Dr. Fomite
Congratulations, Pi. I hope Yuki's doing well now and I'm glad everything else went well. heart Thank you!
Oh Mala! It was crazy times with that dog. She was having a hard time breathing, and her little belly was rock hard. We thought she was choking at first, and the only emergency vet clinic was about 30 minutes away. And we were all running on about 3 hours of sleep.
We got her there, they took her back right away to try and get whatever was stuck out. They came back about 20 minutes later and said there wasn't anything stuck. They asked if we wanted to do xrays, which of course we did since we knew something was wrong.
They kept her back there for about an hour with some oxygen, then did the xrays. Mass in her esophagus. They said since it had been about an hour, they didn't think she was going to pass it by herself. So we had two options.
They could try to get it to pass there. Which there was a chance that it wouldn't, and if it was something hard it could tear up her esophagus. Or we could drive an hour and half up to University of Wisconsin in Madison where they have fancier equipment and could get it out or to pass for sure.
Well. Nobody wanted to drive to Madison. We were all sososo tired. So we decided to let them try to do it. That way we would have time to go home at least and nap if we did have to take her to Wisconsin.
But! They did it! We got her home and she was a little loopy from the anesthesia, but she was up bright and early running all over us on the bed.
heart gonk The emergency vet people were so nice. The whole adventure cost a pretty penny...but it really wasn't as much as I thought it could have been. All of the prices seemed fair. I am going to write them a thank you note.
