WhiteJoker MegamanPsy WhiteJoker So, I pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic and am now waging logical-fu on their forums. Anybody else thinking of perhaps poking it? What kind? Nearly any sort of vaguely ethical or moral discussion involving the Force. Stupid popularity versus threads (I found the Revan vs the USMC particularly head desking worthy). Some idiot bitching about how Jedi should just magically own other classes because "they do it in the movies!" A couple of canon debates involving citing specifics down to issue numbers and specific pages. Dealing with idiotic "I want to be special!/I want everybody to be ******** the same!" crap. I'm not sure I know enough Star Wars lore to make decent arguments on it.

The morality debates are easy because they come in one of two varieties; either they refuse to acknowledge that there is such a thing as a gray area or they try to shoehorn things into made up scenarios where the only option they provide you is either saving the universe and farting rainbows or murdering a billion people to save yourself from the tedious task of walking five meters. So really, it's just the one kind but they like to think it's a different argument both times.

It's more fun when set in the contextual framework of fictional space opera because very few people are likely to get wound up enough to devolve to the "YOU ARE A BABY EATING MONSTER!" position. Also you can reference people who wave around glowing death sticks are sources of wisdom. But really, I never said it was intelligent and I don't really derive joy from it because it's a well thought out debate; I derive joy from it because I don't have to feel any remorse over arrogantly smacking somebody down from a position of superiority. I mean honestly, I'm the guy who went into stupid AMC versus threads and wrote pages of logical counter-points to what were ultimately fan-wanking screams because I could.

Streamjumper Zelyhon Streamjumper Zelyhon Bar is done. Will catch up on Backlog and try to figure out how best to go about getting onto XBLA with everyone in the next few days. Congrats, man! Now to make up for all that free time you missed with some grade A slacking for a week or two. Remember that when you set up your new account the first month of Gold is free. After that you'll need to pay the subscription fee, but 50-60 bucks a year is chump change compared to the reliability of the network, speed of updates, and the features Gold gets ya (cross-game chat and friends list are huge ones here). If you don't have one yet, remember to snag a headset (the $40 dollar Microsoft cordless is nice, but the el-cheapo $20 wired set is just fine too) so you can talk with us. Oh, and don't forget to PM me your current mailing address so I can send you something to welcome you to the collective. Oh, and a little good news for the rest of the collective: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-9153-Borderlands-2-in-Development-Says-Source.html I'll definitely be looking into that. I need to figure out an efficient way to get an ethernet cable from my 360 to the router, but I might just give up and just run it right across the room under the carpet. XD The days since the bar have certainly been unproductive relaxation. Lots and lots of fun. Finished Heavy Rain and I'm trying to go back and see all the various endings right now. After that, I'll be playing Infamous and/or Mass Effect, both of which I'm really looking forward to. The other game I'm playing now that you all should look into and join in on is League of Legends. My roommate got me into it. It's kinda like Defense of the Ancients from Warcraft III. Free to play and online, so give it a shot, all! http://na.leagueoflegends.com/ Thanks, but no LoL for me. My PC gaming is almost exclusively dominated by KoL and Minecraft. I've also watched some Let's Play videos of LoL and it really didn't interest me in the least. Thanks for the mention though. I'd run the cable either right under the carpet (if possible trying to slightly skirt high traffic areas) or around the edge of the room (if possible). You probably already have one, but I've found some good, long ones (I think up to 40 feet) at Target for reasonable prices. Anywho, if you get online my tag is same as here... Streamjumper. And I can get you connected to the others, especially Kin, Zero, and Suyo. If you get your box running sometime before next Tuesday, I strongly endorse snagging an XBL points card and scooping up Fancy Pants Adventures for 400 points (5 bucks). Fun platforming abounds with an interesting stick-figure art style. I also strongly suggest grabbing Double Fine's 3rd person mecha shooter/tower defense extravaganza, Trenched (totally worth the 1200 points/15 bucks they priced it at). Both games include online multiplayer, so fun abounds. However, if you get and spend points on so much as a single one of the accursed Jersey Shore avatar items, Kin and I will hunt you down and deliver divine judgement for your transgression. Yeah, the carpet's probably going to be my choice. It should avoid most of the foot traffic, so long as I'm careful when leaving my room. My current roommate is going to be moving out soon, and the carpet belongs to him. After that, though, when the new roommate moves in, things can be rearranged to accommodate the cable. XD Chances are good my username will also be the same as here. It's been unclaimed everywhere I have ever registered before, so I would be shocked if it was already taken on there. When I start buying games off the 360, Trenched is one of the ones that looked more interesting to me. And don't worry. The chances of spending points on avatar items in general is pretty low. The chances of spending them on Jersey Shore items is nil. Never seen the show, but whenever there are clips of it on something like the Daily Show, it causes me to doubt how humanity has survived with people like that as part of it.

