She recognized that look even as she was reaching out to take hold of the key. Her husband was extremely upset and she was afraid he was on the verge of getting violent. Right now, his anger was divided between their oldest son and the elf Zykariel was abusing. Reaching out to cease his movements, she directed him towards the stairs. He knew better than this. "Zykariel, this is serious, not a game," she began, shifting the toddler in her arms. "Your father needs to know what they know about Malik so that he can be prepared. Why did you do this?"
He sighed and shook his head. "Neither of you trust my judgment, do you?"
"When it means you go running to our enemies and giving out information, no. Malik could call you a traitor for that. Do you realize that?"
"No, he couldn't. That's what none of you get. I protect what's mine! I did what had to be done and that's the end of that!"
Coming upon the room, she unlocked it and pushed him inside. "You stay right here and don't you dare talk to me in that tone or I will let your father have you." It took her a few minutes to get Kelligrin settled in the nursery for a nap before she came back and shut the door, glaring at her son. "I take it you mean your family by what's yours?" At the teen's nod, she crossed her arms and tapped her foot. "And did you forget that our family is in service to the D'vinn's? Your father has pledged the Intharas' loyalty to the D'vinn's, Zykariel. Loyalty that your father and I take very seriously. Any information you give to anyone you even suspect might be an enemy is traitorous. And under the laws of Lordship, Malik can kill you and there's not a damn thing we can do about it."
Zykariel's face took on a gray pallor and he sat down quickly on the large bed. "No."
"Yes. And furthermore, what about the D'vinn's? Malikhai is one of your best friends. If you gave out information to save us, what about him?"
"It wasn't like that! I didn't mean-"
She cut him off with an agitated swipe of her hand. "Tell me what you told them."
"Just that when Lloth died and most fled or were killed, Malik took what was left over. He has enemies but they aren't worrisome because Twilight is well-fortified. Mostly they're just disgruntled because he's all powerful and they don't like that. That's it."
"Nothing else?"
"No. They wanted to know how Dad's magic worked. I told them I couldn't help them with that. Then they wanted to know how to use their own internal magic. I was teaching Cerrillia."
Zahara's eyes closed at that and she took a breath. "Fine. You stay here." Thus, back downstairs to her husband, though she stayed in the side of the room and let him take care of other matters.

This was probably embarrassing now wasn't it? Oh why did they have to have company? "They're not all mean...it just seems that there's some bad things going on aroudn here. With Lord D'vinn not home and in touch with all of this, it all falls to Lord Inthara. And he doesn't take things lightly at all."
Still barking orders at staff, sending people on thier way to what he said. It was a matter of upping defenses and all that right now. Secure things before anything else. "Broog you can play with that all you want, just make sure it can talk with needed. Even if I have to pry the words out of mouth myself." Arms crossed, his attention moved back over to his wife. "Please tell me I don't have to go burn something to the ground."

She shook her head and watched him in his commanding role then studied him closely and sighed. She didn't want to talk to him in front of those he'd likely just terrified half to death, so she took his hand and pulled him into the library instead. So many memories... "Raven...I know you're upset," she began, lightly rubbing at his shoulders. "I don't know how much good burning things will do but you certainly need to watch out. They want your runic power is what it sounds like. Zykariel told them that Malik took what was left behind in order to build up his land and position and has enemies." Getting up, she closed the door the library, then propped her foot upon his thigh, slid her skirt to the side and magically healed the still bleeding gash on her thigh. "If he said anymore than that, I didn't pull it out of him. But I did impress upon him the danger of what he did." Then giving him a smile. "Why don't you get me some water with those magic fingers of yours?"

Upset was and understatement but he was compliant with her for the moment, merely to keep from screaming at her too. All the things that told him he was okay were screaming the opposite. For him, his family, and this place in general. It was not pleasant. "Which is all strategic information to one with a mind for such things." Oh great, that made it worse. His son could hate him all he wanted, but did he have to endanger others too? Though he didn't smile back to here, merely a move of fingers and a ball of water formed above his hand, as runics had pulled the moisture right out of the air. A snicker of distate. "Everyone wants these...I'm tempted to break my fingers."

Broog took the still silent Gizdean away, intent on getting information out of him in one manner or another. Broog's loyalty to Piper especially knew no limits. she was the first person to really take an interest in his shinies and want them made. so once in a room, Broog went to work on Gizdean.

She felt something inside of her clench for a moment before the sensation went away. "I'm aware of that and he is now, as well. He probably doesn't realize the complete impact of what he's done but I scared him by calling him a traitor at the very least. Reminding him that Malik has rights because of your pledge of service went a long way towards making him talk." Frowning as he stayed his pissy self, she sighed. "Sevilin, you know they can't get your runes so what are you worried about? Zykariel played it smart and told them he couldn't help them with that aspect of it, even though he knows the basics like all our children do. He was teaching one of them to harness her internal energy..." Taking that ball into her hand and rolling it over the newly closed gash, watching the ball streak with the blood that had been on her thigh. He wasn't even sneaking glances between her legs. "Do you still want to talk to him?"

