order, perhaps]- etc.

I will say, however: If any changes are made to the rules, please, don't make this into a pseudo-bastardized HoH wanna-be. That'd almost be as bad as shutting it down, though not quite as much. =P

In my current match, my character's gotten quite powerful in his own means. Yet in prior bouts here, I've managed to stave off a dragon-imp who was just an inch below moving faster than my character's eye could perceive, with nothing more than an iron blade. Literally it. Whining about 'powers' and 'Gods' are useless, for I've seen so many 'Gods' in this tournament die or fade into obscurity, that complaining over fairness is ridiculous on the subject.

[Jello]: Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what you, and everyone else that's helped run this, have done. And it sounds like you'll still be helping out in your own methods; Like Hell- I doubt this would still exist as it is, were it not for you, despite your current discontent with GTB. However, I'm not going to sugar coat it or try to kiss a**: I've already given my opinions on how you pride HoH a thousand times over GTB, and in the end, I'm sure you'd agree. And that's fine.

I just don't like hearing the "this is a suky ternament lalwlz only a few peeps intrsted" bull crap get strung around on a daily basis. This tournament's only as dead as the contestants & those participating in it allow the damned thing to be, and problems with matches can always be addressed on an individual basis. I've been here since.. what, early last Summer? Much as I dislike or dunno' some of you bastards around here, I've gotten to know some people I probably wouldnt've otherwise, and actually got back into roleplaying period, after a rather long absence from it. So for that especially, I can't thank GTB's existence enough.

But~ Just being given gold and being shoo'd off would sit bitter with me. Granted, when I first saw GTB, I thought, "..Holy s**t, that's a lotta gold. Hn. Wonder if I could win this.." But? If it'd just been gold, I wouldnt've joined this thing. I saw a potentially entertaining roleplay area, and sure enough was rewarded.

So we've had assholes argue constantly [myself included. domokun ] in the OOC. So we've had, literally, "Gods" competing in the matches. And so we've had 'power shifts' and general decline in the tournament's activity; this place is still what it is, GTB. And I wanna roleplay here dammit. And there's others that do too - Hell, friend of mine, Nightbringer [You may remember a "Shilon" roleplaying as this character. It was a temporary matter while my friend Julian or "Nightbringer" was on vacation and couldn't access the internet, but.. Shilon.. timed out with the character. :Toad:] - EVEN THOUGH he never actually got to participate in this place himself.. wants to shake off a little rust at the arena with meh' sometime. =P

Everyone here: We really can make this place work, and keep working. And judging by the OOC, I'm not the only one who wouldn't be content with a little gold being tossed at us and being turned away; and I'm glad, Clash, you're wanting to keep this place going.

Putting it bluntly: This place disappearing so quickly would be a travesty. ninja

Maaaann.. Hats off; I'm in a Hell of a situation. XD; Now I have to contemplate whether salvaging the moment occurring in the match is possible or no, so a post may take a bit.

[Edit]: Nn, I see just one spot where my character can continue on. But, since given the conditions in the match, [not to mention that he feels no ill-will towards Lazenca,] his 'third state' will not be present this round and will remain unused. Whether what occurs next gets me by or no though, is all on fate & how things progress.

Figured I'd give a last intermission image in the match, though. domokun

[Monseiru]: Posted. I'd say, our match will go on a few more posts, if into the next page. Again: damned well good, iiiiif I get copped out here - at least my last shot was a fun one. domokun But, we'll have to wait and see on that for the both of us.

Omi, I'm inclined to agree with your posts on your thoughts about the GTB. I honestly couldn't care less about the gold. It's not like I have anything I even wanna get with it. I just like coming here because...well...to put it bluntly, every other place seems too n00bish, plus it's extreeeemely hard to find good RPs these days with people that actually know how to fight. I just come here for the fighting and roleplaying, and even when the final winner is chosen, I really don't want to see this thing close down. I won't have anywhere else to go and be able to pick a spar with someone that actually knows what they're doing.
Egh...not sure what can be done about it though.

