Lilygwen Sindeira But I cannot grasp this li'l fun fact about igloos. Warm you say? No, there's no way.. really? It's all about insulation and how heat transfer from one substance to another. Snow and especially dense snow or ice is actually really good insulator. It keeps the cold weather outside and the room temperature is moderate. There's actually lots of ice hotels and bars. smile This is a truly intriguing concept, but I have one question. These ice hotels clearly don't have beds made out of ice, but what about the seating? *peers at a giant ice cube and squints a bit, as she tries to envision a LazyBoy recliner* May I have a warm cushion over here? Because my bum deserves to have a li'l love, too.

But there is bedding and cushions and stuff so you don't sit directly on the ice.

Camwen Also good wink I'm drinking my pot of tea while catching up with emails and such. I need to run out and do a bunch of errands but procrastinating can be fun. I know how you feel! I am a master procrastinator. Today is one of the days I actually don't need to go out for anything! Unless I want to. It will be nice to have an extra-lazy day, but I might feel guilty and go work out later.

Sindeira humble_gypsy_traveller Lilygwen Sindeira My~ where do you keep all of those winter clothes? 'cause you must be wearing layers upon layers of 'em. Well, with the cold weather you gradually get accustomed with it so it wont feel as bad if you would think. Of course I'm a big fan of sweaters and I like to dress warm, but when you get used with the cold you don't need as much clothes as you would think. xd I know it sounds crazy but it's true. We in the north feel the same way (Canada) especially when we're zooming around on our dog sleds. xd Believe it or not, igloos are quite warm too. rofl It's pleasant to know that a colder climate isn't nearly as harsh, as I had once believed. *actually considers a cruise to Alaska for the first time* But I cannot grasp this li'l fun fact about igloos. Warm you say? No, there's no way.. really? Yes, they're in fact warm because the ice packs that build the igloo are around 2ft thick and are equip with a small chimney so that the smoke from the small fire that warms the igloo can escape.

A small fire.. in an igloo. Right, this sounds like a great idea. So what keeps everything from melting around you? *feels as if she's on the planet Neptune, wondering how the weather's going to be over on Pluto*

I didn't know how strong they could be. Igloos do melt a little because of the heat inside them. But it's so cold outside that it keeps refreezing. It only melts for real when the temperature outside gets too high.
