Tenko was reading the lists of things he could make, or well learn to make, and smiled more. His smile began to fade as he became confused. He reread the past ten lines three times already. He didn't know what to do. Well he knew what to do but he had no idea what the scroll meant. It probably wasn't for nine year old's to try and read it. Let alone try to learn it. His smile slowly grew again even though he had no idea what he was reading. He was just thinking his own little things. Among the many were ideas of what to try and make or invent. He wasn't good at inventing but his dad always said "If you keep your views limited and only look to the past and present you'll never see the bright future that you can help create." for a toy maker he had a lot of sayings.

He took a long moment to begin to even try to look at the page. Like before his eyes just kept sliding off, not knowing where they should start. He knew where he was what the next words were but he had a problem with focusing. He was just no good at it at the moment. He didn't even know why Tenshi was there in the first place. He had better ask him or it will be very rude. He could not think why it would be rube, but when people were talking to him and he didn't respond they called him "A rude little boy that needs to be taught a lesson." He didn't understand why it was rude. Things like that always passed over his head. He had no idea what was rude and what wasn't. He just hoped Tenshi wouldn't get angry with his lack of.... what was the word? 'Compassion' He thought to himself and nodded. That seemed like the right word to use.

Then the oddest part of the story... the girl had just...disappeared. Like smoke on the wind, leaving nothing but a few stray bird feathers behind... it was odd...and suspicious and looking back that girl was most likely a ninja of some variety... but he never did solve that particular mystery. Still...looking back on that odd encounter, Byakuran couldn't help but wonder just what wouldn't happened if he's said yes....

Still, he had other concerns at the moment. He turned his attention back ot his training, his muscles still crying out for relief even as his sensory system battered them from the inside, the sound waves still ricocheting about inside him. he could do this...he just needed to focus...just needed to keep his concentration and keep on enduring it. This was more then merely a single training session... he was transforming his weakness into his strength... and it was all to obtain a jutsu that would mark him as a true member of his clan... this had to be done...this had to be ahcieved... he just needed to keep telling himself that.

This...was something that he had to do...

That encounter so many years ago had weighed on his mind for quite some time after the fact... in point of fact, ut still did, to some extent. Who was the girl? And what exactly was it that she'd intended for him? Their meeting that day had not been coincidence, he saw that now. There had been some design at work there, a plan that he couldn't see the entirety of just yet. But what could it's eventual goal possibly have been? To get him to admit that he was slightly unstable? Surely there was an easier way to achieve that... a more ffective way to achieve that, then just coming right out ans ASKING him. On what world would THAT have assured to work? And yet...

And yet she'd known he had been lying...did that mean that the goal had been achieved? Had they learned what they wanted to and that was why she had left...? Or was it some manner of test? Had the goal been to say no and mean it? Or to say Yes, SINCE he would mean it...earnestness or honesty...what had been the purpose there...?

If it had been earnestness that was the goal he supposed he'd been doomed from the start, but if it had been Honesty...well, then by saying yes that encounter might have turned out very differently. But even taking that in to consideration, there was still the matter of an end game. WHY would it matter if he was honest? Or Earnest, for that matter? Was someone looking to turn a spy for the Otobe against them? He supposed he would be a prime candidate, but if that was the goal and he'd failed why not turn him in? It didn't make any sense.

Perhaps it had merely been the girl herself? Perhaps he was over thinking her motivation? He found that he often tended to do that with more mundane things. Was this one example? Had she merely been a recently graduated genin using her skills to play a prank on him? He supposed that the girl's appearance might have been a very elaborate henge...but no...it would have had to have been TOO elaborate a henge...too elaborate the average fresh genin couldn't have made it...and someone more skilled probably would have outgrown playing pranks... and again was the fact that she could tell when he was lying...

Tenko blinked when he realized what he was reading and rereading. It was how to actually make the chakra strings. It was so simple he felt like an idiot. He wondered how hard it would be to simply do it then and there. He sighed and looked at the page. It couldn't be that easy otherwise he would have been able to learn it a lot sooner. He kept on reading though. He was more than happy enough to learn how. Or well to be told how they could be made. He hoped they would work on his first try but things never go the way you wanted unless you were really lucky. He knew he was going to take awhile to learn the jutsu. Well not too long he hoped. He felt a surge of pride once more as he remembered how old this jutsu really was.

