The Ghost of Xmas Awesome

PostPosted: Sat May 19, 2012 11:14 am

Byakuran's body was beginning to feel it... he felt resolution entering his muscles, his slender frame becoming more resolute even as he pushed himself further and further past his limits. He continued to push the envelope, continued to press on passed the limits of his body. The sound waves running through his body were eratic, chaotic, but there were nothing like the harmful waves that would be passing through him as he tried to master his clan's jutsu. If he couldn't endure this, then there was no way that was going to be able to master his clans jutsu. This was just the first step....the prelude to the first step, even. It was the way up to the threshold to his life as a true otobe...as a true ninja... and he could not falter now...

Takahashi had to admit the kid had more gumption then he did, he was starting to get tired just standing here watching the kid. If this was how he trained after making it into Genin he was a little afraid as to what the hell the kids standards were. What the hell did he plan to do? He didn't really seem the type to aim high with some lofty goal like "become the next Mizukage!" or something like that. And anyway it wasn't like they even HAD a Mizukage right now. Added on top of that with the way things were going, and it was more likely that he'd end up being the next Otokage...if the clan even kept the position around after they were finished. Still, the kid didn't really seem the type to aim for a position of leadership. His only ambition seemed to be to get strong and affluent, not a leader of men. What then, was he getting so worked up about...?

Then again understanding the kid was always a coin flip. He was always thinking in some many directions it was hardly ever a safe bet. If he had to hazard a guess though, he suppose he thought the kid might have some kind of complex. He wanted to learn practically everything in a world were information was something that people were willing to kill for, his own place in the village probably a constant reminder of that. If indeed people were willing to kill him for learning, then in order to surivive and follow his own priorities he was going to HAVE to get strong. Stronger then, Takahashi suspected, almost anyone. Because as whimsical as the kid was once he got it into his head that needed to do something... he generally got it done...

Byakuran wasn't afraid to admit that he found it amusing. He was turning one of his greatest weakness into his greatest strength, or he would by the time he was done. There were few enough shinobi who could do such a thing, and few enough who ever actually did so. He suspected that it wouldn't remain his strongest trait for long, of course, what with his propensity towards speed and chakra, even in his own intellect, but for now, in this moment, he was going to push himself until his body was fortified passed anything that he'd suspected it could be... press the limits of his seemingly weak frame until it was the most prominent aspect of him. He was going to endure until he could endure far more. fight against his frailty until he was no longer frail... he was going to turn that which was something he'd had to compensate for...into something that he could be proud of... it was only a matter of time...

The feeling of slowly evolving power... some might call it pain, but Byakuran viewed it differently. This wasn't the same as the pain of defeat. This wasn't anything like the pain of humiliation. This was nothing like the blistering suffering of not knowing, of known ignorance, these were merely growing pains... the ssacrifice for evolution, the price for power. A price he was willing to pay, a labor he was willing to bare, a penalty he was willing to suffer. This was merely a stepping stone, a barely memorable block in the road to his inevitable destiny. The Destiny given to him not merely by birth, as his family might believe, but a destiny carved for him by his own hand...by his own strength of will and conviction... he was going to suffer all that was required to reach that...all that was required an more...

What did it mean to reach for a dream? What was the difference between a dream and mere inevitability? Was it merely the fact that one would come to pass and the other was pure fantasy? Was it the will itself that made the difference? The intent? The drive? Was it even so simple as that? Was it even so complicated? Perhaps the difference between a dream and reality was a finer line then most believed. Perhaps the only line was whether or not the one who dreamed that dream willing or not top make it reality. Perhaps something could be both... regardless, this was something that he was going to make reality, something that he was going to inflict upon the world. His perception, his dream, would be made material, and there was nothing that was going to halt that now...even if he did have to push himself further then he ever had before...

The power of a vision was the power of the one who saw it. That is what many wise men have claimed. So the power of his dream, the power of his vision of the future, was merely as strong as the will that saw it, his will. If his will was strong enough, his dedication pure enough, then he could reach his goal. He could surpass his goal. He was that the start of journey not so different from the one in his vision, a journey to surpass all those who had thought of him as useless... to show his clan that he was greater then they assumed him to be, but even more so to show himself that he was more then they thought he could be. He desired to know just how far he could go, how far his will could push itself. How strong could he become... if it was true that the vision had all the strength of the one who viewed it... then the only thing that could limit his strength..his power...was his will itself. And so it would have to be limitless.

