*starts stomping forwards*

"Cassie, wait..."

Hartley reached into his pocket.

"There's something I wanted to give you..."

"I'll leave, I'll leave. I just..."

Hartley quickly put his hands over hers, and then drew them away. Left in her hands was a silver necklace with a single musical note on it. Hartley let out a long sigh, shoved his hands into his pockets and started to stroll up the path.

"Goodbye, Cassandra."

*Chris stares after Hartley as he walks up to Cassie.*

Hey, Cassie. What's up?

Ah. Life is tough all over.

Dani asked for some help from us. She wants to track down whoever made that mural.

There was one thing that wasn't a lie this entire day...Hartley was heading off to see his parents. He came to a stop in front of the crater that used to be the gym, where his father was shouting at a remarkably composed Bruce Wayne.

"-paid a lot of money to make sure this gymnasium was state of the art, and you're telling me IT SIMPLY VANISHED?!"

"I'm sorry, Osgood. All of the children were recovered with no injuries, including your son-"

"Well fine on that, but that doesn't solve the problem of the gymnasium, does it? Do you know how much paperwork my insurance company sent me? Do you know what sort of insane loopholes one has to look for when a charitable donation WINDS UP ACCIDENTALLY IN HELL?"

Hartley cleared his throat, and his mother turned around.

"Hart! You got my text. Oh, you look so thin! Are they even feeding you here?"

She turned to Mister Wayne.

"You should carry Hostess Fruit Pies in the cafeteria. They're Harty's favorites."

"MOM." Hartley gritted his teeth. Osgood Rathaway looked him over.

"Hmph. You need a haircut, young man. A Rathaway should never look so....scruffy."

"Yes, sir."

"Mister Wayne says you were in the gym when it...whatever happened to it. Why didn't you do anything to help?"

Mister Wayne held up a hand.

"The students stayed safe and that's what matters-"

"Matters, shmatters, Rathaway money paid for that gym, you should have put forth SOME effort to help preserve it-"

"I don't remember." Hartley scowled. "Some of us had memory problems after, you know, finding a way back FROM HELL."

Osgood didn't look convinced.

"See here now, I don't know what sort of 'training simulation' they were running you children through,but you can't honestly expect me to believe that you were dragged through actual Hell itself, Hartley Richard Rathaway."

Hartley sighed.

"Whatever. Look, I'm going now. I have band practice early because the student election debates are this afternoon. See ya."

"Oh, Harty, wait-" His mom called after him, but Hartley was already gone.

"There there, Rachel. The boy is just learning independence. Maybe this school is doing some good for him after all." Osgood turned back to Wayne. "All right, spit it out. How much is this going to cost me?"

I liked it too. I mean it was a little racey, but still sweet.

" Well Chris you were cleaning it yesterday... did you anything on it that might indicate a clue as to who the artist was?"
