Daemon_King Ah, so that's whats going on, but I never heard of this Codex: Daemons. Is it basically now that things like Bloodletters, Plaguebears, Horrors, Daemonettes, etc. are fielded like a normal squad is as it's own army, or are they still summoned like always buy a squad. I'm kinda confused now that you brought up this, can you tell me more? Actually, that's all Iknow for now. It was mentioned in this months white dwarf, don't know if you read it. I think that they are going to be bringing back rules for all mounted daemons, along with daemonic beast, lesser daemons, greater daemons etc, but i haven't heard that much about te subject.

I'm kinda disappointed with the release of the new Chaos Space marine Codex.. I would've wanted to do a Tzeentch themed army but now it'll -have- to be a Tzeentch Chaos Marine army.. which in my opinion kinda sucks if you can't have the Tzeentch demons to go with.. Everything has become so much more generic too.. Greater and Lesser demons are just.. generic.. their stats are.. dull.. And now an army can apparently have all types of Marines (ie. Khorne Berserkers can be with Thousand Sons, as well as Plague Marines, and Noise Marines - and are not Elites even if the Lord doesn't have a Mark!)
So yeah.. I don't mean this to be a rant, but I'm a bit saddened by the change, it's really killed a lot of the God armies, and the Legions too.. It's given players WAY too much freedom to do what they want, and take what they want.. apart from the thing that some players want.. Marines WITH good demons (and not just tings called demons)
It won't stop me from getting a Thousand Sons army, but I am seriously disappointed that I won't be able to have demons with it crying

My Thousand Sons army is going to get shelved until the new codex comes out, so I don't buy anything that I won't be able to field. And I just got some screamers and a Lord of Change for the army...

dcikfyurt In the new codex you have to buy your icons for the squad, kind of like a banner in Warhammer Fantasy. This banner then acts as a focus for summoning daemons, acts as a teleport homer, and gives the squad a buff in the same way as the current marks (Slaanesh is now +1 I rather than -1 to opponents I). These icon can be given to any unit (Yes you can have nurgle bikes with bonus T). While the bike thing is fine, I'm still upset at what Warpscream has been changed to. -1 to your enemy was, and still is, much, MUCH better then +1 to your own. Simo-Power Fists, Always going first in Cover, etc. Quote: Marks are now only available to HQ choices and cult marines. Wait, so, for you to have marked bikers, you need to have a model of a Biker with an Icon? BRILLIANT! Because everyone knows Chaos runs around with banners EVERYWHERE to show their allegience. Quote: Daemons aren't becoming undivided, they're becoming generic for CSM. This does mean that you can field a rat daemons (Verminlord/Skaven) or a unit of daemons bound in machines for Iron Warriors (Necron models), or insect daemons, or undead raised by the power of chaos, the list goes on. And unless playing with friends, or working with fine conversions... GW probably won't let you use them in their stores. Quote: The rumours seem undecided as to whether Codex: Daemons will be be able to ally with Codex:CSM like their Warhammer Fantasy counterparts. I hope they do So I can bring my furies back, But I'm not going to mourn their loss too much if I can't. They've had a good run and have served me well. They better be able to ally, or the Cultist-Heavy Alpha Legion armies got punted in the jewels, along with Flesh Hounds / Screamers / Furies. They better bring some variance back to Legions, though. Dark Angels, MAJOR difference then Ultramarines. Whole new Codex. Thousand Sons and World Eaters? Meh, they're similar enough, chuck 'em in the same codex! (Also, WTF happened to Thousand Sons being all Sorcerors or bodiless suits of armor? Now it's just Bodiless Suits of armor... and guys who have Daemonic Aura.)

Drachyench_The_Eternal While the bike thing is fine, I'm still upset at what Warpscream has been changed to. -1 to your enemy was, and still is, much, MUCH better then +1 to your own. Simo-Power Fists, Always going first in Cover, etc. It only worked on models attacking model with it! For example, a unit of undivided marines is charged by an enemy, out pops a Keeper of Secrets. The enemy decided to concentrate their attacks on the CSM. They don't suffer the -1 to their initiative (had that clarified by a tournament player0. +1 better in most situations, but doesn't apply to units charging through cover (like warpscream). Drachyench_The_Eternal Wait, so, for you to have marked bikers, you need to have a model of a Biker with an Icon? BRILLIANT! Because everyone knows Chaos runs around with banners EVERYWHERE to show their allegience. All my bikers have banner poles, just stick one behind the seat. It looks cool, try a wfb banner on its side. And icons don't have to be banners. My units all have an icon bearer that has a chunk of warpstone on their backpack. Drachyench_The_Eternal And unless playing with friends, or working with fine conversions... GW probably won't let you use them in their stores. As long as they are GW models, GW can't do a thing to stop you. You are allowed to represent generic daemons how you wish, their are no models for them. Drachyench_The_Eternal They better be able to ally, or the Cultist-Heavy Alpha Legion armies got punted in the jewels, along with Flesh Hounds / Screamers / Furies. I hope they will, or you'll get the "My Fantasy chaos armies can ally, why can't they in 40K?" letters burying GW head office. Besides, It kinda makes sense, and JJ was hinting at it in this months White Dwarf. Drachyench_The_Eternal They better bring some variance back to Legions, though. Now it's just Bodiless Suits of armor... and guys who have Daemonic Aura.) I think legions will end up getting the same treatment they got in the current codex, a page of fluff and some units will be moved around (Raptors to troops for Nightlords for example). However, this is purely speculation, I'm NOT a GW employee.

From what you're saying then (which makes a lotta sense smile ) we're best waiting till the Demon Codex comes out before even expecting to see anything about alliance with the demons and such?
Maybe they might put the rules about which Legions/armies can use which types of demons in that Codex rather than doing it in a seperate one? Who knows..
All we can do is wait, search for updates, and cross our fingers for something decent to happen smile

It's still worth playing chaos for now. I've read the new codex (in my local GW store) and it is still very playable. I've already got my New 1500pt army list written.
But yeah, see if you can have a read of this months White Dwarf. Jervis does state that they are doing Chaos as two separate codices.

The Chaos to me, well their purpose in the war is understandable but their methods of fighting are just outrageous. Further more i would build up a 2,500pt army just so i have something by them but im still going to be with the blood angels and IMP Huard threw and threw.

However, this is purely speculation, I'm NOT a GW employee. Speculation that isn't true. Got people on a different forum that have read the new codex. Those legions are not addressed. They just "Poofed". Which reminds me, the Blastmasters (Upgraded to AP3 in the new Codex) have been raised in cost to 40 FRIKKIN POINTS EACH!
