On that topic...
Has anyone here tried a long-distance relationship?
If you have, can you tell me a bit about how it worked and what helped?
PostPosted: Sun May 25, 2008 8:59 pm

Long distance relationships are very hard. None of mine worked out.
It is just too much of a hassle and it sucks never seeing the person...

On a brighter note my cousin is now married to a girl he was in a long distance relationship with and they have two childre now. But they stared living together after a year.

So really, it depends, but I don't think that long long distance relationships really work out on the whole confused

Yeah, that was the biggest problem. I think that if you don't see your boyfriend/girlfriend on a close-to-daily basis, it'll be quite hard to work out. >.< But yeah, that's one of the reasons why we decided that it'd be the best to just let go at the end of the year. And there's a chance that he'll be at the same school again the year after - if that happens, I'm completely unsure as to what we would do. O.o'

I just think that if you guys can continuously see each other, and keep in contact, it should work out a lot better. =D

I don't know...I find it kind of hard to open myself up to people.
I'm going to a new school next year, and I won't know anyone. And the school is one that is led up to by only one selection of students who all know each other now (and likely have known each other for the past 8 years), so I'll feel a bit out of it. I mean, I'm not antisocial (XD) but it's difficult to trust people. (Not a conscious decision!)
And I really don't want to break up with him...though I could just be making this harder for both of us. I believe that we'll still be able to relate pretty well because most of my closest friends are going to the same school as he is, and we've all promised to keep in touch. Hopefully this will work. Any words of advice?

I feel so doomed! I've been with the same group of people (in general) for the past 8 years, or close to that. And next year I'll have to adjust to a new program, new people, new teachers, and a new campus. I'm not worried about gaining friends and stuff--rather, I'm stressed about how I'm going to balance everything I'll need to do in order to present a 'well rounded' character to colleges. Stupid resumes. >.>'
On a lighter note, the school year is almost over! Is anyone graduating (from anything) here?

Ah! Don't worry! When I first entered high school I knew no one! Well like 2 people but they were just acquaintances. By 2 or 3 weeks (mind you, I was really shy then), I already found friends. By the end of High school, I finally found my group that I was supposed to be with and all. After high school, the people who are your true friends you hang out with and stuff. Turayza, I'm pretty sure you will be fine. Be friendly, don't expect a group of friends for a while (I'm not being pessimistic just realistic), just be yourself. My cousin graduated from my university, I am so proud of her! So anywho, I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. And since I am on vacation right now, until the 2nd (curse math!), I have a date with my boyfriend on Wednesday to the beach! I am super excited!

I am afraid I know nothing about love-relationships (or at least I know little about the practical part). That's because I was a single throughout my life (with disregard to my unfortunate Internet-love affair ^^; here I must agree that long-distance relationships are BAD and I think that your decision, Ivysaurusrex, is good even if it hurts...).

It was quite funny when I first entered my university. Of course I knew no one, but at the very beginning, even before the opening ceremony, I already befriended people from my future pack. To be precise, it was while I was waiting for the oral test which was supposed to put people in groups of different levels of difficulty. I just started talking with the guy after me, then the guy before me joined us... And the same day but later when we were checking our schedule my third future-friend came behind our backs to check the same thing and we started talking also. ^^ We exchanged our phone numbers and we are friends since then (it's almost 2 years right now). And our pack got bigger of course which is also a very nice thing (especially because I'm not the only girl now xD).

Lol XD
I guess I'm a bit disdainful. I'm in this weird program-thing where a bunch of people with very academically-pushy parents are stuck...it's called "PRISM". Yeah, it sounds like prison. That's basically it. XD
Anyways, all my friends are very concerned with homework and school, and we all expect to head off to Ivy League colleges and other such fluff. (I feel like I've lost my childhood T__T) Anyways, it's kind of...frustrating...when I have to deal with people who don't care how they do academically and makes me very...unpleasant. ^ ^'
Oh well! I don't expect a strong group of friends for maybe...half a year. Possibly more. But I don't suppose I'll need one for a while, as getting used to school will be plenty of work enough. =D
Wow...I find it kind of hard to talk to guys I don't know...but once I get to know them better, they're easier to understand/get along with than my most of my female friends XD
I dunno...I suppose trying never hurts. And if we find a need to break it off...well, I'll think about that then. (heehee)
Have fun on your date para!
And Fivienne, thanks for your advice. ><'

Have fun, para! =DD

Ack, yeah, I think that I am making the right decision, although it does hurt a lot. I think it'll make things less complicated in the long run, and things might work out better.

Aughhh. I just found out that I'm moving. So, I can't go to the school I reallyreally wanted to go to. D: Now I have to choose between two other schools... Ack. T-T I'm actually extremely sad; I've had my heart set on this school (Newport) for a really long time, and I don't want to go anywhere else! Ah, well, life moves on, I guess I have to accept it. But I really don't see myself anywhere else; only there D: But the thing is, Newport is a closed school, so they won't accept you if you don't live in the area -.-' And so, I can't go. crying

I'm sorry Ivy. >< Are you sure you can't do anything?
On a lighter (well, not really) note, you should check this link out: http://mondo.happytreefriends.com/watch_episodes/flash/play_video.html?episode=fob_online_text.flv
XD
Don't watch it if you don't like blood or violence much. XP

I love happy tree friends! It is so awesome. I am so excited for the weekend, I have a wedding to go to down in Tijuana, its going to be crunk! I just had to say that word. I am actually happy with my life right now, I've never been so happy, I'm even not that mad that I don't have a job.
PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2008 4:37 pm

Er...I thought crunk meant crazy drunk. XD
I know! Happy tree friends is really good, even thought it's ridiculously sadistic.
XD
Ooh! A wedding! Who is it?

XD Yeah, I think crunk means crazy drunk. O:
Cool word, still...XD

Haha Happy Tree Friends is actually entertaining sometimes! XP

Yeah. My favorite one is where this yellow bunny tries to court this pink bunny but keeps on being blocked by random events. Then, after they all die, the pink and yellow bunny get piked on the same tube-thing and finally kiss (though they're dead). XD
It's pretty...special.
