Quote: The only exception is firing weapons (and using psychic powers and abilities that replace firing a weapon) from one of the vehicle’s Fire Point or from an open-topped transport. Do either of those powers replace shooting?

Alright, STORY TIME!
So, this past wednesday, I went to my nearest GW with my 3/4 build tau army ((Still haven't gotten my other 12 battle suits and farsight. I got no moneh!)). It's 13 weeks of war, so this week was 1 HQ, 2 squads, and 1 elite. No points, so we added transports. I only have 2, so I put those on there. I'll tell you, those saved me over a half a dozen times during that game!
Anyways, I was teamed up with space wolves against 2 Chaos players, one being my friend. The space marine player lost 5 men total and I lost 3. I was in range. Dang, I love Tau and their superior ranged abilities! xd heart We had a crushing victory... I whiped out my opponents first 3 lines of Khorne berserkers ((15 out of 20)) in the first turn, then my devil fish' blasted away with their smart missles and burst cannons on his normal chaos marines, kill a good quarter of that squad. Well, there goes a whole squad and he hasn't even returned fire yet. wink
The rest of the game was pretty much seek-and-destroy. mrgreen

Babbalui My 24 Fire warriors with marker lights tore them to pieces. mrgreen Only 24? I'm shocked razz You need the maximum quota of 72, its what i use. Most of the vets hate my army due to the stupid amount of pinning and leadership tests they have to take thanks to 3 teams of sniper drones being in the army too!

You know most tourney builds for Tau have only minimum Fire Warriors right? 6-12? Fire Warriors are just too vulnerable to assault to invest massive points into. I use 24 myself, but that's just because I feel a little dirty if I min/max and take less. I'm surprised so many people hate the Ld checks more than having thier tanks and troops blown apart by Broadsides/Hammerheads.

possibly depends on metagame... chaos fears no pinning, and so do Nids, and (in numbers) Orks... IG doesn't care about infantry, so railguns are their main worry. Marines mainly hate ap1-3 things, power armor stops most of pulse rifle/carbine fire, and hgh ld protects from pining (unless lot of ml hits devoted to lowering ld)

The Warhammer Extreme game only allows 2 troops units, one HQ, and one Elite. You can't have 72 fire warriors. Plus, I only have about 45 actualy firewarriors. I need a few more to finish the 4 troop units.

Alright, once again, I pwned at GW. I used the same thing as last week plus a heavy squad of Broadsides. The enemy was Eldar and Orks and I was allied with Chaos. Don't ask why we chose the alliances like that, but it was fun anyways. I blasted the hell out of anything that posed a threat and my ally ripped the orks apart in close combat. His one squad of khorne berserkers beat back three different squads at the same time and he only lost 3 men as opposed to the enemy losses = about 12 men.
I lost only two men, took 2 wounds on my elite battle suits, and lost a weapon on one of my devilfish'. It was no competition. I blasted 3 tanks in the first turn: Eldar lost a tank, orks lost a transport and his one tanks was shooken, and my ally immobilized the Eldar transport. The avatar had 4 different units that I don't know about, but I fired my HQ, both of my devilfish', and one full squad of fire warriors into them until everything including the avatar was dead! twisted
Like I said, "No competition."

Well you did cancel out each others weakness with Tau being godly in Long Range and Chaos being pretty good in Close Combat. So I am not suprised that you wiped the floor with your opponents.

Oh, yeah, I FINALLY read the introduction in the front of the codex. Ugh, it wasn't even long, but I neglected to read it until recently. It was actually pretty interesting, how it involved dealings with the imperium and how it incorporated imperial guard into it's ranks. 3nodding
