Perhaps it was because of her petite build, or maybe her lack of constitution, but Miharu soon found herself to be quite tired from running. To be honest, she didn't even know why she was even running in the first place. She came to a stop, finding herself just outside the city limits, closer to the Slowpoke Well. She let her backpack fall to the ground with a clatter, startling a flock of Spearow who'd been pecking at the ground nearby. They flew off, squawking angrily, leaving Miharu with the feeling that they'd only just decided to leave her alone. She sank to her knees, chest still heaving, and wondered why she'd taken off in the first place.

A soft cooing came from above her, and Miharu looked up almost instantly. She didn't see anything right away, but then she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. A small, sandy-coloured Pidgey was perched on the branch of a tree, not too high above her. The bird's eyes were bright and cheerful, quite the contrast compared to the worry and anxiety present in Miharu's dark eyes. As Miharu watched, the little bird hopped along the branch, chirping softly at her, and all the while, getting closer. "I saw you in the forest," Miharu said, remembering suddenly the Pidgey that had watched her and Rin as they left the forest. "Why are you following me?" The tiny bird tilted its head, a laughter-like noise escaping its throat. Was that a smile? The Pidgey glided down from its perch, and landed a few feet in front of the girl, still twittering and chirping happily. "What do you want with me?" she asked, as though she expected a response.

Keegan made a move to protest, but he stopped, watching how well Violet handled Helios. The Vulpix didn't seem to mind, either, he made himself right at home, nuzzling the lovely woman under the chin. "You little flirt," Keegan laughed, and shook his head. "I don't think sending Bahamut would be a good idea somehow," he said, casually holding up his bandaged hand for all to see. "We don't want her to chomp down on any innocent bystanders. And I somehow think Apollo would scare him. Let's try a less direct approach." He motioned to Artemis, who was perched over on a coat rack, giving dirty looks to anyone who passed by. "Hey, Evil Eye," he called, the Swellow looking up eagerly. "Head outside and locate Jaeshan, if you can. Come back and show us the way, alright?" The Swellow nodded eagerly, flying up and out the open door as someone walked inside, knocking the hat from his head. "Heh, she's sweet," he said, in reference to Artemis.

"Much nicer then my pokemon." Dante muttered and receaved a whack on the back of his head from Meowth's tail and Levi's foot. "Ouch! It's true though. And dont do that again or I will let Bahamut out to munch on your tail Meowth." He threated with a small glare at Meowth, he couldn't very well glare at Levi who was on top of his head. "Good thing Apollo didn't hear you say that, I think that he might have been offended." He said thinking about his normally calm Ponyta.

Violet continued to pet the happy Vulpix. "You are the cutest little Vulpix I have ever seen. You know," She said sroping her voice into a whisper so only Helios could hear. "I happen to have quite a few pretty little female Vulpix on my researvation if you would ever like to come over and meet them." She finished. Then giving the firey fox a kiss on the cheek she placed him back on Keegan's shoulder. "There you go sweetie."

Kilik shoved his hands into his pockets. His only Pokemon companion at the moment was Elekid. Everyone else was safely tucked away in their Pokeballs. The trainer's heart was pounding. He could feel the sweat trickle down his palms. Thousands of thoughts raced through his mind. It was as if he could feel the weight of his thoughts crushing down on him. The trainer's walk became more brisk. "Good lord, I've never been so nervous."

His steps brought him to the front of the Saffron City Gym's door. He stared ta his reflection on the electronic door. He pulled his hands out of his pockets and clenched them into fists by his sides. "Well, Elekid...here goes nothing." Elekid patted his trainer softly. He took a step through the automatic door, standing in the foyer.

Keegan's eyes widened a bit as Violet placed Helios back onto his shoulder, having missed the exchange of blows planted on Dante's head by both Meowth and Levi. Keegan caught the scent of her perfume on the breeze, causing him to swoon involuntarily. A simple smile crept across his face. "I wonder if Artemis has had any luck yet," he said casually, absent-mindedly stroking Helios's soft fur.

Nina took her Pokeballs and clipped them onto her belt. After fastening the last one, she looked up to the Gym's door, and smiled slightly as her challenger walked in.

"Kilik," Nina said simply. She approached him, stopping a couple of feet in front of him. She was tempted to take him into a hug, but decided it best to proceed to the formalities first. There would be time for affection afterward.

