Richard chuckled. "Hardly.... I guess... you could say I was a dull child. My teen years were rebellious and just idiotic. I rushed into my a marriage I wasn't ready for, amusing me to grow up too fast, then I lost her...which caused me to age even more... minus what the force did to me..." He furrowed his brow. "I guess...I'm just worried. I know physically I'm not too old... but on the inside, I'm afraid I'm very 'well aged'.... I haven't lived this extraordinary life filled with adventure and fame, I'm not filthy rich nor have is slept with countless women, I'm just...dull." He shrugged casually. He hadn't thought of it, but it did sound like he was comparing himself to Damian...
Raquel had the same train of thought. "Do we?" She asked softly, though wasn't sure if it required an answer. She had almost lost him so many times... Even just a few weeks ago, when he proposed, she felt they had all the time in the world... but just hours later she was sure he was gone forever... This thought made her hod him even tighter.

Lorey listened and thought to herself that she should have been just as worn on the inside as him. But, she never had the time in her life to stop and marvel at what a state she'd been in. She had been raised on work and knowing that more needed to be done the next day, which was all she had and needed. But, she, too, saw the comparison made between him and Damian.
"It didn't make Damian happy. When I was working for him, he would drown himself in finery and women, but never seemed content. He always came back for me, and after every refusal, he turned around and went to do something terrible."
"I... don't know." The world in that moment became the most frightening thing he'd ever faced. Raquel could be taken from him at any moment. But he couldn't live in constant fear of that. Instead, he had to do what all those inspirational quotes mounted on the walls of doctor's offices and written down on free calendars had said: live like he would die the next day. Cherish the world around him. Dance in the rain. Finally, he understood what all that really meant.

Richard said nothing for a moment, but he seemed to think about it. "...well...Yea..." He couldn't form his words, as he simply stumbled a long a thought. "I think... we've all just got our own lots in life, and we each have to find a way out of them you know? Its what makes us who we are..." He wasn't sure if that made sense, but it did to him. "Damian's who is today, thanks to all his horrid wretched deeds, accompanied with the love and affections of Raquel I suppose... Its made him..kinder..." He seemed to think about it a bit more. "And I... I was just a hardened old man who barely saw the light of living till tomorrow, but now look at me... I'm marrying a wonderful woman... and planning my future with her..." He loved the sound of that. His kind smile and gentle eyes gave it away immediately.
Raquel pulled away slightly, just looking at him. "Hey..." She touched his face gently with one hand. "It'll be alright...you and me." She pressed her forehead agaisnt his, still not moving her hand. "Sure we don't know what tomorrow holds...but we can just take it as it comes... work with what we're given you know?" She tried to encourage, literally feeling his growing tension all of a sudden.

"While I," Lorey said, because she wanted to play this game of walking down a memory lane lined with thorny rose bushes. "I went day by day, never questioning anything and accepting that I had to do what I had to do, whether that was cleaning up a toilet or washing someone's floor. Guess we found each other for big reasons."
Damian looked back at her, and for a minute just stared. When she seemed to finally get creeped out by his unblinking eyes, he kissed her. "You and me," he whispered. "I like this idea, a lot more than I did before, if it's possible."

"I'd have to agree..." He nuzzled her a bit, kissing her softly once before pulling back to look at her. "I love you. And I love what you've done for this 'old man'..." He smiled a bit wider as he looked at her with soft brown eyes.
Raquel just smiled and held him close again, stroking his hair lovingly before pulling back to look at him more fully. "...I do too." Her eyes were just glittering again with happiness. Sure they hadn't made really any decisions, but they had reached a strange new level of their relationship together if that were possible.

"You...are not... old!" Lorey started tickling his sides as he was trapped in the chair with her. "New rule! Every time you say you're old, this starts. You hear me?"
Damian was about to kiss her nose when the doorbell rang. He cocked an eyebrow, because deliveries at that hour were odd. But, he did his best to put himself to rights before shuffling o to the door to see who was dropping off what.
Once at the breezeway, Damian saw that there was a large box, but no delivery man. It could have been something that needed no signing, he thought. In the state he was in, it hadn't even crossed him mind that it could have been dangerous.

Raquel however was a bit more paranoid. Ever since the Amaranthine's little 'visit' she had been jumpy about strange noises in the house. She tied up her robe and ofllowed Damian out the door, though stood against the wall casually, seeing he had it himself. "Do the delivery men usually just waltz in and leave your boxes in the hall?" She asked out of curiosity, though was a bit on edge. "Who's it from?" She asked.
Richard meanwhile was laughing hysterically despite the doorbell. "Stop stop! Uncle uncle for Christ sakes!!" He cried joyfully as he sputtered and grabbed for her hands. Once he had them away from his sides he gave he a sly look. "You better be careful or you'll give this old man a heart attack!" He laughed jstu to get her whirled up again.