And now in all triviality, am I the only girl actually left in the matches? O.o

i don't know if it changes anything in your post, but anytime i write entire sentences in italic, it signifies thought. italics and quotations show things a mindreader could pick up because a quick as thought is, it's a fleshed out thought. italics with no quotations show quick fleeting thoughts, exact words of which a mind reader couldn't pick up. just a wordy manifestaton of emotion, rather than real thoughts.

.. I'll admit.. until and even during GTB, on the rare occasion when I browse Barton, let's say - the things I'm greeted with frighten the living Hell out of me.

WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I DO THIS! http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20376939&page=5

I think, personally, the future of this tournament'll end up a good one, though. domokun Hell, if I get knocked out in this match, I'll still spectate & roleplay here. No reason why I shouldn't.

And ehr.. [Pause.] .. You know? I think you are. XD;

[Yay double post.]

Iiii see. o.o I apologize than, I actually put thoughts in italics myself; but since I didn't see anything next to or before the text stating it was thought, I kinda assumed it was spoken. XP;;

Doesn't change anything that occurred in the post, other than that last line stating that he couldn't hear the last word 'spoken'.

despite your current discontent with GTB.

Discontent? Nah... I'm just sick of people complaining. They complain when you do it right, they complain when they do it wrong, and they complain when there isn't even a problem. And, of course, they blame the person in charge because an objective decision based upon an almost harshly strict devotion to the rules as-understood (not as-written, as that provides loopholes) means that I hate them.

And the moment they make that connection it becomes true. I hate them when they bring up my personal feelings towards them as a defense against them being a dumbass. That is when they cross the line between annoying and backhanded.

And it's happened far too often. Every time a fight ends that isn't from Time Out, and sometimes when it DOES end from Time Out.

You said you saw GTB and thought "wow, that's a lot of money"... I saw GTB and thought "wow, that's a disaster waiting to happen". Which is why I tried to help, and why I entered... not to win, not to even rank up there, but just so that hopefully I could be a positive influence.

I don't care if you hate HoH, that's your prerogative. I like it because it works, because the rules cover nearly everything and we have a set time limit for the fights to end so that they don't drag on forever like Genshin vs. Kawaii still going on after... ...when did that start? July?

Hate that if you want, it's not making me think any differently about GTB. Taking care of this has been a chore, and while it was one I gladly did because it meant that all of you could continue to get at least some sort of enjoyment out of this, it was a chore nonetheless.

And I think Fish said it best a while back: "Doesn't it seem wrong that the hierarchy of fights ending seems to go timeout > dq > forfeit > ko?"

Text. Why do I include these quotes, you may ask? Because sometimes, it's better than [themightyjello]:. For serious.

There's elements of that I agree with. There's elements of that I don't. But, we both have different personalities & views; and like I said, I do thank you for doing what you've done.

However, if I can make a few contradictions:
-I said I saw a lot of money, but that was second-place to my initial interest in GTB.
-I don't -hate- HoH. It's just not my cup'o'tea.
-I agree that matches should end if dragged on pointlessly, but if it has any kind of purpose to continue - it should. Still.
-Sadly, that hiarchy proves true merely because of apathy on participant's parts. My official matches thus far, have had a disqualification - though that was a more stragetically forced one - and a timeout. This match I'm in now ends in a KO, regardless of whom will be the KO'd.. -ee. But, I've seen some matches here where people'd probably go on forever until one gets bored and just leaves without a word. And yeah, it's annoying. Hell, it's damned annoying. But it's part of the bad mixed with the good. I see more good in GTB than negative. You seem to [maybe not, I'm just pointing it out] see more negative than positive in this tournament. Then you can basically flip said opinions for HoH. No big deal.

If it's any consolation, though I doubt it [probably more along the lines of annoying,] you've had to deal in your management of GTB, complete whining & bitching. Rule breaking. Idiocy. Constant timeouts.

In a different boat, I as a community administrator & a guy who's helped with several larger communities before as staff, have had to deal with everything from whining & bitching, to a member trying to rape other users through private roleplay. And not so private. And there's worse. Much worse.

Management is always a chore. But, if you care for what you're managing, it's a chore that brings more joy than apathy. Or brings a joy you pride over the nauseating issues involved. If that's not how you feel about GTB, I'd think everyone here's fine with that. Just, don't completely shun or toss aside the prospects of GTB, either. domokun