"Because they don't know that now do they? Which means they keep at things." Yup Malik was not going to be happy about this...but he wasn't going to find out yet. Shaking his head, "He shouldn't be teaching anyone anything. Especially that. He needs to focus on that himself." She knew what he meant, after all Zykariel still had slip ups. But a shake of his head. "No. He's not going to listen to me. He's made that quite clear months ago. Just keep an eye on him."

"Yes, I think they do. That one thought if he got some of your blood, he'd learn it. Zykariel would have told them if only to discourage them from attempting to do it. He probably let more slip than he was thinking he did though. Like how that b*****d knew there were barriers around the house." She tossed the ball of water into a bowl that was sitting on a desk in the library and shrugged. "I want this thing between you two stopped. I don't care what has to happen."

"The lodge is fully willing to support us. they apparently are the reason as well for Gizdean's incursion. since learning of the runic defenses Malik D'vinn employs, and how it came to be, they have been willing to pay a great deal for samples of the flesh of him for necromantic study and hoping to extract the information needed to learn the magic."
Lianna gave a nod as she came back to the main room.
"The Spurned are less enthused. they see our request as a weakness that never should have occured. but they have offered a summoner for support."
Cerrilia was looking over documents. nothing important, just something to occupy her mind while she waited.
"Alright. tell them we'll have a portal established, and have them ready to send them through as soon as we call on them. Not before though. we don't want to potentially alert our could be enemy if they choose not to become so."
then a thinking look.
"How did the Lodge come by this information in the first place? D'vinn has not been in Neriak for decades."
Lianna gave a shrug.
"My only direct assumption would be that someone in Malik's House is feeding information in exchange for something or other. Or perhaps they have thier own informant here someplace. someone they pay to keep them updated."

Raise of an eyebrow at hsi wife. "And how do you expect me to do that without strapping the boy down and saying he'll listen, which we both know he won't anyway. I've tried with him, he merely wants to listen to himself and no one else. It's going to get him hurt one day and he doesn't even care." Shaking his head lightly. Another stressor here. "And don't think about contacting Piper about all of this, or Malik. Not yet at least. Need things secure and what not first. Just because he's gone, doesn't mean I don't know how to work his own battle fodder."

"Then strap the boy down and make him listen! I've told you before, Sevilin, you have to take charge with him. He used to look up to you because you were strong in his eyes and he admired you. Somewhere along the way, you've lost that. Maybe it's because he's a teenager and thinks he knows more than you or maybe it's because you've never shown him what you are truly capable of. He could have gotten us killed or far worse. Maybe you need to get truly angry with him for him to learn. Maybe you need to physically threaten him even if you don't follow through. And don't tell me you can't. You can, you just have to remember that you're doing it because you love him and we both know we can't handle losing him." She was quite taken aback by his order not to call Piper since it hadn't even entered her mind to do so. Then again, it probably would have before too much longer. "Are you going to let me fight?"

"Far as I am concerned there isn't going to be a fight. And you already know the answer to that anyway." Shaking his head though at her lecturing on Zykariel. She didn't know that he had tried more than once and in more than one way. The boy just didn't care anymore. "Sure, threaten to leave again so he'll behave I'm sure that will work wonders..." No, he didn't like to talk about this weird falling out where Zykariel pretty much wanted nothing to do with him. "But I'm not above treating him like a child if we wants to be treated as such because that's how he acts. Far as I'm concerned right now, he's not leaving this place, and if I do catch him out of here, he's going to regret it."

She scowled at him and crossed her arms with a huff. Sometimes being pregnant was such a bane. "If there is, you can hardly handle all of them by yourself. You won't have Malik and you won't have Piper. Let me help, even if it's only inside healing." She didn't much like the way he was giving up on Zykariel but she understood exasperation had its limits, too. "That's exactly what I'm talking about! You need to speak that way to him, Sevilin. He still thinks you're playing around. That this is one big misunderstanding or some kind of game to keep him from helping you."

"Fine, do inside healing." Because he wasn't going to win that argument and he knew that. "He always thinks that, no matter how much I yell at him. He's not stupid. Just defiant because he can be. Yes he used to look up to me. And he used to be terrified of you. To borrow a phrase from surface trash, things change. What is happening between him and I isn't just about this fiasco. It started way before then. I can tell him anything he wants to hear, and I doesn't matter. I've merely decided it's better to exist at what it is over trying and just failing a dozen times over." Which hurt for him to say, and she probably knew that too. But honestly he'd taken roads he knew and it wasn't working. And he didn't trust himself when it came to setting young elves on better paths somethimes.

She sighed, defeated once again. He talked the talk but couldn't walk the walk. She really couldn't either...which made it hard. Not because she wasn't willing to but because she physically couldn't. Anything she could do, he could evade, outmaneuver or overpower. He'd had the same basic runic training all of her children had, the same basic training she herself had had. She didn't use poisons and such on her own children and she couldn't physically match him. He was nearly as big as his father with more contending strength. Her husband was stronger than her son but her son was more volatile and would fight back where her husband wouldn't. He never used his full strength with her. Not even when he was subduing her for some reason. "You don't yell." She checked her thigh to make sure she'd gotten all the blood off and then shrugged. "Then I guess we'll just keep an eye on him and hope he doesn't do anything else that's really stupid. At least you crushed the linkstone so he can't get back in contact with her."
