Well maybe my store lacks up for it with the kindness and dedications shown by the no-life nerds that work there. One of them seems to like...Live in the store, I wouldnt be surprosed to find a cot under the table with a little cooking kit beside it. This is not a stereotype, its just the people at my store...arent people.

Sniper Drones have a specific niche. And that niche is Combat Patrol/other low point games. They're excellent for getting high AP dakka on the cheap, especially when you don't have to worry about any vehicles with an AV higher than 12. For the same price as a pimped out Railhead, you can pick up 9 AP3 shots that can fire from three different angles, are stealthed, and can buff each other with the Markerlights. And in Combat Patrol, they're the only Heavy Support choice you're allowed to take anyway. The Hammerhead and Skyray have a combined AV of more than 33, the Broadside has a 2+ save. All that's left is Sniper Teams.

Thier only downside is that they aren't scoring.

Seeming as the Tau army is pretty much a range army, is it worth me getting a devilfish troop carrier? I was just wondering really, is it a vehicle which is good for retreating?

i dont think i ever see the tau pull back if you have them set up goodd but if you have path finders you need that tank so ya your going to need one of them at lest

I dont see a use in a devilfish...You certainly dont want to bring your infantry closer to the fray.

Devilfish have plenty of uses. For one, they allow you to move your Fire Warriors to where they're needed instead of leaving them to take potshots at long range, or be unable to provide support because of a lack of LOS. Yes, they can get your Fire Warriors into assault range, but thier bulk also allows rapid-firing while blocking enemy assaults. Furthermore, they're also a decent light tank, especially with Smart Missiles.

If you get a devilfish, you don't need pathfinders, but if you get pathfinders, you need a devil fish. Kind of goofy, eh? I read that codex over a dozen times on that topic and that is how I read it every single time. 3nodding

Yeah, the Tau of plenty of anti-vehicle weapons. The infantry weapons you will have to put on crisis suits though, which are elites.

As for anti-tank weapons, you can get lucky with their normal weapons on occassion. 3nodding They are strength 5 weapons and many tanks have 10 and 11 armor somewhere on the tank, most of the time in the back and sometimes on the sides. Just get around the tank with a devilfish and fire away and pray for high rolls. xd

Oh yes, just entirely rely on luck in order to win.
Excellent strategy, Commander Puretide.