"We usually have tea and cakes," Damian said as he dragged it inside. It was heavy, and had a simple note taped to the very top. Once he had the chance to read it in the light, he saw that it was directed to him. "Take your trash with you. ~Terra" Damian carefully opened up the box to reveal a multitude of haphazardly thrown things inside. What looked to be an old, discolored bridal veil, a box of jewelry. A photo album, keys, a small trinket box. there was a tie that belonged to his father and a few papers crumpled here and there, but on top of it all lay a small hologram disc. Thinking it was from Terra with some kind of explanation, he simply pressed the sides together to activate the small contraption. But instead of being show the face of Terra, he was shown the face of someone he had not seen for years. His mother. She was a soft and quiet woman towards the end of her life. She was beautiful, but there was clear sadness in her eyes as she looked out from the air in front of him. Damian was still as stone, and felt just as cold. "Damian," she said. "My little boy, this is for you. I know that I'll no longer be with you when you're old enough to understand death, but when you are, I want you to understand this as well: I love you. You are my pride and joy, my Damian. I want you to be good, and know that I am always watching over you. When you dance in the Ball Room, I will always be just out of the range of your vision, dancing with you. When you sing, I will help turn the pages of the music for you, like always. And when you feel you are alone, I want you to remember me and know that you are not." The woman in the hologram shed just a few tears, though she wiped them away with a laugh. "This is not good bye. I love you, my little boy." As the hologram faded out, Damian barely noticed that he was crying silently with a set face. this was not what he had expected. The sadness in the other part o the house was completely opposite from the antics in the library. Lorey wrestled with Richard, though her laughter kept her from being effective. "Darn you, being bigger than I am!"

Raquel had come up closer as he opened the box, kneeling beside him to see what on earth the rather insane woman had left. She jumped a little with the image of who she imediately recognized as Damian's mother appeared. Though she had never met or seen her... she just knew.
As the message played out, Raquel found herself choking up. Though her eyes immediately focused on Damian. It was hard to read his expression, but his body radiated grief. After a few silent moments, Raquel reached out and touched his knee gently. "Damian..." She spoke softly, and in a loving, caring tone, trying to get some reaction out of him.
Meanwhile Richard couldn't help but laugh as he brought her in for a hug. "Oh you love it! Just admit it hm??" He smiled as he scrinched up his face at her.

Damian didn't really register that Raquel was there. He played the message over again. It wasn't so much that he hadn't seen her or talked to her, or heard her voice for years, but more that what she was saying could have been shown to him years ago. Maybe then, he wouldn't have slipped into drug use. Maybe then he wouldn't have begun using women and money like disposable goods to escape the past vice. But he couldn't blame that on his father or anyone else. He could blame himself for failing his mother in almost every wish she had given him to grant. Why did this have to hit him when he was already low?
"... I failed her."
Lorey adored his hugs. She curled up inside them and felt safe and warm there. "I do love it. I love you. And I love how we can both fit in this chair."

Raquel blinked blankly a few times, shaking her head as she tried to comprehend this all. "No..Damian..." She came over closer to him, standing on her knees, she brought him in for a hug, stroking his hair softly. "No... You haven't failed. Your past is in your past love... you can't change it..." She furrowed her brow, and reached with one hand to try and wipe away the tears.
"We'll just have to find some way to take it with us then wont we? I'm sure Damian wont miss it too much." HE ha a joking mischievous look in his eye as he held her more, just enjoying this pleasant time alone.

Damian was done crying. He wasn't so sure if he was done with the hologram, but everything that he regretted about his mother was fresh once more. She had such high hopes for him, and he had dashed them by simply not caring. Now that he did care, it almost seemed too late. He pulled away from Raquel to look in the box again. Once his father had mentioned something about how his future wife should wear some necklace she had worn at their own wedding. He was guessing it was in one of the smaller boxes. "We should sort through all this..." Damian mumbled.
"Ah, yes. Getting it out the door and onto the ship won't be much of a problem." Lorey eyed up the sides and height of it, and nodded. "It's still smaller than you, and we've never had to squeeze you through the door yet, have we?"

Raquel sat for a moment just watching him numbly pick through the box. "Well... come on... Lets at least get it all off the floor..." She sighed softly, knowing if Damian wasn't ready to pour out everything yet, she'd have to wait. In the meantime she could at east get him to the table or to the privacy of his own bedroom.
"Not yet my dear, but I'm sure once we get to druis, and you and I start making our own food... I'll be house ridden... or we'll have to widen the doors..." He patted his gut as he winked at her, leaning back a little bit to pop his back.

And so, Damian took everything numbly back to his study instead of his room. the documents inside would have to be sorted, and everything else either thrown out or put in a better storage unit. Even when he was pulling things out onto his desk, Damian said nothing. His mother's wedding veil slipped through his fingers and onto the dark wood as if it meant nothing to him. Her husband, his father, was dead. There was no one to remember those memories who weren't far away then. He handed Raquel jewelry boxes and anything she might like for herself. There was his mother's death certificate inside, framed as if it were an award. His father's tie was wrinkled, and the photo album was set aside for revision later. Damian didn't want to see any more faces from the past.
"I do love you, but that would be very sad to see." Lorey snuggled back down into the chair and looked at him with dreamy eyes. "How is the house?"

Raquel had still said nothing, following him back to the study,, and silently looking over the things he handed her. She felt strange holding belongings to the one other woman who probably truly loved Damian for what he was, not how much he made. But when the veil hit the floor, she furrowed her brow. She reached down, picking it up gingerly. "......" She looked up to Damian who was still so silent and solemn. So she said nothing either simply touching the delicate fabric with care, knowing he had a lot of emotion surging through him right now, and she'd have to let him handle it in his own way.
Though when he set the photo album to the side she frowned a bit more. She picked it up and skimmed through just a few pages, seeing a few people she didn't know, but then, others she did. There was Damian's mother in many pictures, as well as a tiny little Damian, happily hugging her or playing with some toy. She looked up to the troubled man before her now, then back down to the carefree child he once was. Another silence nearly killed her. "...she was beautiful..." Was all she said as she looked down at a picture of her, smiling sweetly as she held her baby Damian.
"Its coming along perfectly." Richard smiled. "Everything is almost completed, except a few small odd jobs here and there. Thats what I'm hoping Enty and Nat are working on..." He sighed with a smile.
