Tenko slapped his check just hard enough to wake himself up. He wasn't going to pass out now. Today had been his first day at the academy but so much has already happened. He smiled as he took a deep breath. It nearly made him yawn once more before he could stifle it once more. He closed his eyes and then snapped them open and began to read. It talked about controlling ones Chakra was vital. It even spoke of people who used six puppets at once. SIX! His eyes were almost nearly as big as saucers. He could just imagine all he could do with six. If he even was able to use three he would be more than happy. His excitement bubbled up as he noticed it was the end of the reading section like part. He was finally able to actually learn it now. Kugutsu no Jutsu (Puppet Technique) Stage I: Puppet Play DC 15 Familiarisation with the art of puppetry. Stage II: Chakra Control DC 20 Combining puppetry with the usage of chakra strings, which are stronger, but less flexible until high control is achieved.
Roll 13+15= 28 DC: 25 10/10 stage I complete.

Tenko wondered how he should exactly do it. He put his puppet on the stump and sat it up. He took a deep breath as he unrolled more of the scroll. 'First to attach the strings...' He focused his chakra into his hand. They began to glow a light blue color before flickering out. He blinked at it as if his hand grown a mirror. He was usually very good at stuff like this. He thought this was going to be the easiest as well as the funnest part. He had obviously been wrong. He didn't want to admit it at all but he was definitely having a difficult time with it. He wasn't mad or angry. He was just merely disappointed with himself. If he couldn't even make simple strings how was he going to master this jutsu?
'With a lot of training.' he thought to himself. He was trying to relax the best he could but pressure boiled over the edge. He closed his eyes and felt his chakra move to his hand and slightly up to his fingers before cutting off. His shoulders slumped as he stared at the stump. He had to move it before he could move a fully sized adult puppet. That was going to be his big challenge he thought to himself. He felt his body grow tired, only by a little. He was still able to sit up straight and focus without yawning. He had to get this jutsu. He was going to get it. 'I AM going to get this. I swear I will.' He took a measured breath not to sound too much like a sigh, even though he wanted to.
Roll 3,2+12= 15, 14 DC: 22 0/10

Tenko felt a surge of anger through him. 'This time I WILL make it work!' He closed his eyes as his chakra surged through the fastest route to his finger tips. He flexed all his fingers straight as if to start to play the piano. The threads felt out and searched for the little puppet's body. Slowly they laid themselves onto the puppet as it went ridged. He looked at the chakra strings and how tight they were. He thought they would have at least some slack. He moved one of his fingers slowly as the arm of the puppet started to bend at where the elbow would be. He smiled happily as he watched. He didn't know why he was so happy but he was.
He slowly worked the puppet numbly. He wasn't used to any of it. He made the puppet get up and stand on its feet in an inhuman way, buckled at the legs, then the hips the his back. It was a little harder than he thought but nothing too bad. He mostly focused on keeping the chakra strings attached to puppet. He slowly made the puppet bow. He used both hand. One hand controlled each half of the puppet on a vertical axis. His smile faltered, while during the bow, the puppet staggered to keep upright from falling flat on its little face. He held on tightly as his fingers slowly began to loosen. The puppet felt the slack in the line as its limbs sagged slightly. He wondered if there was something more to it. All he knew was that he had to keep practicing;

