Telith I've been playing for 5 years now, and I own three. Only two work. Haven't figured out what to do with the crappy china made instrument that no one can fix. Don't have the time between marching and tech and breathing to think of something artistic to do with the damn thing. If anyone has any ideas go ahead and PM me. Anyway. Junior in highschool, we have a marching band but we don't compete, something about being marching musicians instead of a marching band. I'm in symphonic band and wind ensemble, The top bands at school, and for once in the school's existance with any band, we're short on clarients. Too many percussionists, but only eighteen lonely clarinets...makes me sad. My band only has 4 purcussionists and 5 clarinets, and one bass clarinet haha. I don't know about the other bands though.

I play clarinet.
I've played for about... 4 years.
And I'm currently first chair! Yay!
But that's not much of an accomplishment, since most of the Clarinets are sucky. D=

HI! I'm a freshman at eastern michigan university!! I've been in marching band since freshman year of high school and I've been playing since 5th grade..
AND CLARINET IS THE BEST INSTRUMENT EVER! ^.^
ps: i know emu's football team never wins, but our band is really really good, so come hear us play sometime!

Hi! I'm new to this guild!
I'm 3rd chair clarinet in the school band, I've been playing for three years. I'm 7th chair in All-District. I'm just glad I made it...last year I didn't...*tear*
My boyfriend's 1st chair trumpet in school band and All-District. ^^ I just had to brag. heart

Hi i's Nate
i'm currently a senior at Suffield High School in CT
I have been playing and had the same clarinet for 8 years, self taught
i am in band oand forced to be in a marching band(our school makes it manditory for you to be in marching)
for the past two years I have been playing first parts in music(we dont really have chairs) and yes I am a guy and play it, I know there is many guy players out there but in my school clarinets have been profiled as a "girls" instroment, pshaa to them, Benny Goodman is one of the best players in history so dont generalize
and i hate fugue's, mainly Yanky Doodle on Fugue, I hate fugue's

Hi, I'm new to the guild. I've been playing for 3 yrs. now. I started in 6th Grade, and now I'm a Freshmen at East High. Our high school's new, like they're still finishing the auditorium, so there's only freshmen and sophmores, and the occasional freshmore. I'm first chair in concert band. We didn't have chairs during marching season, since it was like, "How many of you have marched before? Three, okay, it's a start..." That's out of 30 people.
There are 2 sophmores and 4 freshmen in our section. I beat out both sophmores and got a solo. All I have to say about the solo is that I performed it last night infront of the band, choir, and orchestra, and, added bonus, all of their parents also. I've gotten quite a few compliments on it, but I think I did horrible. My band director didn't say anything about it in class today, so that means I didn't totally screw up, but I didn't do as well as he would have liked.
Yeah, I'll shut up about that now.
I tried out for Districts, but didn't make it this year. I made it last year and got 13 of 16 chairs. What does that say about our school's talent...?
Ok, I'm done ranting. Meanwhile, I'm slowly cracking under the pressure of finals. We have to take a band final. We have to know the composers of the songs that we've played this year (all 8 of them). At least I have until Friday for that one.
One last thing, I started playing alto sax last year when I found out the high school jazz band will only take, and I quote, "traditonal jazz instruments". Whatever.

Hey everyone I have been playing clarinet for 3 years and I am in the middle of my 4th. I am in my school's concert band which are grades 7-12. We get to go to festivals out of state yay!
At all the festivals my school band has gone to so far we have either won a trophy or a plaque. The trophies was cooler than the plaques though mrgreen
I'm not in any impressive chair. I'm 10th chair out of 12 redface But I've been improving so I am going to beat the people in front of me in a challenge to move up in chairs. Our band recently had a winter concert and I nailed most of the pieces so I was very happy about that.
Next year I am also going to try out for district honor band (I wasn't ready to this year)
Okay I'm done.

Which is surprising because [most of] the people under me are much better players than I am. [And actually practice XD]

Hello.
I've been playing since grade Six. [Currently in Grade Ten.]
I was in District Honors band this year.
One out of Nine. [Had to travel for an hour and a half every week.]
My band is REALLY small but, we have a lot of excellent players.
Thirteen people from what I remember.
I'm one out of three Clarinet players. -_-'
I'm usually first but, my band teacher is trying to get one of the other ones to play out.
I'm the best out of the three.
Lame, I know. xD
