With the Pokemon they love best. You just have to play 40 matches. You don't even have to win any of them. When you first go there, they give you this little card that keeps track of your battle record. Every time you play a match, you tell the person who's in charge for that day(Usually it's the same guy at my League but there's be cases where he wasn't there or had left early.) and he/she will sign the card to show that you've played that many matches. Every 10 matches, you get a promo card and then every 40 you get a badge.

With the Pokemon they love best. Nope, you just have to play. I think it kind of gives you more confidence too since you don't have to win every single time just to earn something. Plus, the promo cards are usually pretty cool. I actually have more promo cards from League then I should. I've got I think 4 fire energy promos, a Zebstrika promo, and a tepig promo. The first time I ever went for league. The guy in charge for that day, gave everyone new a fire energy promo, everyone that was there a Zebstrika promo, and I earned a tepig promo that day, and then I earned a fire energy promo as well but he gave me an extra one to be nice.

I still have a little bit of time to kill before I leave, TNLG(where league is held at) isn't too far from my mom's house(where I'm at for the weekend) but I try to get there a little early so I can get a good seat and usually can get in a couple of practice duels before League starts.