WhiteJoker Zero Omega WhiteJoker Dr. Fomite Hey there, WJ. Been a while. Hope you're doing well aside from bad red ringiness. And hopefully your memory will cooperate, lest someone be forced to jog it for you. Does this jogging involve mad science? On a somewhat related note, I read a few chapters of Franken Fran a few weeks ago and I thought of you. As for how I'm doing... well, on the one hand I just got from a fun trip to New York while on the other my wallet and phone were stolen just before I left. So, grand scheme of things... evens out, I guess. You smell like booze, sea life, and popcorn. ...that sounds like what I should have been doing down by the beach instead of what I actually did. Well boo, I was expecting that!
Sorry to hear about your stuff being stolen though.

Hey guys. My sister drew this album cover for Sonic Sessions Volume 2, and it’s in the top 5 to win. If she wins, she’ll get a scholarship to Pixel Blue College. Which is pretty keen. If you guys can go vote for her, that would be pretty dang sweet. http://www.sonic1029.com/2011/08/08/vote-for-your-favorite-sonic-sessions-2-cd-artwork/

Consider my vote cast, Dill. MegamanPsy Got the computer in the mail today. It is going to take me awhile to get used to the keyboard. Awesome. I've never really been able to get used to laptop keyboards myself. So, do you have any games for your impending 360 yet? Is there anything you're considering? Lemme know what you're thinking of and what you're interested in. In other news, they're accepting applications for the closed beta of Gotham City Imposters here if anyone is interested in giving it a shot. Imagine a shooter where you're a member of either a gang of in-comic-world Batman wannabes or Joker wannabes going after the rival gang. Toss in either batmanny or jokerish gadgets and allow to marinate. That's the idea in a nutshell. Also, THQ has announced that in addition to the well-documented richly developed single player campaign and long spoken-of (and highly customizable) multi-player, they're throwing in an only previously rumored (and unreflected in the recently released cheevo list) co-op mode. Showing further exactly how rumored this mode was is the fact that it is 5 player co-op (of an unmentioned nature rather than the widely speculated 2 player campaign mode) to be released 30 days post-street to anyone with one of the passes included in every new copy of the game. Cue epic maelstrom of nerd rage of the entitlement nature. Somehow this unannounced, unadvertised, unreflected in the acchievement list, extra item intended to preserve new sales in the face of an outright brutal used market has been deemed to be "stripped from the game" to "gouge the consumers" rendering it to be "shipped incomplete". Wow. Just wow. That'll learn them to ******** the customer base by adding an extra item to an already well-developed and apparently value-rich successor to a generally high-quality intellectual property produced by a well-regarded electronic entertainment studio. Remember, boys and girls... protecting your profits by giving the customers goodies and incentives rather than always-on DRM is what Hitler did. I know this because some pimple-ridden 13 year old angstily posted a blog-rant to a gaming forum... presumably from the inside of his locker. I get a feeling he's used to it in there.

Just going through The Oatmeal comics, and just got to this one. Oh ******** god... question #5's answer had me in goddamn tears for 10 minutes straight. I had to answer a few calls, try to drink coffee, and stiffle several sneezes all while losing my s**t.
