Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going to california with an aching in my heart.
The Lieutenant opened her mouth to speak, but found only air came from her throat, not any sort of speech or coherent sentence. She could see no one from where she lay, but she heard breathing close by. Her ears strained to pick up more than this. There had been a time when she could tell a person by the sound they made inhaling and exhaling, but she had a hard time discerning now. It was familiar, though, she was quite sure that it was a good friend. Were they laying there, too? And why?
What happened to me? She panicked within her head - had the tavern been taken by the enemy? Where had she acquired all of these injuries. She hadn't been on the battlefield last she remembered. Her last mission had been merely diplomatic. I can hardly move. What the hell is going on?Someone told me theres a girl out there

The Faun's distress sang out in her blood- and therefore, in Emma's. Her eyes slammed open, the enchantress going from horizontal to vertical in milliseconds.
She was inside the Lieutenant's booth in the next moment. "Awake at last, I see. I would ask if you were alright, but I fear the answer would not be the one I seek."

The Faun attempted to speak aloud again, this time her throat seemed more willing to let words come out of it - though they were weak, barely audible to a normal ear.
The very first thing she spoke, with a two second pause in between each word - "I've had worse."Someone told me theres a girl out there

She turned her attentions inward, discovering that somebody had been very sneaky while she had been asleep.
Her powers were returned, and her body tingled with an all-too-familiar aura.
The enchantress stretched out a hand over Kaok, casting a minor diagnostic spell.

"I assume I have you to thank for fixing me up?" The Faun nodded barely at her bandages. She didn't see anyone else there.

Emma spotted the note and held it before the Faun at reading distance.
"I didn't know you had other elven acquaintances."

"James."
Her already quiet voice dropped even more silent on this word.
"He was here." She looked up at Emma from her spot.
She repeated herself, incredulous. "He was here."Someone told me theres a girl out there

Emma nodded. "He did a very good job of keeping you alive."
She sat down beside the Lieutenant, folding her hands calmly in her lap.
Every nerve in her body sizzled with newly reclaimed magic, every bone, muscle and sinew burning with ethereal fire.

Not only keeping her alive, but he treated every single injury with the same fervor than the next. That time that she had dislocated her shoulder, and he had fixed it as she kept going at the enemy with her other arm.

She was surprised at how quickly her powers had returned post-Samhain. But, then again, she knew the cause.

"Well, other than I doubt your life has been uneventful-." She stopped, slightly mesmerized by the change. What a weird state she was in. Perhaps it was the head injury that she felt very prominently.