"I would like to welcome you to the Saffron Gym. Here, as you know, I will be using Psychic Pokemon in our battle. However, I will not allow you to battle me outright, from where we stand. Instead, you must locate me in the maze behind us. There are teleportation pads scattered in each area of the maze, and to progress, you must step on the pad. You will then be transported to a different area." The Gym Leader cleared her throat.

"However," she went on, "before I will accept your challenge, you must locate a small statuette of a Pokemon that I have hidden in the maze. Present the said statuette to me, and our battle shall begin. Do you understand all I have told you?"

Kilik nodded and looked up to see Elekid's arm dangling in front of his face. . He unclipped the Pokemon's ball from his belt and lifted it over his head. There was a red light that absorbed the plug inside. Afterward, he took a step forward to embrace her, but he stopped himself and retreated his step. "All right, Nina." He crossed his arms over his chest and smirked. "I take it I don't get any hints, either?" The trainer dropped his hands by his sides and walked over to a pad.

"So I just step on this?" he asked, looking over his shoulder, "Hm. Well, what's the Pokemon that the statuette looks like? Raichu? Flareon? Alakazam?" Kilik arched an eyebrow. The trainer stared back at the pad and blinked.

"The statuette is of a Ghost-type Pokemon, and one that is near to my heart. You should be able to figure out what Pokemon that is, then." Nina smiled a bit, and approached Kilik.

"And to answer your other question, yes," she went on, "you simply step on this pad. And now, your Gym Challenge begins." Nina stepped on the pad, and appeared in a different area. She stepped on at least two dozen more before stopping, to continually change her location to throw Kilik off.

Kilik laughed and nodded. "Misdreavus," he said simply, taking a step onto the pad. There was a sudden rush of wind and he felt like something was yanking hard on his navel. When the spinning stopped, Kilik found himself in a different room, standing on a pad exactly like the other one. "Well, that was interesting," he grumbled, stepping off the pad. His stomach was churning. The room was spinning.

The boy stumbled forward, placing his hand on the wall. "I think I'm gonna be sick," straightening up. Kilik gulped, looking around. There were two pads that he could choose from. Either he could take the right or the left. "I hate picking and choosing..." he whispered. An idea struck him. He unclipped a Pokeball from his belt and pressed the button. The ball grew to fit his hand. Setting the ball on the floor, he gave it a quick spin. Kilik hopped back, looking at it. The orb began to slow down and then it stopped. The button was facing the right pad. Kilik snatched up the ball and smiled. "That settles it, then." He walked over to the pad on the right and stepped on it, feeling the same sensation as before.

With each room he came into, there were either two, three or even four more pads than the one he came in on. To solve his problem with picking, he would spin the ball again. Whichever pad the button faced was the one he would take. Kilik found this very simple, but the constant spinning and sudden stopping was causing his stomach to churn. "Gonna be sick..." he repeated.

Kilik paused in the room he landed in. He walked slowly over to the wall and pressed his back against it, sliding down. He had to rest his stomach for a minute - one more teleportation and his lunch would be all over the polished Gym floor. A smile crept across his face. "It feels like I just ate a ton of garbage..." he whispered, "Too bad Weezing can't find that statuette for me." He crawled on all fours over to the set of pads, whimpering slightly. If I had a tail, it'd be between my legs, he laughed slightly at this thought, placing the Pokeball on the floor one more time.

His spin was a bit weaker this time and because of the angle of which he spun it, the ball slid across the floor and landed on the pad on the left. It disappeared from his sight. Kilik's eyes widened and stood up slowly. "Lombre! Come back!" he ran over to the pad and jumped onto it. That sickening feeling washed over him.

When he landed in the new room, he found Lombre's Pokeball lying next to his foot. He picked it up and sighed happily. "That was close," he said. The boy moved toward the center of the room and tripped on something. He looked down with an arched eyebrow to see what it was. Crouching down and picking it up, Kilik's lips formed a big smile. "There it is! Misdreavus statue!" He punched the air with it and then pressed it to his chest.

"Now, another spin of the ball to see where I go." With that, the ball was sent spiraling on the ground, "Pokeball, Pokeball, spin, spin, spin. Tell me which room I shall be in." He tapped his foot in wait. The Pokeball stopped and was pointing to a pad in the far right. Kilik snatched up Lombre's ball and headed over to the pad, disappearing with the statue in his hands.