He hummed softly to himself as he thought about what he could make or what it would even look like. He had read and remembered that the puppets were usually named by either the person making the puppet or the person that made the puppet before you and you're just copying the puppets. He wondered if he had to make one or if he could just borrow one of Mokujin-Sensei's. 'No no no.... I have to make the puppet on my own and name it. Otherwise I'd be losing myself every time I fought with my puppet. My puppet will be me in a way. It will be and do all the things I can't.' He nodded. Obviously pleased with himself. He wondered if thinking of a name before making it was bad luck. If so he wasn't about to jinx himself. He took a deep breath and smiled. He had to focus... but GOD why was it so hard?

The boy was definitely excited about learning the jutsu. Tenshi couldn't put his mind on what jutsu it was that the boy wanted to learn, and the print was too small for him to read, but it didn't matter, at least the boy was happy to learn something. Tenshi gave a chuckle, "You seem just as excited to learn your first non-academy jutsu as I was." When he revealed that it was the puppet jutsu it finally clicked in his mind. "Ah the puppet jutsu, that's right. I remember you asking me about it. I'm glad you finally found what you were looking for. When you have it mastered, I wanna see what it looks like."

But then, assuming that it WAS someone skilled enough to do a henge AND see through his lie so easily, what would someone like THAT gain from the exchange. Amusement? A petty diversion? No...it didn't quite add up. No matter how he turned the table in his mind that girl had been playing a game he just didn't recognize. It was completely beyond him as to what her motivation might have been. Oh he could throw out a few more sparse possibilities, certainly, but none of them were feasible in the slightest.

So the final question to be asked that still bothered him was, Why? Why had that encounter happened at all? Why had the girl given such a odd impression...almost like...she hadn't even been completely human... the Hoshigaki gave him a simalar impression, but that was merely because, well, they WERE actually part shark, and to one who possessed advanced senses and could smell fish from QUITE a distance away, they tended to stick out something fierce. The feel he'd gotten from the girl had bene even more definitive then that however...even less...human.

Byakuran sighed and put such thoughts at the back of his mind. There was nothing that he could do about it now. No matter how long and hard he pondered that particular mystery, he needed far more data to come up with any hard conclusions, and the only person he could make inquires to about such data was the girl herself...who he'd of course never seen since. It was rather a bit of an irk at the back of his mind, but, alas, as he'd stated to himself, there was nothing to be done about it.

It still irked him though.

His body was still trembling constantly, the rapid vibration of his frame making difficult for his normally sharp senses to hear anything beyond his own body. With his eyes closed, he was barely even able to notice someone standing right next to him. He supposed that he must have really looked a sight to someone who just happened to walk by, standing their sweating profoundly shaking as though he was in the middle of a very localized earth quake...

The entire point of this exercise had originally been to train himself to be able to endure the Minor vibration technique...but now it was more then merely that. He was attempting to break past his limits and endure the training now merely because he had begun it...and he would;'t be satisfied until such time as he was complete. With some time and patience, trail and error, he probably could have merely called it a day and moved on to the jutsu, just barely scraping by and managing to learn it...but no. No that wasn't acceptable now. he was going to complete this training and make his ability to endure...to persevere, his most dominant trait as a warrior...as a Shinobi. That being as it was, he was not even pressed into giving up now. He'd already com so far down this path, that there WAS no turning back on account of his pride... this was a matter of meaning now, no longer mere functionality...

Tenko smiled eagerly. "Of course Tenshi-sama. I might ask you if you could train against it so I can get a better handle on it... But please don't use that windy jutsu you were trying to learn.... I'd rather not have to make a whole new one from scratch again. Hahahaha." He continued to read and was stunned by what he was reading. 'Dead bodies turned into puppets? And the master of said puppet is able to use the jutsu of the deceased.... Now that's creepy.' He kept his mouth shut and didn't tell Tenshi any of it. It sounded dark... Almost forbidden... He hoped it was. He would have hated to face a dead person being controlled. The felt a small stab of sadness. ' What if the puppet was someones sister or brother and they had to face them... Those poor people...' His eyes held a hint of sadness. He was going to continue regardless. He wasn't going to let this one little thing get him down from such a great mood.