Tenko felt the chakra strings slack then tighten. He didn't have perfect control over it yet. He started to move one of the legs then the other. He made it walk a little less rigidly but it still looked more like a robot than human like movement. He took a deep breath and focused. The threads surged. It tightened then loosened. He didn't know why it kept doing that. It must be him. 'I will master it and I will beat Karasu... I have to show him. I have to prove I'm not such a weakling that he has to hold back against me.' He smiled at the thought of Karasu's face shocked as he held the puppet in front of him. It might look like a toy to the other child. Just something a little nine year old would bring cause he missed his mommy and daddy.... Not this time. He'd show him. It was no toy. 'Now I just need to focus and make it.'
His concentration slipped as the threads tightened to the point of snapping then slacked and fell off as they vanished from his finger tips. ' B- B- B-... I had it ..." He sighed and scrubbed a hand through his hair. He wiped sweat from his forehead he had never noticed was even there. He must be trying hard than he thought to control it and here he was thinking about stupid things... He felt slightly ashamed of himself then he became embarrassed cause he forgot Tenshi was there. He turned to look at the other boy. "Tenshi... Why ARE you here? You're a genin aren't you? I thought you guys go on missions and stuff and escort people that are visiting." He was making progress alright...now there was no denying it. He pushed the frequency further, his face scrunching up slightly. This was nothing compared to the frequency he'd have to bare from the Minor Vibration technique... he had to keep going. Unless he had misunderstood the scroll, even if he managed to become that much stronger, the level of endurance he was hoping for, he would still only be able to be giving himself an even chance against the frequency, and even THEN he'd still not be able to use the technique it's full extent...at least, not with his his current level of Ninjutsu skill, even his Chakra Control, something he was reasonably proud of, would have to be increased in order to cope the final stage to completely master the technique. Even so... it all seemed so in reach now... it all seemed possible. He was on his way... he was close to breaking free of the chains of inability...it was only a matter of enduring just a little longer... a little longer...

How long had he been at this now he had to wonder. This was no laughing matter. He supposed that cut off from time and forced to so intently fight through the constant stress on his body was trial enough for anyone, but the worst thing to him was the not knowing... not knowing if he had truly been at this for a long time, or if it was just his imagination. Not knowing if he was truly doing something incredible or if...
But no, he could feel his progress. The only thing that he could do now was trust in his senses, and judgement. He had to believe that he was capapble of this and that he WAS succeeding. Even if he felt he had a long way to go yet, he still had to believe that he WOULD cover that distance. That he would not fail or fall to his limitations now.

His stance had widened since he originally began the exercise, his frame now looking as though he he was in the middle of focusing all his chakra into a single act, the constant vibration now echoed by a soft subtle glow coming from the edges of his silhouette. This was what it felt like to test the dges of one's potential... to throw one's all into a single act and catch a glimpse of the truth of their power. Byakuran's hands were slapped together now, his muscles compacted on his slim figure as his sensory system continued it's self imposed barrage against the muscles themselves, the act still difficult to maintain even if he knew that he was nowhere near the end of this struggle... But that was fine. Suffering he could deal with. Failure would bring with it an even greater pain...and he would suffering far more then this to avoid it...

He wondered just how much he was truly learning from this. This act seemed to a be a trial he'd never known the like of in all his life. He'd been working all these years at the academy but for what? What had he truly achieved? Mediocre skills as a Genin? Was THAT what he wanted? No... this...this was what he wanted. To excel, to grow, to be something more. This trial was more then just becoming stronger, it was even more than overcoming the impossible. It was an awakening...a transformation of who he was and what he was willing to do to achieve his ends.... what he was willing to put himself through to attain the status and ability that he so craved. When he said this was first step in his life as a shinobi, he was forced to realize that no... it was first step he'd taken in his life.all his life he'd been carted about by others, drifting about taking orders, content to ponder away his days...

But now, now he was going to walk on his own, walk his own path... the image of his vision, the image of him standing on a cliff looking out over the wide world... yes... his station as the fool, his place as a young man at the start of a long epic journey...he'd originally thought that he'd been at the stage of the chariot, ignoring the stage of "the lovers", but no...now he realized that he was still merely the fool, only just now setting out on his journey, his eyes having taken him farther than his feet as he stared out at the wide world... so yes. Yes this was an awakening, the first step in his journey... the journey that would take him down the road of the Arcana, the secrets of the world, and of life. He would take this step then... he would take his step and conquer that road... he would take charge of his own destiny...and at last be the captain of his own soul...

