I've made my other 6 characters Totemas [sadly, I can only use five with the Judge in a battle. ;-;] - and had their base skill sets be the same as the actual Totemas, their side being advanced race classes such as Dragoon for Famfrit, Illusionist for Ultima, etc. And each of them have just lovely support skills, I.E. Reflex on non-Vierra-class characters, Turbo MP, Double Sword, etc..
Sorry to say: Were there the possibility, my party, no stat changes/boosts involved, would rape the living Hell out of your's. Resonance & ultima blows/self-summoning of themselves abound. KOO KAH! :Flex:
Though, Lini & Cid are badass. Toss Babus & Augie in there, while you're at it.

I thought Babus was pretty crap overall. I swap him for Pallanza or Cheney, mainly because they hit a lot goddamn harder. Then again hitting 900 damage with a ultimate attack is better than most characters regardless.
I haven't loaded up FFTA in a while though, should do that sometime. I stopped playing after doing all missions + bonus ones, and killing that last boss in one hit just to say I could.

i have so many hours on my FFTA game... (like... 300)
it makes me sick now to play it...
though my double masamune 500 (or whatever number it was) wielding ninja is fun, or the paladin with 8 move, and excalibur 2 and maxed out sequence, or my max's oathbow wielding assasins with ulitma masher were pretty fun...
to slaughter everyone with :/

I used to not care for Babus too much- but once, I made an entire party of No Mou's, all Sages, and made him my unofficial "Party Leader" - decked him out with everything good in terms of boosting magic attack..
... It was rape on a level you can't even conceive. If I had that party at the beginning of the game, I'd have every mission done in a few hours, bonus included. And on VisualBoyAdvance, if we wanna throw in the space bar "Fast Forward" feature so I could get past ol' plot scenes quicker, maybe.. -an- hour.
Though, their levels weren't too high.. I should make the Totema file characters get to their max levels, just for the sake of the random clans being tougher/having a very dismal chance of surviving.

[Zephyr]: I hear ya. I've just recently been playing it again, hence my screwing with the files; though once I have my Wii come this January..
On a non-modded file, I personally like to make my main character Thief, get the Steal Ability technique real early on [like, right when Clan wars start, you can do it pretty easily,] nab all of the Thief skills possible other than Thief Combo which I get later, then go for Ninja/Get Double Sword ASAP. All the while, Stealing whatever abilities of the Human race I want- and unlocking all Human classes.
High level Fighter with Double Sword & Steal Ability = FTW.
Then I usually put in Lini, Babus, Cid, a maxed Dragoon with a Templar secondary A-ability class, and Augie as a maxed Sage/White Mage with Turbo MP. It's hard not to rape when Augie's got ol' Giga Flare maxed real early in the game, but that party all in all just destroys.
... Wii. ;-;

haha...
yeah, it's fun to get the steal: weapon attack really early into the game and get all of the steal abilities and rare items early on
what's also fun is going into the battle tourney mission with moogles and humans with steal: exp
other guys hit you... they get like 40 exp
then you stun them and steal it back
easy exp XD
i don't have a visual boy advance though, i just play the legal version on the GBA XD