His ingenuity would have to be beyond that of normal shinobi, his drive to succeed that much greater then theirs. The Shinobi of legend, the great kage's and Sennin and elite Jounin of the past, they had achieved a level of power that even the greatest of today's shinobi strove to match...but they had all fallen to time in the end, all ended the same way. They all either met themselves at the cold end of an enemy, or by the ever marching procession of time itself. Did that mean then that he would have to surpass them by defeating death? It wasn't impossible, certainly. The Scrolls of the Devil of Oto would soon be recovered by his family, and when they were...

But in order to get his hands on them he would have to become the greatest among the Otobe, a warrior without peer among the many forces and one who's abilities were far above what the normal man or even the normal Shinobi could dream of... he would have become a knight of Forte...

It was surely the only way that he could ever see the scrolls of the devil of Oto, short of destroying his entire clan to get to them...although if that became the only option...

Either way, it was what was nessecary. Even if his research was no complete, it was said that the snake Master had discovered the secret to Immortality. If that was so, then he could use it himself, and once and for all secure his place in the world. He would not only have the power that he longed for, the ability to learn anything that ever got the mind to, entertain himself however he liked, but he would also no longer be limited by time. He would be free to watch all the ages of the world pass by, observing and learning all the while... for all eternity...

It was an ambitious dream to be sure. a dream that seemed impossible and out of reach for a mere genin freshly graduated from the academy. But that didn't matter. That didn't phase him. He wasn't going to let that hold him back. His spirit would take him high, his will would help him climb to higher heights than any ever had before. He had to believe that, he did believe that. That was his destiny, his fate, and no force on this earth was going to stand in it's way. That was the future that he would forge with his own hands. That was what lay ahead of him on a path that for now seemed completely obscurred in thick mist. He was going to show Kyojin senpai, he was going to show his brother, he was going to show the village and his clan... he was going to show them all what he was capable of...

And more so than even proving himself, was that, deep down, his vision had struck closer to home then he would admit to himself. For all that he could learn, for all that he could achieve, there was an underlying fear, a creeping terror, that in a single instant he could lose it all, that one day his will wouldn't be enough and that he would fail. The thought of losing everything he'd worked so hard to achieve, the thought that all he had learned would be lost when there was so much MORE that he wanted to know. It was horrifying to him. a secret phobia that clawed at the edges of his mind. So he would grow stronger...strong enough to keep all that was his...strong enough to protect his right live. Strong enough to protect all his little whims and oddities.

He may have been strange, but that wouldn't matter if he was strong. He may have been out of place, but that wouldn't matter if he was powerful. All that he was could be protected that way, kept safe and strong behind a wall of power so thick that none could penetrate it. He would be able to continue his whimsical life until the ending of the universe... until such a time came when none were left who remembered the name Otobe, HE would still exist... yes, that was his goal, his dream, his vision. His heart's one true desire. He wanted to be the small little wave that in it's presciion and control outlasted the larger one, it's influence growing to consume and out do that which had given birth to it... that which had once seemed so large and powerful by comparison...

He could still feel it... still feel himself becoming stronger, he was pushing himself harder then he ever had in his life, but it was worth it. He was growing, he was surpassing his old self. He, as slender and seemingly weak as he was, would soon be more then able to take the average punch. And then some. Then he would master Minor Vibrations, and so on and so forth. He'd continue training his chakra, his dexterity, maybe with his new found endurance, he'd even be able to pick a new weapon of choice...he'd no longer fear getting in a close quarters fight with an opponent of his skill level. He'd be more the able to keep up with the punches...and take them to boot. He was getting on his way now, he was growing stronger... he just needed to take it...he just needed to outlast his fatigue...

The entire course of his young life was actually rather smooth, all things considered. Well, he corrected, smooth as far as an Otobe's could go. He made it out of his Second self relatively mentally stable, and from there had been put through the program, yes, but had been booted off quickly to a remote position where, rather than be forced into continued service under the clan and it's various houses, he was instead raised in Kiri, where he'd been left essentially to his own devices and, though it had been rather strange, been treated for the most part like an ordinary child. For the time since he was six and had come to live in Kiri, his life had been...well, pleasant enough. He wouldn't go so far as to say that he was content with his life, he was, after all, still too weak, but for the most part he was happy.

The grove seemed so quiet, but now that he thought about, he probaqbly couldn't hear right now even if he wanted to. His sensory system did much of his hearing for him and right now it was occupying itself by chaotically and ruthless attacking the muscles around it, forcing them to endure even as he continuing to push himself further and further. This was probably insane...probably madness. Training like this was unheard of, and certainly not something that a genin should try so readily. But he wasn;t afraid. He didn;t doubt himself. He knew that his body could handle it, knew that it would survive this process and grow stronger. It had to, and it would. He would force it to, he would put it through hell and then, when all was said and done it would stronger... stronger then it had ever been before...and that would only be the first of many times that it would be so... the first of many... many, more.
