Okay. Our two blades were held against each other when you began your next attack. All he did was plant his feet, thrust the blade that was blocking yours upwards and then was going to charge forward, thrusting his shoulder into your lower torso.

The blade thrust (if it works) will put both of your hands and your sword above you, though still in your possession, and held up there by his own. Once the thrust finalizes though, he would be forced to withdraw his own blade.

As for your knife, you said you were preparing to throw a knife, so I assumed you had yet to throw it.

ah. I see. Several major thoughts.

1) i hadn't realized our swords were still touching. This was an error on my part.

2) you assume she needs both hands. She has already made her attack, so waxing and waning on the blade allows for her to hold your sword up with one arm, and use the other, which was already gripping a knife, to counter your shoulder thrust.

the thoughts here being that the knifes handle was within her sleeve, and could be double gripped with the back end, non-fulcrum hand.

3)Since katana's curve, then you are holding your blade against the curved surface of hers, so you would need careful precision to stop her blade from following through it's curve to slip free of yours. this is a mis-communication.

though note that since she is in that position, when she does one hand the blade again, it will be but a wrist bend away from freedom.

Is there anything you would like to add, change, or dispute before i post?

1) LOL!

2) I know she doesnt need both hands. And yeah, you could easily place that knife (if its in her sleeve) well inside of somewhere in his shoulder.

3) I know how to fight against a Katana with a normal sword. I have done so in real life (though our blades were dull being the only difference). You slide your curve along my blade, and it will leave your hand. Especially if you are only holding it with one hand.

4) -the last part- Nah. I believe I am fine. He might get hurt but it will be minor since it is only a knife wound.

who would do that?if i were to do anything, i would I mean to angle it backwards, sliding it between you two as if it had been a frontal attack and block. she attacked you blade down, with both hands in a stab. By unbending her wrists to compensate your lifting, instead of moving her arms to compensate your upward force, she could theoretically keep a sturdy block similar to what would be achieved had she tried to chop you with it, rather than stab. This would prevent a shoulder thrust, since her sword would still be in the way.

Or she could keep her arm stiff, allowing it to move up, then slide the knife out and let your momentum embed the knife in your shoulder.

Blunt swords are 10 times as dangerous. The nerves don't heal back the same.

though how would you disarm her? I have been in Iaito before, and i intend to go back, so it would be nice to know.

You should know that she's left handed. It hasn't come up yet, but it's good to know, especially if you intend to force the hilt through the interior of her grip by pushing the blade as a fulcrum.

There are several ways. I was taught three and can only be done if the sword is built in a certain way. Much like traditional blades but the balance isn't completely perfect. Its more towards the hilt, allowing a slightly more light-weight blade.

Anyways. During the training, I was taught that when they begin to move their blade along your own forward (to reach over your upwards movement and try to stab you) when you turn the blade, catch it on the top of the handle, where it meets the blade. Not only will it lock the blade, but if you keep pressing in the same direction as you had to move your blade to lock it, if they aren't strong enough, they will lose their blade.

A second way hardly ever works and I'm not even going to mention it. It relies A LOT on chance.

The third way is somewhat like the first one, but involves trying to lock their blade, and then thrusting instead of continuing to slice the hand holding it. It isn't as effective though and doesn't work too often.

And if you retract for defense, you will be taking a blade swing from above or the side.

See, you were assuming i was sliding forewards... but i have been in real sword play.

Heh, but that would leave you open for christoff :p She would still have your other blade locked, so if you did that you would be open for otome.

Her sword was made the old old way. She has the body strength for the heavier blade, and besides. Modern balance on swords is terrible. ((plus there's only older technology there, and swords were made the traditional way))

I would never push a foreward thrust here anyways. My sparing partner took a blade inside his elbow for doing that (not against me, and the hilt guard he was using was the only reason it happened to such a degree. it's sad because pretty much his entire forearm was passed through on the way.). Luckily it was a shinken, and sharp enough that the nerves healed cleanly in a few months. Plus i like my hand.

LOL! Just post >.<

And the attack that I was just stating, wouldn't be from his second blade. Depending on what you do, it would either be from his first, or from a third.

If it was the first, it wouldn't as powerful as I prefer, but possible.

If it was the third blade, then it would have to be drawn and easy to block.

But yeah. If we ever meet (unlikely but meh) then I will show you some of the disarm techniques I learned.

might be fun. I need to replace my bokken. Live blades are all i have right now, so i will work on that.

I work with dulled blades. I bought a special blade that was only going to be used for training so it has been dulled down where it can't cut skin worth squat. Though if I put a LARGE amount of force into a swing, you might get a slight cut x.x

Though me and my friend have never been cut during the time we practice.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 14, 2011 8:52 pm

Ah. I have done live blade practice, but it was just kata, and not competitive. Iaido is never competitive except for form competitions. It was simply not a form made for friendly sparing. Besides, i didn't get very far. I have also done a lot of Bokken, and iaito practice. ((iaido is the form. Iaito is a cheap light blade with no real cutting edge used to facilitate non lethal usage of said form.))

And i have been cut before. It's fine.

She sees heat and energy. She does not sense powers in an item unless it's ability is actively being utilized. Metal still has a temperature, which tends to be different from air, especially where his hands had just touched. Though her hearing is extremely acute... which is why she's weak against sound manipulators if they make large noises. She has been fighting him using sound, his body heat, and friction heat from when their swords hit.

Well. My form I guess you could say is somewhat of a free-style. No actual grouping of where it came from. Though I must say its good against the Iaido form if luck happens to be on your side (which it never is on my side during sparring)

And so have I >.< Whether during sparring or work doesnt matter. I just have. During both.

And I wanted to ask this as soon as I thought about it. How does Susan see Arias or know where he is??

1) natural body heat. ((heat is a form of energy too, so she isn't completely blind...she just cannot read books because they are done on the same plain as the page, and not textured. Words to have too similar a heat to the paper. Arias' body has heat though.))

2) every time their swords clash, the metal heats up slightly, keeping it different from the air, and thus visible, though even then metal has a different specific heat then air, so it takes longer to heat or cool.

3) she can hear the grass bend.

If your fire sword eliminates energy from heat, then she has been hearing you, since sight has only existed for her people for a few thousand years, they are stronger relying on hearing anyways.

His swords right now are just really nicely built blades. The scrolls prevent them from being able to do anything involving their innate powers. So the two blades in front of her . . . she will only be able to see where he last touched them. Wow. That would be an awkward thing to see. Though she probably heard them pierce the ground.

WTF!!! That would be hard to use O.O

It's a game. You try to type words faster than the next person, all the while you have to roll the thing to figure out where the hell the key you are looking for is.

but metal retains a different heat then air unless it has been left out a long time. The rate metal heats or cools is different, so there would be residual friction from drawing them. But yeah, she has the sense and foresight to know what they are, and she definitely heard them go down.
