Oh, also for what it's worth - things will get better. This will be a wake up call for people who decided they didn't want to vote because "there's no way" or people who voted out of protest. They'll realise that they do have a voice, and that it should be used.
I love each and every one of you. heart

Chrysant So democracy huh... I'm so sorry guys. I really am. I'd always - naively - looked at America of being a place where it was only the minority who were openly willing to support sexism, racism, etc and where hope would triumph over hate. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy a Harambe meme as much as the next guy... But why would people spoil their vote in what is easily the most important election? Serious question - has ANY president before had charges against them for sexual assault and fraud? What would happen if the cases went AGAINST him? So ashamed of America right now. I can only ask "WTF Pennsylvania??? Seriously? SERIOUSLY???!!" (I'm not pinning all this on PA, but GODDAMN! Did the perpetual roadwork fumes get to your brains?)
I was thinking of that same thing yesterday. The only person who came even remotely close was Nixon and Watergate. The only reason he resigned was because tapes released that SHOWED he was guilty. Even then, he was pardoned of all his crimes by his vice prez. As of right now, there is NOTHING that will stop Trump from becoming President because he is presumed innocent until a jury of his peers says otherwise.
I would NOT want to be on a jury that found him guilty enough for prison time! The death threats from the idiots who elected this MFer prez would have me in hiding in another country.

So let's hypothetically say that he was found guilty, and prison time required - would he still be the next president? I mean, the fact that he's been elected with the pending lawsuits is baffling to me already, but if even after being found guilty (for the particular things he's got cases against him for) he can still be seen by some as a viable option is... burning_eyes

Let it be known that Illinois was one of the few remaining blue states. sweatdrop And honestly that is only because Chicago.
We also voted for Tammy Duckworth for Senate, thank god. I'm sure you guys didn't follow the race but it was insane. Her opponent was very racist (openly) and ran SO MANY ADS just attacking her.
...she is a veteran who lost her legs in the Iraq War.
Also, I was curious how my county voted. We seemed to be right in the middle but ultimately went Trump. D: I am in the same county as Rockford.

As far away as that feels, we'll get our chance to try to make things better, and I can only hope that this fortifies people to fight harder next time.

I was so disappointed in several states during this election. There are states I totally expected to go red, there was no surprise there. crying But dang it, Pennsylvania...
It's a small comfort, but I am proud of Colorado. My own county went to Trump by a very small margin (29,745 for Trump vs 29,569 for Clinton) but at least my state didn't let me down.

If nothing else, there were some awesome, historic outcomes in the state and local elections.

We only have 6 basic channels which-- I primary use to watch Judge Judy-- and I had to stop watching because the ads were SO BAD. And just constant. I've never seen a politician attack another so extremely.

Even if people believed he could do a better job, if they're being harassed (visually, audibly) they'll just vote for the other person just because they're annoyed. (I looked her up quickly, but she seems to have a lot going for Illinois!)
I'm not surprised my county went to Trump. The locals HATE us Oneidas and there's a lot of racism here towards Natives.

I know you know exactly how it feels. sad heart It's been very disheatening seeing the racists, sexists, xenophobic people crawling out of the woodwork following this election, and the EU referendum. I mean, I know that not everyone who voted leave and not everyone who voted Trump is all of the above, but... The vocal ones man. It's crazy how some people act when they feel their beliefs are the majority. I'm sure you have all seen this, but I think that this is a really good watch, especially as someone from the outside.

The thing that bugs me the most about politics is that, no matter the country, it's always "them" vs "us". It's all very hostile, and it kinda upsets me that as a species we're still set in that way.
Like it's a bunch of fully grown adults (physically maybe not mentally) just making personal attacks against the other person rather than making any progress toward improving the situation.
Politics man...