Jaeshan had been sitting in the alleyway for quite some time now, his hands resting on his knees, egg sitting gently in his lap. It occasionally wriggled, and even made noises, but he didn't seem to notice. All he could think of was the damage he'd caused, he didn't even notice when the blue and white Swellow flew overhead, taking note of his location. "I'm never letting Nidoking go free in a public place ever again," he said dully, pushing his blonde hair back out of his eyes. It had grown almost too long; but he decided against getting a haircut, for he detested them. This stemmed from an event long ago, when his barber had cut his hair too short, and compared his head to a grapefruit. He laughed despite his mood, resolving to at the very least, get a light trim to try and tame his wild hair.

"You sound much better when you're laughing," came a soft voice, and Jaeshan looked up to see the Nidoqueen trainer standing before him. "Your Nidoking is very impressive," she went on. "I was wondering if perhaps you'd like to battle? I've been looking for a challenger worthy of Nidoqueen's rank for some time now. Of course, we wouldn't limit it to only one Pokemon each, but that's up to you." Her tone was soft and disarming, and she showed no signs of being upset over what had happened earlier. She had bluish hair, not unlike the colour of Nidoqueen's scales, and sea green eyes. She wore a genuine smile.

Jaeshan, who seemingly had lost his voice, slowly stood up, still clutching the egg protectively. He thought for a moment, and then nodded. A battle would be good to keep him in practice for when he challenged Surge.

The Pidgey hopped forward a little more, until she was only inches from Miharu's hand, planted firmly on the ground. The little bird brought her head down, and pecked gently at her fingertips, as though trying to tell the girl something. Miharu watched curiously, not really sure what to do. The little Pidgey looked up at her and trilled sharply, thrusting her head forward. Suddenly Miharu knew what the little bird wanted - a battle. Maybe this little Pokemon had sensed her unrest and had a desire to help. Miharu stood up slowly, and nodded. "You want to battle then," she said quietly, to which the little Pidgey chirped happily. Miharu couldn't help but smile, and laugh, even. She took the third Poke Ball from her belt, enlarging it with the click of the button. "You want to join me, but not before I prove myself. Right?" Another sharp little nod. Miharu was now grinning broadly, something that was rarely seen. "All right then. Starrie, you're up!" Somewhat gracefully, she let the sphere fly; it burst open, revealing a star-shaped Pokemon. The Staryu flexed its appendages, readying itself for battle. Miharu had battled a Pidgey before, one that belonged to a trainer a while back, when Tingle was still a Beldum. Since it had only known one attack, it was fairly straightforward. "I'm ready," Miharu said quietly.

"Artemis is a smart pokemon, I am sure she will find him soon if she has not all ready." Dante answered less irritated now and leaning against the counter.

"Oh! I forgot to tell you over the phone honey but I am going to be hosting a large beach party over in Slateport on the 1st, since they have such a nice beach. There are going to be plenty of festivities, battling, a race and maybe even a contest of some sort. Of course there will be surf and sand as well so bring your bathing suit." She said with a smile on her face. "I came to visit you personally to deliver the invitation to you and anyone you might be with." She said glancing over at Keegan and giving him a friendly smile. "So get training you two and if you dont know how to swim I recomend you learning how."

"A beach party?" Dante asked more to himself then anyone else. Then after a moment of thought he shrugged. "Sure it sounds like it will be fun. Especially the race, I bet Apollo would love that."

It was the worst feeling he had felt in his life. Everything was spinning. His eyes hurt. His stomach was gurgling. Kilik was amazed he had made it this far without throwing up on the tile. His hands were shaking and holding the statuette became a bit of a hassle. So, he took a minute or two to place the statue into one of the pockets on his backpack. He ran a hand through his black hair. "Nina, why do I have to do this? Couldn't we just battle?" he complained to nobody, walking over to another pad.

He no longer cared which teleporter he stepped on. No long cared how much longer it would take to get to the Gym Leader. A sigh escaped him as he placed his foot on the pad and readied himself for another sickening ride.

The room he reached had two panels in it. Part of him took a wild guess that one would take him to Nina, while the other would take him to the very beginning. He gulped and took a step forward, standing between the two pads. He looked from one to the other, gulping slightly. "Eeny, meenie, miney, mo. Grab a Swampert by the toe," he sang to himself, pointing from one pad to the other with each word. "If he hollers le---Oh, forget it, I'm taking the one on the left." With that, he jumped onto the panel and felt one last sickening feeling.

When the room stopped spinning and everything became clear, he saw Nina standing in the room. He fell to his knees and placed his hands on the tile. The boy gulped, taking many deep breaths. "Thank goodness it's over..." he crawled off the panel and stood up slowly, removing his bag. Kilik pulled the statuette out and showed it to her. "You mean this one?" he laughed weakly, gulping down again. I'm choking on my own vomit.
