Gregar828 Comparing me to Hitler is a joke? I find nothing funny about this. I am well aware that people find me strict, but comparing me to a mass murdering madman is inexcusable. And I'm not factoring in rank in any way, I'm judging this as an absolutely inappropriate way to describe someone as. If thats what you think of me, you should keep that to yourself. Wha? Why does everyone assume when I... x.x No. It was a comparison of situation, not people. You find that threatening to take away someone's RP, autorank, or demon, is more fun than simply giving them a difficult task to complete as your "Revenge" threats. The only reason I used Hitler and jews is because it's the first thing that popped into mind, that anyone reading could understand without explanation. I suppose being a Naruto guild, I could have better used Itachi to Sasuke, referring to his trick of making Sasuke hate him. But no, I do not think you are a mass murdering madman, although for argument's sake, Hitler was a genius. It was simply the most convenient thing that popped into my head. ~ I need to stop making jokes using possibly offensive people or things I think. Last time, Auggie got upset cause I related his insanity to trolls. I hate it when something meant to cause giggles causes rage...

It's common sense that a topic as serious as that would not be funny, no matter what context, and especially not when directly comparing it to a specific person. You still have not given me a reason not to Ougoun you.

Gregar828 Now stay out of things that do not concern you. Yeah... no. I'm an absoloute b***h for sticking my nose into things where I am not concerned but am now interested in because it in some way challenges my code of ethics. Is Ougun really the standard punishment for a joke in bad taste (on any magnititude) gone awry? Or is it simply the punishment because you have the power to administer it as a punishment?

Alright. One solid reason, with no defending the statement.
It was a joke. It was not meant to offend, and honestly, the only reason you are making the threat is because it was to you. A regular member could just state that they found the statement offensive, and request an apology, and it would be given, as it already has been.
Another reason is that Ougun is not meant to be used that way. I made a simple statement that was meant to be taken as a joke. As I said, this could easily be solved with an apology if it were requested. Ougun is meant to be used on the most heinous of acts, such as outright making threats against someone. It's not meant for things that can be solved with normal methods.
Your reason to not Ougun me, besides the fact that it wouldn't do much in the first place, is because you can't.

Alright look, you two are both crew members and we do not need you to publically arguing in a forum like this. While yes Hinote's joke was tasteless and inappropriate, he has explained and apologized for it. If that is not enough for you then please take it to a PM.
Gregar you owe Auggie and Mint an apology. I understand that you are offended but that does not give you the right to offend others when they are simply trying to diffuse a situation before it gets out of hand. If you felt like this was a matter that was between you and Hinote then you could have sent him a PM and deleted his post. The rulebook says that crew has the right to remove posts that they find offensive so nothing would have been wrong in you doing so. Though basically telling our members to shut up and mind their business in a public thread is uncalled for. That breaks the rule of no douchebaggery. And even if for some reason you didn't want to speak in PM, you could have spoke to them in a less disrespectful manner knowing that they couldn't say anything back to you because of fear of getting banned or an ougun.

On the charge of directly comparing another member, regardless of rank, of the guild in an obviously offensive way of this magnitude, yes, it is.

You make one large mistake: That you assume I act this way just because it is me. Oh, trust me, if you were to do this to anyone else within the guild, or if someone were to do it to you, I would react the same way. Here's something that I think no one has figured out about me yet: I have a very high, to some unbelievably high, standard of morals. I cannot sit by while something like this is said, because it goes against my ethical code. Maybe THATS why you all seem to think I'm a controlling douchebag, because I cannot stand to see immoral things said in the guild I have spent so much time and energy to create, so I stop it whenever I see it. And in this case, I'm trying to make sure that a message is sent not to you, but to everyone: As long as I am within this guild, comments like this will never, EVER be tolerated. And to me, a comment like this is heinous enough to be Ougoun worthy. I'll make my final decision about whether I believe this to still be worthy tomorrow, after I regain a little more judgment.

Despite the thousands of things that I have to say about you're post Greg, there is one part that stands out to me.
"I cannot stand to see immoral things said in the guild I have spent so much time and energy to create, so I stop it whenever I see it."
You are not the only person in this guild who spent much time and energy to create it. You are not the only person in this guild with a high morals. You are not a douche for speaking up for something that goes against your moral code, but you are a douche for the way you chose to speak out on it. It was unprofessional, uncalled for, very condescending and therefore offensive to some of our members. Though unlike Hinote, you haven't apologized to the people you offended.

And to me, a comment like this is heinous enough to be Ougoun worthy. I'll make my final decision about whether I believe this to still be worthy tomorrow, after I regain a little more judgment. Please do. But keep in mind, that while you have a high moral standard and everyone can most definitely respect that, there is a limit. While the statement can be seen as offensive, most would take it as a joke. Every presidential candidate since world war two has been compared to Hitler. Anyone who has ever done anything anyone might construe as remotely close to being somehow bad, has been compared to Hitler. Hitler has become a name that is more commonly found in jokes and foolish ideas than it is in history. If I wanted to say something to offend someone, it most definitely would not include Hitler. You need to understand that, as we live in a time of insensitive, and desensitized people. And I dare say, almost anyone here would agree with that. I can respect that you step in when things go too far in a debate. I respect that you step in when perverse things begin to go overboard. I honestly respect you for about 99% of the different things you do in this guild, even, or possibly especially, the ones that unintentionally cause offense. When things go overboard, or someone is obviously out of place, that is the proper time to step in. However, this was none of those things. This falls under the category of your not understanding modern humor. I highly respect your morals, and the things that drive them, but this is not the proper outlet to show them in. If someone referred to me in the same way and you made this threat, I would most definitely step in and stop you, as I would not find it offensive, and the person who said it most likely would not have meant it as such. There is a difference between solving a potential problem, and causing needless strife. This entire debate will be gone in a few days, lost in history and nobody will care to go back and revive it. The only way to make an example out of this, would be to ban me, and paste the entire thing on the guild homepage where anyone joining the guild would see it. And I dare say it would turn more members away from the guild than anything else either of us have done before. Also, I don't know if you follow this principle or not, but I personally follow the rule of if it offends me, and I have the power to make the person who did it pay, I hand it to someone else, who can properly judge the issue without bias. If you REALLY think this is serious enough to be worth punishment, beyond the stress you've already caused my by this debate, talk to Lance. Talk to Luo, talk to someone else who can take a view from the sidelines. Because it's never right to lay judgment on something offensive only to yourself, when others might see it differently, and the subject in question has already apologized. As it is very late, and I am very cold, to the point my hands are going the wrong way half the time and refuse to stay where I want them due to spasms, I shall be taking my leave now. But really Gregar, consider all of that. And look at it without your morals intact. The right way to make people better, isn't to make yourself a monster of morality. -Edit- And if there is anything more to be said on this matter, let it be said in the crew forum, as this was never the proper place for any sort of disagreement between crew. -Edit- ~ Go ahead and repost it Muffin. I saw it, and have no idea why it was deleted. Probably just because it came in the middle of this.