It was said that a wise man, having lived a long a fruitful life, looked to all those around his bedside upon his death bed. He told them to take charge of everything that they had done, and to never blame others for your actions. A King may move a man. A father claim a son. But remember that even when those who move you be kings... or, men of power, your soul is in your keeping alone. when you stand before your final judgement you cannot say "but I was told by others to do thus..." for this will not suffice.
Byakuran knew this now, more then ever, to be true. and even more so, he know fully understood the wisdom of those words... as well as what it was like to be moved about like a mere piece on the board. For indeed...what else was he? To his clan and even to Kiri, he was nothing more then pawn. But no longer... he would only serve himself from now on...even if he made them think otherwise. he would play their games... but he would play them by his rules... and soon...

Byakuran chuckled, even amidst his training, his face turning upwards into a small smile. There was a favorite musical piece of his...one which always managed to bring out the fire in him. The Battlefield flower... especially when played upon the violin... it always managed to inspire him...to push him forward... he laughed slightly, wishing that he'd had the ability to learn the Inclination first, so as perhaps to be able to replicate it while he was doing this, it would even be a rather effective way to keep time, but alas, he was not yet so gifted. Still... he suspected that perhaps the day when he could do that was not too far off... he gave a small smirk. Now that he thought about it, he wished that his skills as a musician could also be as advanced as he wished. If there was one thing which managed to clear his mind, calm him even more then Chakra meditation...it was music...

The twisting rhythms, the churning notes, the positive myriad of sound that came from every song, every piece, to someone with his particular Kekke genkai it was heaven, the only thing he could use to describe it when he heard a truly excellent piece play, the only way he could translate it into the more mundane sense of sight, was like a billion rainbows crossing the sky. A Thousand colors colors in every direction, a beauty unparalleled in the natural world... Otobe always made fine musicians. It was a part of who they were. So much so that it led to the another aspect of his clan's culture that he COULD, at least, understand and accept. Their reverance of music.

He himself wasn't bad, but he was nothing compared to some of the masters he could still vaguely recall from his childhood. True full fledged genius's enhanced by their talents as members of the clan. Hearing them was something that stuck out more to him about his childhood then any memories of his father or mother. In the moments he spent in torment, suffering from the second self's chaotic discord, it was a rare light of hope to, in the distance, hear the melodies of the clan through all the pain. If asked what he truly thought his clan, if their was truly one thing about them that he loved, that was always the first and almost only thing that came to his mind. Yes... their ability and affinity for music was a redeeming feature in them...but... it wasn't enough to appease him completely... But then...only one thing would...

The program which instilled the loyalty to the clan in the children, imprinted all the ideals and morals of the clan into their children, had not entirely fallen on deaf ears in his case. Indeed, he still shared many aspects of it. The drive for power, the respect for power, the reverence of music, the belief that the weak were so by choice, and that the strong had no obligation to them... but the lesson that hadn't stuck, the lesson that truly was the first step towards his "fall", had been the day that all of the recently awakened Otobe, those young children who'd at last mastered their second selves, were gathered for the next lesson, and the first thing out of the the elders mouth had been...
The Clan...is everything.
It had immediately struck a cord in the then very young Byakuran, even as the elder had gone on. The life of one is nothing to the life of the clan, always work for the clan and not for the self. Sacrifice is noble and welcome if it is for the clan...

The more he spoke the more against these words Byakuran became. All for the clan? If they were gods, if HE was a god, then why should he have to pander to his peers? Why should he have to sacrifice himself and his priorities all for the sake of other gods, who were no better then he? He refused, to allow himself to merely be another cog in the clan's ever turning wheels... it was NOT the destiny that was intended for HIM.
And so he'd become a problem child. The truth was that Byakuran had not cast away the Otobe's many zealot ideals because he was somehow more moral or insightful into the truth of things... at least not at first. His path had begun, his road separated from his cousins...because he was selfish. That, and nothing more. Certainly as he grew there were many other reasons as wisdom and the words of enlightened men sang to him through writings and books, but at the start...it had only been because the idea of sacrificing himself and his will for others was inherently detestable to him...
There were so many levels of irony there...
