Mostly unaware of what his actions meant to his father, he remained that way for a little while, far more comfortable than he would be otherwise. It was nice to know that even though he'd driven his father away completely and things hadn't gone so well the past few days, he was still a source of comfort to the young elf. "Yes but she and I aren't getting along right now. If I were to put her through her paces right now, she'd probably throw me off and try to hurt me even more. I just can't deal with it. Besides, Nadai could probably use a break as well. He's been underfoot ever since..." Trailing off and biting his lip. Perhaps that wasn't something he should bring up.

"I suppose a short time away from your race training won't hurt your chances." He could care less about Nadai but he wasn't going to say such a thing. Brushing his hand through the boys hair and out of it, the one on his shoulder used to direct the boy back to the table and sit him down. "Just take it easy for a while." Moving back to the stove and lighting the burner with a little magic. "Your mother's not cooking this morning." Usually that would be followed with the 'fair warning' joke...but who knew if his son cared for such things anymore.

"Not really. She and I already have the ability to move at a faster speed than most." Settling back down in the chair where he'd been pushed. "Is she okay? Do you know what you're doing?" It felt normal but off all at the same time. He didn't like it. At all.

"She's just tired. Was sitting with Kelligrin all night so I told her to get get a few hours on her own at least. And I was told just plop down some, wait a bit, flip and get it off. I assume since it's already mixed up, my job is simply not to burn it..." Which was usually the case when he had to make something that involved heat mostly. Which wasn't too complicated and he managed it with only burning three of them. Piling them on a plate it was brought to the table and set down. Grabbing plates and silverware, he sat down in his usual seat at the table as well. "If you don't like it, you can always get something else."

"He hasn't been getting the best reverie for a few days." Not an accusation or an attempt to make Sevilin feel guilty though Zykariel knew his father might very well feel that way regardless. "If you need any help, just tell me." His father looked as though he could handle it though. "No, this will be fine." He avoided the really burnt ones and ate heartily despite it all. "There won't be any left for Kelligrin or Mom."

"He's always been fickle." Eating his own food in the usual way, not looking at it and when he was feeling not quite himself, without looking either or regard for the amount he was eating. "Your mother never likes to eat anything I make anyway...I think she's afraid it will jump up off the plate. She'll probably make herself a big lunch and if Kel is up, I'll just give him something that will keep his attention span."

They both knew that wasn't why but Kariel wasn't going to push it any further than that. He ate in silence, downing his juice and carrying his plate and cup to the sink, washing them out. Everything in silence. Checking his wounds, he cleaned them once more and rebandaged them then turned to his father. "Do you have any of that moss or do I need to go out and forage?"

It wasn't a comfortable silence, that was for sure...but he supposed that in time he'd get used to it and learn to accept it. He used to be used to silence of such sorts and had learned to appreciate that silence. Meant everyone was going to leave him alone. But his thoughts came back to his son at the question. "No, it has to be gotten fresh and certain pieces. I'll take you out and show you so you'll know for whenever." Taking his own dishes to the sink and setting them there, leaving them for later. "Come on. You might want to put on some good boots."

Dropping the bloody rag in the sink, he glanced back at his father and frowned. They had to go out? Well...alright. That meant he had to go find his good boots and make sure no scent of blood was decipherable. Wouldn't do to lead a large Underdark...thing right to their front door. Swinging his cloak over his shoulders, he followed out the door and glanced around for any danger as he'd been taught. "We have to go on a ramble then?"

"It won't be a long one." Sans cloak, but he had grabbed his polearm...and apparently Nym had joined them as well as he skittered along the rocks beside them until her managed to leap to Sevilin's boot and cling to his pants...chittering nastily. Probably about a certain missing length to a cretain braid. He merely led the boy along, looking around from time to time till they came upon said moss. "Good to use as a seal for wounds too. Granted you shouldn't do that to wounds if they aren't clean but stopping bleeding is important and the like." Gesturing the boy close. "You don't want to use any of the top layer and you don't want the roots either. Just the middle."

It was time to learn once again. He almost wished that they were going on a long one and his father was going to lay everything out on the line and he could finally understand what he needed so desperately. But that wasn't Sevilin Inthara's way and, by default, it wasn't his son's either. Things were just unsaid and hanging between them. "Especially in battle." Kneeling down beside him, though careful to avoid putting pressure on his injured knee, he watched his father work and then picked up a bit of his own. "How much do I need?" Then pausing as his ears flicked in response to a distant noise and he frowned. Had to be aware at all times.

Why he was teaching the boy instead of just handing over teh goods, he didn't know. Maybe just so he could be around the boy. But why Zykariel was tolerating it was another mystery seeing as he had made it quite clear that he had no interest in most subjects like this. Perhaps it was out of his own habits that he couldn't help but explain things. "About a palm full will do it for most things. Then you just need two rocks, and some heat and you're in business." Gathering some up and showing his son how to further go about this, grining the slivers of moss into a pulp that was them spread thin over another rock. Quick burst of magic set it aflame a few seconds before they were put out and the slightly caramalized moss was left behind and he blew a breath to cool it some before peeling it off the rock. "Pretty simple, and you want to put it on while it's still hot. Sticks better, works faster."

Grinding the moss was significantly harder than it was made out to be, but he was used to it from his potion's studies. His mother often had him grinding things that were much harder than Underdark moss. "And the magic doesn't interact with it in any negative ways?" He could hear his mother's voice harping about safety and magical consequences in his head... Copying the shown actions, he peeled his own bit off the rocks, rolled up his pantleg and rested the still hot mixture on his bruised shin then rested his other leg on the ground so his father could apply the other skin to his knee. "How long does it need to stay on?"

Not if you're just using basic heat or fire spells. Or just energy explusion like I do." He was always going to be a man of his runes. But he watched his son and noted the little action as well, taking the offered action as a go and tended to the boy's knee, placing the other he had made himself there. No it wouldn't cure the bruising, but yes it would take out the sting. "That I don't really know. I would just let mine stay on till they fell off or if I had dressings on top, till those needed changing." Sitting back on the ground and brushing a hand over the thin scar that trailed below his eye and back to his ear. "I'm not completely hopeless when it comes to healing things I suppose. Though your mother would still call it crude."

"I never think about your runes that way though that's exactly what they are." Which meant that their task was done and his father could easily get up and leave him sitting there, expecting him to follow. Or he could stay...but what would they talk about? "I guess we'll find out then." His eyes rolled in that purely teenager way at his last statement. "Mother finds everything that she doesn't do crude. If I stir something with a knife, it's crude."