He went back to the part about how to make the chakra strings. He knew he was pretty good at Chakra control but to that degree? He hoped he was ready. He would have hated to learn all this and just not be able to use the jutsu. He read the scroll still as he reached cautiously into his bag pulled out his puppet. He was nearing the end of information part and about to move on to the demonstration part. He took a deep breath and smiled wholeheartedly, he was going to finish it no matter what. He could not give up yet. He had made it to the edge and was about to jump off into the magic of jutsu's. He wondered whether someone had invented a new way to use the puppets.

He was getting stronger...or, more durable, in the least. He could feel it. He could feel, even through their exertion, his seemingly tight and flexible muscles hardening from the effort. This WAS working...it was merely a matter of how far he intended to take it. How far he was willing tp ush his body passed the point of it's current limitations. He didn't even know how long he'd been at this now or what time it was...with his eyes shut as tight as they were and his sensory system being muted by it's efforts, it could be night for all he knew...but that didn't matter right now. It didn't matter what time it was or how tired he became. what matter was that he continued to fight himself...continued to advance in this self induced trial...until he was at last satisfied... and if he was perfectly honest with himself...he wasn't even close to satisfied yet....

This He felt he was drawing close again...close to yet another plateau of power... another point where he was noticeably improving...that was...four now, as soon as he managed to achieve it...but he couldn't grow complacent... in order to even had a fair shot at enduring the technique, his body would have to be ten times stronger then it was before...

Five times stronger. The very notion was almost amusing. Could it even be feasible for him to expect in a singe to day to grow five times stronger, even if he WAS pushing himself like a man possessed? The fact of of the matter, he realized, was that that didn't matter at all. It wasn't important whether he was able to grow five times stronger... the point of the matter was that he gave it everything that he could and test himself against what was seemingly impossible. If...IF, he was able to overwhelm one seemingly impossible odd...maybe he could overcome more.

Maybe he could manage to someday defeat the banner that this moment, far away, loomed over Oto. The Banner that he was forced under by right of birth. The banner that even after practically exiling him in this foreign land on a suicide of an infiltration mission... he was still under the thumb of...

If he could do one impossible thing..then maybe earning his freedom was also not so out of reach...

But for now he couldn't keep his eyes on a distant future...he had to be mindful of his current situation, and his current weakness... it was a hard fact that at the moment, he was nothing more then a powerful initiate. He would continue to play in time with his family for the moment, follow their tune until such time as his...solo, began. If he had to use the Village of a hidden mist as sacrifice for this end, or, perhaps in the best case scenario, a tool, to achieve this end...then that was merely what he would have to do...

Hmm...still though, why did that thought bother him ever so slightly? He supposed that he did enjoy this place well enough. Perhaps that was the reason? It was of an agreeable climate and he did like the look that the constant mist gave most everything in the village. The constant sound of shifting water also brought him comfort by now... what to do...

He guess that that would be a bridge he would have to cross when he came to it.

Tenko couldn't make out the last paragraph. His eyes began to feel heavy but he knew it was just the start of a black eye. He touched it gingerly and winced. "I'll tell you one thing. . . That Karasu can sure throw a mean kick." His eye was from a fall and his arm felt as if he had got it caught it a vice. He rubbed that gingerly too. He was going to have a black eye. No need to cause more bruising. He tried to look back at the scroll but like always his eyes continued to just slide away. He yawned and stretched his arms above his head. He was tired. So much chakra he had used today. He was tired and the reading didn't help. He always feel asleep when he was trying to read. He stifled another yawn.

Many believe that the Otobe were a clan that, because they believed themselves to be gods, were overly arrogant and largely over confident due to their inherently low opinion of everyone they came up against... however, in the case of Byakuran, this core value instilled in him as a child had been...warped. His view of himself and the world around him was more methodical, and his view of himself and the Otobe was likewise so. But this had led to a deep seeded...drive. Deep down somewhere, he still longed to be like the rest of his clan, however he would deny it. To have that sort've groundless faith, to truly believe that they were the strongest in existence...the greatest creations and guardians of heaven and earth. The role of a divine messenger was a tempting vocation for many reasons, and somewhere within him, though he'd dismissed such notions... the boy wanted to live up to such a vision...to be able look in the mirror and say that he WAS that strong...WAS that superior...

Though as one with such a pragmatist attitude, the only way to reach such a state...was to actually become that strong...to live up the delusion...
